glubionas)and calcium lactobionate (Calcii lactobionas)and excipients: sucrose, propionic acid, sodium benzoate, strawberry flavor AR 0012/F, hydrochloric acid, purified water.

Dosage:

Oral administration.
Children from 2 to 11 years old - 2.5 to 5 ml of syrup 2 times a day.
Children from 12 to 17 years old - 5 to 10 ml of syrup 2 to 3 times a day.
Adults - 15 ml of syrup 2 to 3 times a day.
Storage:Store at a temperature below 25°C.
Keep the medicine out of sight and reach of children.
Do not use after the expiration date.

1. What is Calcium Aflofarm (strawberry flavor) and what is it used for

Calcium Aflofarm (strawberry flavor) is a syrup containing 116 mg of calcium ions per 5 ml of syrup.

Calcium Aflofarm (strawberry flavor) is indicated:

  • to supplement calcium deficiencies, especially in conditions of increased demand (pregnancy, breastfeeding, periods of intense growth in children, convalescence, bone fractures, rickets);
  • as a supportive treatment for allergic diseases, upper respiratory tract infections, osteoporosis.

2. Important information before taking Calcium Aflofarm (strawberry flavor)

When not to take Calcium Aflofarm (strawberry flavor)

  • if you are allergic to the active substances or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
  • if you have hypercalcemia (too high calcium levels in the blood), hypercalciuria (too high calcium levels in the urine), galactosemia.

Warnings and precautions

This medicine contains calcium. Due to the risk of overdose, check before use if other medicines you are taking contain calcium.
Before taking Calcium Aflofarm (strawberry flavor), discuss it with your doctor or pharmacist:

  • if you have a tendency to form kidney stones;
  • if you have kidney and heart diseases.

Concomitant use of cardiac glycosides and calcium compounds increases the risk of cardiac arrhythmias.
Do not take this medicine with large doses of vitamin D or during treatment with antibiotics from the tetracycline and thiazide diuretic groups (e.g., chlorothiazide).

Calcium Aflofarm (strawberry flavor) and other medicines

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines you are taking or have recently taken, as well as any medicines you plan to take.
If you are taking any of the following medicines, you may need to change the dose or stop treatment.
Tell your doctor if you are taking:

  • tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones (antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections);
  • fluoride compounds (ingredient in toothpaste);
  • sulfasalazine (a medicine used to treat, among others, rheumatoid arthritis);
  • thiazide diuretics, vitamin D
  • glucocorticosteroids (steroids, used to treat, among others, rheumatic disease);
  • parathyroid hormone (a medicine used to treat hyperthyroidism);
  • cardiac glycosides (medicines used to treat heart failure and heart rhythm disorders), as the risk of cardiac arrhythmias increases;
  • verapamil and other calcium channel blockers (medicines used to treat hypertension and heart failure), as high doses of the medicine, especially in combination with vitamin D, may weaken the effect of these medicines.

If you are not sure if you are taking any of the above medicines, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Calcium Aflofarm (strawberry flavor) with food and drink

Keep a 3-hour interval between taking calcium products and other medicines.
Products that may reduce the absorption of the medicine, e.g.:

  • products containing oxalates (e.g., spinach, rhubarb);
  • milk and its products (yogurt, cheese, kefir, etc.);
  • grain products (bread, pasta, etc.);
  • large amounts of fat;
  • products with an alkaline reaction (e.g., potatoes, cabbage, celery, tomatoes, carrots).

Products that may increase the absorption of the medicine:

  • citric acid;
  • products with an acidic reaction (e.g., oatmeal, white and rye bread, eggs, fish, coffee, black tea).

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or plan to have a child, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.

Driving and using machines

No effect.

The medicine contains sucrose.

5 ml of syrup contains 1.53 g of sucrose. If you have been diagnosed with intolerance to some sugars, consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

3. How to take Calcium Aflofarm (strawberry flavor)

Take this medicine always exactly as described in the patient leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you are unsure, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Method of administration

Take the medicine orally.
A measuring cup is attached to the packaging to facilitate dosing, with which you should measure the medicine.
The recommended dose is:

  • children from 2 to 11 years old - 2.5 to 5 ml of syrup 2 times a day;
  • children from 12 to 17 years old - 5 to 10 ml of syrup 2 to 3 times a day;
  • adults - 15 ml of syrup 2 to 3 times a day.

Taking a higher dose of Calcium Aflofarm (strawberry flavor) than recommended

Immediately consult your doctor or pharmacist, even if you feel well.

Missing a dose of Calcium Aflofarm (strawberry flavor)

Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
If you miss a dose and your symptoms persist, take the next dose at the scheduled time.
If you have any further doubts about using this medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Possible side effects:

  • gastrointestinal disorders;
  • hypercalcemia, the symptoms of which are loss of appetite, gastrointestinal disorders, muscle weakness, polyuria.

If you experience any of the above symptoms, stop taking the medicine and consult your doctor.

5. How to store Calcium Aflofarm (strawberry flavor)

Keep the medicine out of sight and reach of children.
Store at a temperature below 25°C.
Do not use this medicine after the expiration date stated on the label. The expiration date is the last day of the month stated.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. This will help protect the environment.
