1. What is Rutinoscorbin Vitamin C Forte and what is it used for

Rutinoscorbin Vitamin C Forte contains vitamin C - ascorbic acid, which is a compound necessary for the body. Vitamin C supports the immune system, is the body's main antioxidant.

Rutinoscorbin Vitamin C Forte is in the form of prolonged-release capsules. Thanks to this, a high concentration of vitamin C in the body is maintained for over 12 hours after taking the capsule.

Rutinoscorbin Vitamin C Forte capsules are used:

  • for the prevention and treatment of vitamin C deficiency states (vitamin C deficiencies may occur during pregnancy and lactation, in smokers, in the elderly, in stress conditions, during the use of certain types of diets, e.g., elimination diet, in people who regularly consume alcohol),
  • to maintain immunity to infections and reduce the symptoms associated with the common cold and shorten the duration of the disease,
  • for the treatment and prevention of periodontosis, caries, gingivitis, scurvy,
  • as an auxiliary agent: in conditions of reduced immunity, in the treatment of anemia, to accelerate the healing and scarring of wounds.

Rutinoscorbin Vitamin C Forte is indicated for use in adults and children over 6 years of age.

2. Important information before taking Rutinoscorbin Vitamin C Forte

When not to take Rutinoscorbin Vitamin C Forte:

  • if the patient is allergic to the active substance or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
  • in the case of urinary bladder diseases, oxalate kidney stones, in the case of diseases related to iron storage disorders (thalassemia, hemochromatosis, sideroblastic anemia) or other diseases that affect iron content.

Warnings and precautions

High concentrations of vitamin C may change the results of some laboratory tests. In the event of the need to perform laboratory tests, the doctor should be informed about the use of vitamin C.

Before taking Rutinoscorbin Vitamin C Forte, the following cases should be discussed with a doctor:

  • glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency,
  • kidney diseases. Do not take a dose higher than recommended.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and fertility

The medicine can be used in recommended doses during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Do not exceed the recommended dose during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Ascorbic acid passes into breast milk and through the placenta.

Driving and using machines

Rutinoscorbin Vitamin C Forte does not affect the ability to drive and use machines.

Rutinoscorbin Vitamin C Forte contains sucrose and sodium

Sucrose

The medicine contains 40.57 mg of sucrose. If the patient has previously been diagnosed with intolerance to some sugars, the patient should contact a doctor before taking the medicine.

Sodium

The medicine contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg) of sodium per capsule, which means the medicine is considered "sodium-free".

3. How to take Rutinoscorbin Vitamin C Forte

This medicine should always be taken exactly as described in this package leaflet for the patient or as advised by a doctor, pharmacist, or nurse. In case of doubt, consult a doctor, pharmacist, or nurse.

Method of administration

Oral administration.

Use in adults and adolescents over 13 years of age

One to two capsules per day.

Use in children aged 6-12 years

One capsule per day.

Do not chew the capsules, as this may disrupt the absorption of the medicine.

If you feel that the effect of the medicine is too strong or too weak, consult a doctor.

If the symptoms of the disease persist, consult a doctor.

Do not take a dose of the medicine higher than recommended.

Do not use the medicine in children under 6 years of age.

In the event of taking a higher dose than recommended, contact a doctor immediately.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Vitamin C is usually well-tolerated. No side effects have been found when using the recommended dose.

Possible side effects:

  • allergic reactions, including shortness of breath, angioedema, skin rash;
  • headache, dizziness;
  • nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, heartburn, abdominal pain;
  • feeling of fatigue.

5. How to store Rutinoscorbin Vitamin C Forte

Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

Store in a temperature below 25°C.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the packaging.

The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.

Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. This will help protect the environment.

  • The active substance of the medicine is ascorbic acid. One prolonged-release capsule contains 500 mg of ascorbic acid.
