Encephalitis

Encephalitis is an uncommon but serious condition in which the brain becomes inflamed (swollen).

Endocarditis

Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) is the name for a group of rare inherited skin disorders that cause the skin to become very fragile. Any trauma or friction to the skin can cause painful blisters.

Epididymitis

Epididymitis is where a tube (the epididymis) behind the testicles becomes swollen and painful. It's often caused by an infection and is usually treated with antibiotics.

Epiglottitis

Epiglottitis is swelling of your epiglottis, the flap that covers your windpipe when you swallow. Epiglottitis can block your windpipe, even when you're not swallowing, making it difficult to breathe. It's a medical emergency and needs to be treated in hospital straight away.

Epilepsy

Epilepsy is a condition that affects your brain and causes seizures (sometimes called fits). It cannot currently be cured, but treatment can often help manage it.

Erectile dysfunction (impotence)

Erectile dysfunction (impotence) is very common, particularly in men over 40. It's usually nothing to worry about, but see a GP if it keeps happening.

Erythema multiforme

Erythema multiforme is a skin condition that can be caused by an infection or some medicines. It usually gets better on its own in 2 to 4 weeks.
