Safe use ofAmorolfina Stada

If the medication comes into contact with your eyes or ears, wash them with water and contact your doctor or pharmacist or go to the nearest hospital immediately.

Avoid the medication coming into contact with your mouth or nasal passages (or other 'mucous membranes').

Do not inhale the medication.

Do not allow anyone else to use the file from the packaging: this will stop the spread of the infection.

If you need to use chemicals such as paint thinner or acetone when the medication has been applied to your nails, you must use rubber gloves or other impermeable material. This will protect the varnish of your nails.

How to use - first use

Step 1: Prepare your nail

  • Protect your healthy nails so the infection does not spread.
  • Use a new nail file.
  • Gently file the infected areas of the nail, including the surface of the nail.
  • Do not use the same nail filefor infected nails and healthy nails; this could spread the infection.

Step 2: Clean your nail

  • Use one of the provided cleaning wipes (or nail polish remover)
  • Clean the surface of the nail.
  • Do not throw away the cleaning wipe; you will need it later to clean the spatula.

Step 3: Treat your nail

  • Soak the spatula in the bottle of nail varnish.
  • Do not clean the varnishfrom the edge of the bottle before application.
  • Apply the varnish uniformly over the entire surface of the nail.
  • Allow it to dry: let the treated nails dry for about 3 minutes. When the varnish is dry, water and soap will not affect it. You can wash your hands or feet as usual. Wait at least 10 minutes before applying cosmetic nail polish.

Step 4: Clean the spatula

  • You can use the spatula more than once.
  • It is essential to clean it after each use, to not spread the infection.
  • Use the same cleaning wipe that you used to clean your nails.
  • Do not touch the recently treated nails with the cleaning wipe.
  • Closely close the bottle of nail varnish.
  • Carefully dispose of the cleaning wipe,as it is flammable.
  • It is essential to continue using the nail varnish every week until the infection has disappeared and your healthy nails have grown back. This usually takes 6 months for hand nails and 9 to 12 months for foot nails. If the infected nail continues to be infected after this time, you must consult a doctor.
  • If you do not use the nail varnish every week, the treatment may not work as expected and the fungus may become resistant to the medication.

How to use - after thefirstuse

Each infected nail must be treated once a week.

Before reusing the varnish, remove the old varnish and any nail polish with the cleaning wipe.

File the nails again if necessary.

Reapply the varnish as described in Step 3 above.

Clean the spatula as described in Step 4 above.

How long to use

You must use the medication once a week until the infection has disappeared and your healthy nails have grown back.

This usually takes 6 months for hand nails and 9 to 12 months for foot nails.

As the infected nail grows, you will see that it is growing healthy.

Nails grow slowly, so it may take 2 or 3 months before you start to see any improvement.

Every 3 months of treatment:

-If the infection has improved, continue treatment.

-If the infection is the same or worse, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Bring this leaflet with you.

The following images show two examples of a nail at different times:

If you interrupt the treatment with Amorolfina Stada

Do not stop using the medication until your nail improves, as the infection may reappear. This usually takes 6 months for hand nails and 9 to 12 months for foot nails. The images in 'How long to use' will help you understand what you are looking for.

If you have any other questions about the use of this medication, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
