1. Qué es Cufence y para qué se utiliza

Cufence está indicado para el tratamiento de la enfermedad de Wilson en adultos, adolescentes y niños de 5 años de edad o mayores. Se usa en pacientes que no pueden tomar otro medicamento, D-penicilamina, debido a los efectos adversos.

Cufence contiene el principio activo trientina, un agente quelante del cobre que se utiliza para eliminar el exceso de cobre del cuerpo. Cufence se fija al cobre, que luego es expulsado del cuerpo.

2. Qué necesita saber antes de empezar a tomar Cufence

No tome Cufence

Si es alérgico a la trientina o a alguno de los demás componentes de este medicamento (incluidos en la sección 6).

Los signos de una reacción alérgica son, entre otros, erupción cutánea, picor, hinchazón de la cara, desmayos y problemas para respirar.

Advertencias y precauciones

El médico tendrá que comprobar regularmente sus síntomas de la enfermedad y sus niveles de cobre en sangre y orina. El control periódico es especialmente importante al principio del tratamiento o cuando se cambia de dosis, en niños en crecimiento y mujeres embarazadas, para asegurarse de que los niveles de cobre se mantengan a nivel adecuado. Es posible que el médico tenga que aumentar o disminuir la dosis de Cufence.

Otros medicamentos y Cufence

Informe a su médico o farmacéutico si está tomando, ha tomado recientemente o pudiera tener que tomar cualquier otro medicamento.

Si está tomando comprimidos de hierro o medicamentos que neutralizan el ácido en el estómago, deje que transcurran al menos 2 horas antes o después de tomar Cufence, ya que podrían disminuir su efecto. Se recomienda tomar la trientina al menos una hora antes o después de cualquier otro medicamento.

Toma de Cufence con alimentos y bebidas

Tome este medicamento solo con agua. No lo tome con otras bebidas, leche o alimentos porque podrían disminuir el efecto del medicamento. Evite comer o beber (salvo agua) durante 2 horas antes y 1 hora después de tomar el medicamento.

Embarazo y lactancia

Es muy importante que continúe con el tratamiento para mantener los niveles normales de cobre durante el embarazo. 3. Cómo tomar Cufence

Siga exactamente las instrucciones de administración de este medicamento indicadas por su médico o farmacéutico. En caso de duda, consulte de nuevo a su médico o farmacéutico.

Adultos (incluidos pacientes de edad avanzada)

La dosis habitual es de entre 800 y 1 600 mg al día, que se toman por vía oral.

Uso en niños y adolescentes (de 5 a 17 años)

La dosis en niños y adolescentes depende de la edad y del peso corporal, y la ajustará el médico. Al principio del tratamiento la dosis varía entre 400 y 1000 mg al día.

Forma de administración

El médico decidirá cuál es la dosis correcta para usted.

La dosis diaria total puede dividirse en 2 a 4 dosis más pequeñas, según lo que indique el médico. Trague las cápsulas enteras con agua, con el estómago vacío, como mínimo 1 hora antes o 2 horas después de las comidas.

Los pacientes que tengan dificultades para tragar deben ponerse en contacto con su médico.

Si toma más Cufence del que debe

Si usted toma más medicamento del que debería, podría tener náuseas, vómitos y mareos. Debe ponerse en contacto con su médico u otro profesional sanitario de inmediato.

Si olvidó tomar Cufence

Si se olvida de tomar una dosis, tome la siguiente dosis a la hora programada normal.

No tome una dosis doble para compensar las dosis olvidadas.

4. Posibles efectos adversos

Al igual que todos los medicamentos, este medicamento puede producir efectos adversos, aunque no todas las personas los sufran.

5. Conservación de Cufence

Mantener este medicamento fuera de la vista y del alcance de los niños.

No utilice este medicamento después de la fecha de caducidad que aparece en el envase externo después de CAD. La fecha de caducidad es el último día del mes que se indica.

Usar en los 3 meses posteriores a la primera apertura del frasco. Mantener el frasco perfectamente cerrado para protegerlo de la humedad. No utilizar si las cápsulas se vuelven pegajosas o húmedas.

Los medicamentos no se deben tirar por los desagües ni a la basura. Pregunte a su farmacéutico cómo deshacerse de los envases y de los medicamentos que ya no necesita. De esta forma, ayudará a proteger el medio ambiente.

6. Contenido del envase e información adicional

Composición de Cufence

El principio activo es trientina.

  • Cada cápsula dura de Cufence 100 mg contiene 150 mg de trientina dihidrocloruro equivalentes a 100 mg de trientina.
  • Cada cápsula dura de Cufence 200 mg contiene 300 mg de trientina dihidrocloruro equivalentes a 200 mg de trientina.

Los demás componentes son:
