  • Shade in the area affected by the infection in 'Before treatment' in the diagram below.
  • If you have 2 infected nails, choose the worst one for this exercise.
  • Every 3 months, shade in the area affected in the next diagram.
  • Do this until the infected nail has grown out completely.

This will help you remember what your nail looked like so you can see your progress.

Safe use of Amorolfine Stada

  • If the medicine comes into contact with your eyes or ears, wash them with water and contact your doctor or pharmacist or go to the nearest hospital immediately.
  • Avoid the medicine coming into contact with your mouth or nostrils (or other 'mucous membranes').
  • Do not inhale the medicine.
  • Do not let anyone else use the nail files in the pack: this will stop the infection spreading.
  • If you need to use chemicals such as paint thinners or solvents when you have applied the medicine to your nails, you must wear rubber or other impermeable gloves. This will protect the varnish on your nails.

How to use - first use

Step 1: Prepare your nail

  • Protect your healthy nails so that the infection does not spread.
  • Use a new nail file.
  • Gently file the infected areas of the nail, including the surface of the nail.
  • Do not use the same nail filefor infected and healthy nails; this could spread the infection.

Step 2: Clean your nail

  • Use one of the cleaning wipes provided (or nail varnish remover)
  • Wipe the surface of the nail clean.
  • Do not throw away the cleaning wipe; you will need it later to clean the spatula.

Step 3: Treat the nail

  • Dip the spatula into the nail varnish bottle.
  • Do not wipe the varnishon the edge of the bottle before application.
  • Apply the varnish evenly over the entire surface of the nail.
  • Allow it to dry: let the treated nails dry for about 3 minutes. When the varnish is dry, water and soap will not affect it. You can wash your hands or feet as usual. Wait at least 10 minutes before applying cosmetic nail varnish.

Step 4: Clean the spatula

  • You can use the spatula more than once.
  • It is important to clean it after each use, to prevent the infection spreading.
  • Use the same cleaning wipe that you used to clean your nails.
  • Do not touch the newly treated nails with the cleaning wipe.
  • Close the nail varnish bottle tightly.
  • Dispose of the cleaning wipe carefully,as it is flammable.
  • It is important to keep using the nail varnish every week until the infection has gone and your nails have grown out healthy. This usually takes 6 months for fingernails and 9 to 12 months for toenails. If your nail remains infected after this time, you should see a doctor.
  • If you do not use the nail varnish every week, the treatment may not work as well as expected and the fungus may become resistant to the medicine.

How to use - after the first use

Each infected nail should be treated once a week.

  • Before reusing the varnish, remove the old varnish and any nail varnish with the cleaning wipe.
  • File the nails again if necessary.
  • Reapply the varnish as described in Step 3 above.
  • Clean the spatula as described in Step 4 above.

How long to use

  • You should use the medicine once a week until the infection has gone and your healthy nails have grown out.
  • This usually takes 6 months for fingernails and 9 to 12 months for toenails.
  • As the infected nail grows out, you will see that it grows out healthy.
  • Nails grow slowly, so it may take 2 or 3 months before you start to see any improvement.
  • Every 3 months of treatment:
    • If the infection has improved, continue the treatment.
    • If the infection is the same or worse, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Take this leaflet with you.
