1. Qué es Relestat y para qué se utiliza

Relestat es un medicamento antialérgico.

Relestat es un colirio en solución utilizado para el tratamiento de los síntomas de la conjuntivitis alérgica estacional, una enfermedad alérgica estacional que afecta al ojo. Los principales síntomas tratados por Relestat incluyen lagrimeo y picor, enrojecimiento o hinchazón de ojos o párpados.

2. Qué necesita saber antes de empezar a usar Relestat

No use Relestat

  • Si es alérgico al hidrocloruro de epinastina o a alguno de los demás componentes de este medicamento (incluidos en la sección 6).

Advertencias y precauciones

Consulte a su médico o farmacéutico antes de empezar a usar Relestat:

  • Si utiliza lentes de contactodebe retirarlas antes de utilizar Relestat. Después de su uso, espere por lo menos 15 minutos antes de volver a ponérselas. Ver también la sección 2, “Relestat contiene cloruro de benzalconio”.

Conducción y uso de máquinas

Es posible que experimente visión borrosa pasajera poco después de usar Relestat. No debe conducir ni utilizar máquinas hasta que vuelva a ver con claridad.

Relestat contiene cloruro de benzalconio y fosfatos

Este medicamento contiene 0,5 mg de cloruro de benzalconio en cada 5 ml de solución, equivalente a 0,1 mg/ml.

El cloruro de benzalconio se puede absorber por las lentes de contacto blandas y puede alterar el color de las lentes de contacto. Retirar las lentes de contacto antes de usar este medicamento y esperar 15 minutos antes de volver a colocarlas.

El cloruro de benzalconio puede causar irritación ocular, especialmente si padece de ojo seco u otras enfermedades de la córnea (capa transparente de la zona frontal del ojo). Consulte a su médico si siente una sensación extraña, escozor o dolor en el ojo después de usar este medicamento.

Este medicamento contiene 23,75 mg de fosfato en cada 5 ml de solución, equivalente a 4,75 mg/ml.

Si sufre de daño grave en la córnea (la capa trasparente de la parte frontal del ojo) el tratamiento con fosfatos, en casos muy raros, puede provocar visión borrosa por acumulación de calcio (Ver sección 4).

3. Cómo usar Relestat

Siga exactamente las instrucciones de administración de este medicamento indicadas por su médico. En caso de duda, consulte de nuevo a su médico o farmacéutico.

Uso en niños

Relestat no se debe usar en niños menores de 12 años.

Uso en adultos y adolescentes (de 12 años o mayores)

La dosis recomendada es una gota en cada ojo que necesite tratamiento, dos veces al día, por ejemplo, por la mañana y por la noche.

Debe utilizar Relestat todos los días que tenga síntomas durante la estación alérgica pero nunca durante más de 8 semanas

Instrucciones de uso

Ojo mostrando cuatro pasos de aplicación de gotas: frasco cerca, inclinación, goteo y párpado cerradoNo debe utilizar este envase si el precinto de seguridad del cuello del frasco está roto antes de su primer uso.

Aplicar las gotas de la siguiente manera:

  1. Lávese las manos. Incline la cabeza hacia atrás y mire al techo.
  2. Separe con suavidad el párpado inferior hasta que quede un pequeño hueco.
  3. Dé la vuelta al frasco y apriételo para dejar caer una gota en el ojo que necesita tratamiento.
  4. Suelte el párpado inferior y mantenga cerrado el ojo durante 30 segundos. Si la gota cae fuera del ojo, vuelva a intentarlo.

Con el fin de evitar contaminación de la solución, evite que la punta del cuentagotas toque el ojo o ninguna otra superficie

Vuelva a poner el tapón y cierre el envase inmediatamente después de usarlo.

Limpie cualquier exceso de líquido en su mejilla con un pañuelo limpio.

La aplicación correcta de las gotas es muy importante. En caso de duda, consulte con su médico o farmacéutico.

Si usa más Relestat del que debe

Si usa más gotas de Relestat de las que debe, es improbable que le cause daño alguno. Aplique la(s) siguiente(s) gota(s) a la hora habitual. Si está preocupado/a, hable con su médico o farmacéutico.

Si olvidó usar Relestat

Si olvidó una dosis, aplíquela tan pronto como se acuerde, a menos que ya sea la hora de su siguiente dosis, en cuyo caso debe descartar la dosis olvidada. Después use su siguiente dosis a la hora habitual y continúe con su pauta normal.

No use una dosis doble para compensar las dosis olvidadas.

Si interrumpe el tratamiento con Relestat

Relestat debe ser usado como ha sido aconsejado por su médico.

4. Posibles efectos adversos

Al igual que todos los medicamentos, este medicamento puede producir efectos adversos, aunque no todas las personas los sufran. Es probable que ninguno de estos efectos sea grave; es posible que la mayoría de ellos sean leves y sólo afecten al ojo.

Si se produce alguna de estas situaciones deje de utilizar Relestat y contacte con su médico de inmediato o vaya al hospital más cercano:

  • si experimenta síntomas de angioedema (hinchazón de la cara, la lengua o la garganta; dificultad para tragar; urticaria y dificultad para respirar)

5. Conservación de Relestat

Mantener este medicamento fuera de la vista y del alcance de los niños.

No utilice este medicamento después de la fecha de caducidad que aparece en la etiqueta del envase y en la caja después de EXP. La fecha de caducidad es el último día del mes que se indica.

No utilice este medicamento si observa que el colirio muestra signos de deterioro, por ejemplo cambio de color, y devuelva el producto a su farmacéutico.

No conservar a temperatura superior a 25ºC.

Conservar el frasco dentro de su caja para protegerlo de la luz.

A los 28 días de haber abierto el frasco debe desecharlo, aun cuando queden algunas gotas. Esto le protegerá frente a infecciones. Para ayudarle a acordarse, anote la fecha de apertura en la caja.

Los medicamentos no se deben tirar por los desagües ni a la basura. Deposite los envases y los medicamentos que no necesita en el Punto SIGRE de la farmacia. Pregunte a su farmacéutico cómo deshacerse de los envases y de los medicamentos que no necesita. De esta forma, ayudará a proteger el medio ambiente.

6. Contenido del envase e información adicional

Composición de Relestat

  • El principio activo es hidrocloruro de epinastina. Cada ml de colirio en solución contiene 0,5 mg de hidrocloruro de epinastina.
  • Los demás componentes son cloruro de benzalconio (conservante), edetato disódico, cloruro sódico, fosfato sódico dihidrógeno dihidratado, hidróxido sódico/ácido clorhídrico (para ajustar el pH) y agua purificada.

Aspecto del producto y contenido del envase

Relestat es un colirio en solución transparente e incoloro contenido en un frasco de plástico con un tapón de rosca. Antes de abrir, cada frasco está lleno hasta la mitad de su capacidad, y contiene 5 ml de solución. Cada envase contiene un frasco.
