Ulceralcontains the active ingredient omeprazole.It belongs to a group of medications called “proton pump inhibitors”. These medications act by reducing the amount of acid produced by the stomach.
Ulceralis used to treat the following diseases:
In adults:
In children:
Children over 1 year of age and ≥ 10 kg:
The symptoms of the disease in children may include the return of stomach contents to the mouth (regurgitation), vomiting, and inadequate weight gain.
Children over 4 years of age and adolescents:
Ulcers infected by a bacteria called “Helicobacter pylori”. If your child has this disease, it is possible that your doctor will prescribe antibiotics to treat the infection and allow the ulcer to heal.
Do not take Ulceral:
Do not take Ulceral if you fall into any of the above cases. If you are unsure, speak with your doctor or pharmacist before taking Ulceral.
Warnings and precautions
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before starting to take Ulceral.
Severe skin reactions, including Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS), and acute generalized pustular psoriasis (AGPP), have been reported in association with Ulceral treatment. Stop taking Ulceral and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of these symptoms related to severe skin reactions described in section 4.
Omeprazole may mask the symptoms of other diseases. Therefore, if you experience any of the following symptoms before starting to take omeprazole or during treatment, consult your doctor immediately:
If you take omeprazole for a long period (more than 1 year), your doctor will likely perform regular check-ups. Inform your doctor of any new or unusual symptoms and circumstances whenever you visit.
Taking a proton pump inhibitor like omeprazole, especially for more than a year, may slightly increase the risk of fractures in the hip, wrist, or spine. Inform your doctor if you have osteoporosis or are taking corticosteroids (which can increase the risk of osteoporosis).
If you experience a skin rash, especially in sun-exposed areas, consult your doctor as soon as possible, as it may be necessary to interrupt omeprazole treatment. Remember to mention any other symptoms you may notice, such as joint pain.
Omeprazole may cause kidney inflammation. Signs and symptoms may include decreased urine volume or blood in the urine and/or hypersensitivity reactions such as fever, skin rash, and joint stiffness. Inform your doctor of these signs.
Children
Some children with chronic diseases may require long-term treatment, although it is not recommended. Do not administer this medication to children under 1 year of age or <10>
Taking Ulceral with other medications
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have taken recently, or may need to take any other medication. This includes medications obtained without a prescription. Omeprazole may affect the mechanism of action of some medications, and some medications may affect omeprazole.
Do not take omeprazole if you are taking a medication that containsnelfinavir(used to treat HIV infection).
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any of the following medications:
If your doctor has prescribed you antibiotics amoxicillin and clarithromycin to treat ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection, it is essential to inform your doctor of any other medications you are taking.
Taking Ulceral with food and drinks
See section 3.
Pregnancy, lactation, and fertility
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or think you may be pregnant, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication.
Omeprazole passes into breast milk, but it is unlikely to affect the baby when used in therapeutic doses. Your doctor will decide if you can take omeprazole while breastfeeding.
Driving and operating machinery
Omeprazole is unlikely to affect your ability to drive or use tools or machines. However, side effects such as dizziness and visual disturbances (see section 4) may occur. If they do, you should not drive or operate machinery.
Ulceral contains Saccharose
If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to certain sugars, consult with them before taking this medication.
Ulceral contains sodium
This medication contains less than 23 mg of sodium (1 mmol) per capsule; it is essentially "sodium-free".
Follow exactly the administration instructions of this medication as indicated by your doctor. In case of doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist again.
Your doctor will tell you how many capsules to take and for how long. This will depend on your condition and age.

If you take more Ulceral than you should
If you have taken moreUlceralthan prescribed by your doctor, consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately. You can also call the Toxicological Information Service, phone 91 562 04 20, indicating the medication and the amount taken.
If you forget to take Ulceral
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if there is little time left for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed doses.
If you interrupt the treatment with Ulceral
Do not stop taking Ulceral without first talking to your doctor or pharmacist.
If you have any other questions about the use of this medication, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Like all medicines, this medicine may cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them.
If you experience any of the following rare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people) or very rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people) but serious side effects, stop taking omeprazole and consult your doctor immediately:

In very rare cases, omeprazole may affect white blood cells in the blood and cause immunodeficiency. If you experience an infection with symptoms such as fever with a severely deteriorated general condition or fever with symptoms of local infection, such as neck pain, throat pain, or mouth pain or difficulty urinating, you should consult your doctor as soon as possible to perform a blood test and rule out a lack of white blood cells (agranulocytosis). It is essential to provide information about the medication you are taking at that time.

If you experience any type of side effect, consult your doctor or pharmacist, even if it is a possible side effect that does not appear in this prospectus. Validity period after the first opening of the bottle: 100 days.

Medicines should not be disposed of through the drains or in the trash. Deposit the packaging and medicines you no longer need at the SIGRE collection point of the pharmacy. Appearance of the product and contents of the packaging
Ulceralcapsules are hard gelatin capsules of white opaque color marked with “OM 20” that contain spherical granules.
HDPE white bottle with cap and safety ring equipped with a desiccant agent: 14, 28 and 56 capsules.
Alu/Alu blister: 14 and 28 capsules.
PVC-PVDC/Al blister: 14, 28 and 56 capsules.
Only some packaging sizes may be commercially available.
