1. What is Timohep forte and what is it used for
Timohep forte contains the active substance thiazolidinecarboxylic acid. It supports the breakdown of toxic compounds, thus protecting the liver tissue from the damaging effects of bacterial, viral, and industrial toxins, as well as medications and alcohol. It stimulates the secretion of bile by the liver.
Timohep forte is used as an auxiliary medication in acute and chronic liver diseases of various origins, as well as in toxic liver damage caused by alcohol, medications, or chemicals.
2. Important information before taking Timohep forte
When not to take Timohep forte:
- if you are allergic to thiazolidinecarboxylic acid or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
- in children under 15 years of age.
Warnings and precautions
Before starting to take Timohep forte, discuss it with your doctor or pharmacist.
In order to monitor the progress of treatment, it is recommended to perform liver function tests periodically, every 4 weeks.
Children
Do not use the medicine in children under 15 years of age.
Timohep forte and other medicines
Tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking, or have recently taken, as well as any medicines you plan to take.
Timohep forte with food and drink
Take Timohep forte before a meal.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or plan to have a child, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
Do not use Timohep forte in pregnant or breastfeeding women due to the lack of data confirming its safety.
Driving and using machines
Timohep forte has no influence or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
3. How to take Timohep forte
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. If you are unsure, consult your doctor.
Adults
Initially 200 mg (1 tablet) 2 or 3 times a day.
Then, after the acute symptoms have subsided, reduce the dose to 100 mg (1/2 tablet) 2 times a day.
The tablet can be divided into two equal doses.
Use in children and adolescents
Children over 15 years of age
Initially 200 mg (1 tablet) 2 or 3 times a day.
Then, after the acute symptoms have subsided, reduce the dose to 100 mg (1/2 tablet) 2 times a day.
If you feel that the effect of Timohep forte is too strong or too weak, consult your doctor.
Taking more than the recommended dose of Timohep forte
If you have taken more than the recommended dose of the medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
Taking more than the recommended dose of Timohep forte can lead to changes in the central nervous system. The risk is higher in children due to the easier penetration of the medicine through the blood-brain barrier. Within 15-60 minutes after taking an excessive dose, a life-threatening condition (status epilepticus) may develop, characterized by continuous seizures lasting more than 30 minutes or a series of seizures between which the patient does not regain consciousness, as well as coma. Central nervous system disorders can persist for several weeks or even months. Hearing impairment and deafness may also occur.
Missing a dose of Timohep forte
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, Timohep forte can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

5. How to store Timohep forte
Store the medicine out of sight and reach of children.
There are no special precautions for storage.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
The expiry date refers to the last day of the month stated.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. This will help protect the environment.
6. Contents of the pack and other information
What Timohep forte contains
- The active substance of the medicine is thiazolidinecarboxylic acid (thymonacicum). 1 tablet contains 200 mg of thiazolidinecarboxylic acid (thymonacicum).
- The other ingredients are: calcium hydrogen phosphate, microcrystalline cellulose, potato starch, magnesium stearate, anhydrous colloidal silica.
What Timohep forte looks like and contents of the pack
Timohep forte tablets are white or almost white, capsule-shaped, 14.5 mm long and 7.25 mm wide, with a dividing line on both sides.
The pack contains 10, 30, 50, 90, or 100 tablets packaged in aluminum/PVC/PVDC blisters in a cardboard box.
