1. What is Calcium Hasco and what is it used for

Calcium Hasco is a medicine containing calcium salts. Calcium is a building block of the body and plays an important role in many physiological processes (maintaining proper blood clotting, muscle contraction, nerve conduction, and cell membrane function). Calcium also reduces the permeability of blood vessel walls, acting as a vasodilator and anti-inflammatory agent. Calcium passes through the placenta and into breast milk.

Indications for use:

  • prevention and supplementation of calcium deficiency in the body, e.g., during pregnancy or breastfeeding,
  • treatment of osteoporosis,
  • supportive treatment of allergy symptoms.

2. Important information before using Calcium Hasco

When not to use Calcium Hasco

  • if the patient is allergic to the active substances (calcium salts) or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
  • if the patient has elevated calcium levels in the blood (hypercalcemia, e.g., in patients with hyperparathyroidism, severe renal failure, or vitamin D overdose);
  • if the patient has increased calcium excretion in the urine (hypercalciuria);
  • if the patient has severe renal failure or kidney stones;
  • if the patient has an atrioventricular block.

Warnings and precautions

1/4
Before starting to use Calcium Hasco, you should discuss it with your doctor or pharmacist.
You should exercise special caution when using Calcium Hasco:

  • if the patient has renal failure;
  • if the patient is taking high doses of vitamin D.

Calcium Hasco and other medicines

You should tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines you are currently taking or have recently taken, as well as any medicines you plan to take.
High doses of calcium taken with certain heart medicines (digitalis glycosides or calcium channel blockers) can cause serious heart rhythm disorders.
Calcium significantly reduces the absorption of certain antibiotics (tetracyclines and quinolones), levothyroxine, nitrofurantoin, bisphosphonates, chlorpromazine, penicillamine, blood thinners, and fluoride compounds. Therefore, it is recommended to leave a 3-hour interval between taking Calcium Hasco syrup and these medicines.
Diuretic medicines from the thiazide group reduce calcium excretion, while vitamin D increases calcium absorption.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or plan to have a child, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.

Driving and using machines

The medicine does not affect the ability to drive or use machines.

Calcium Hasco contains sucrose

If you have been diagnosed with intolerance to some sugars, you should consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
Calcium Hasco syrup contains 0.3 g of sucrose per 1 ml (i.e., approximately 1.5 g per 5 ml).

3. How to use Calcium Hasco

This medicine should always be used exactly as described in the patient leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you are unsure, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist.
The medicine is taken orally.
Adults: 15 ml 2 or 3 times a day.
Children: up to 6 years: 5 ml 2 or 3 times a day,
from 6 to 12 years: 10 ml 2 or 3 times a day.
The medicine should be measured using the enclosed measuring cup.
If you feel that the effect of Calcium Hasco is too strong or too weak, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Using a higher dose of Calcium Hasco than recommended

No cases of Calcium Hasco overdose have been reported. If you have taken a higher dose of the medicine than recommended, you should immediately consult your doctor.

Missing a dose of Calcium Hasco

You should not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
If you have any further questions about using the medicine, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Reporting side effects

If you experience any side effects, including any possible side effects not listed in the leaflet, you should inform your doctor or pharmacist. Side effects can be reported directly to the Department of Post-Marketing Surveillance of the Office for Registration of Medicinal Products, Medical Devices, and Biocidal Products
