Your body needs the correct amount of potassium. Potassium contributes to the proper functioning of your muscles, heart, and other organs. Potassium also helps to balance the levels of water that affect many electrical and chemical processes in your body. Without the appropriate amount of potassium, your heart may start to beat abnormally, which could put your life at risk.
