Your medicine is called Candesartán Teva-ratio. The active ingredient is candesartán cilexetilo. This belongs to a group of medicines called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It works by making blood vessels relax and dilate. This makes it easier for your blood pressure to decrease. It also makes it easier for your heart to pump blood to all parts of your body.

This medicine is used for:

  • treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension) in adult patientsand in children and adolescents from6 toless than 18 years.
  • treatment of adult patients with heart failure with reduced cardiac muscle function when it is not possible to use angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE inhibitors), or added to ACE inhibitors when symptoms persist despite treatment and it is not possible to use mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists (MRAs). (ACE inhibitors and MRAs are medicines used to treat heart failure).

2. What you need to know before starting to take Candesartán Teva-ratio

Do not take Candesartán Teva-ratio

  • if you are allergic to candesartán cilexetilo or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

Children and adolescents

Candesartán has been studied in children. For more information, consult your doctor. Candesartán should not be administered to children under 1 year of age due to the potential risk to the developing kidneys.
