Read this leaflet carefully before you start taking this medicine because it contains important information for you.
This medicine contains a substance called pitavastatina. It belongs to a group of medicines called ‘statins’. Pitavastatina is used to correct the levels of fatty substances (lipids) in the blood and it can be taken by both children from 6 years old and adults. An imbalance of fats, especially cholesterol, may sometimes cause a heart attack or a cerebral infarction.
You have been prescribed pitavastatina because you have a fat imbalance, and changes in your diet and lifestyle have not been sufficient to correct it. You must continue with a low-cholesterol diet and changes in your lifestyle while taking pitavastatina.

While you are taking this medicine, your doctor will check if you have diabetes or are at risk of developing diabetes. This risk of diabetes increases if you have high levels of sugars and fats in your blood, being overweight, and high blood pressure.
Children and adolescents
Pitavastatin should not be administered to children under 6 years of age.
Before taking pitavastatin, adolescents should receive guidance and advice on contraceptives.

Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are using or have recently used other medicines, including those purchased without a prescription or herbal products. Some medicines may make other medicines less effective.

You can take pitavastatin with or without food.

If you are a woman and may become pregnant, you must use an effective contraceptive method while taking pitavastatin. If you become pregnant while taking pitavastatin, stop taking pitavastatin and see your doctor immediately.

Driving and operating machines
Pitavastatin is not expected to affect your ability to drive or use machines. However, if you feel dizzy or drowsy while taking pitavastatin, do not drive or use machines or tools.
Pitavastatin cinfa contains lactose
If your doctor has told you that you have a certain sugar intolerance, consult with him before taking this medicine.

Taking this medication
Swallow the tablet whole with water, with or without food. You can take it at any time of the day. However, try to take the tablet at the same time every day.
Pitavastatina cinfa 4 mg tablets are scored. The score is only for breaking the tablet if you have difficulty swallowing it whole.

If you take more pitavastatina cinfa than you should
In case of overdose or accidental ingestion, consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately or call the Toxicology Information Service, phone 91 562 04 20, indicating the medication and the amount ingested.
If you forgot to take pitavastatina cinfa
Do not worry, take the next dose at the correct time. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed doses.

Consult your doctor if you experience weakness in your arms or legs that worsens after periods of activity, double vision, eyelid drooping, difficulty swallowing, or difficulty breathing.

Keep this medication out of the sight and reach of children.
Store in the original packaging to protect it from light.
This medication does not require any special storage temperature.
Do not use this medication after the expiration date that appears on the packaging after CAD. The expiration date is the last day of the month indicated.
Medicines should not be disposed of through drains or in the trash. Dispose of the packaging and unused medications at the SIGRE collection point of the pharmacy. If in doubt, ask your pharmacist how to dispose of unused packaging and medications. By doing so, you will help protect the environment.
Pitavastatin Cinfa Composition
Tablet core: lactose monohydrate, low-substituted hydroxypropylcellulose, hypromellose, magnesium hydroxide, and magnesium stearate.
Coating: Opadry Y-1-7000 (hypromellose, titanium dioxide (E-171), and macrogol).
Product Appearance and Packaging Content
Pitavastatin Cinfa 1 mg film-coated tablets are cylindrical, biconvex, white, unnotched, and have the logo “P1” on one side.
Pitavastatin Cinfa 2 mg film-coated tablets are cylindrical, biconvex, white, unnotched, and have the logo “P2” on one side.
Pitavastatin Cinfa 4 mg film-coated tablets are cylindrical, biconvex, white, notched on one side, and have the logo “P4” on the other side. The notch is only for breaking the tablet if it is difficult to swallow whole.
It is presented in packs of 28 tablets.
