Ipravent Inhaler should always be used as directed by a doctor. In case of doubts, consult a doctor.
To get the best results, follow the instructions below. If you have any doubts after reading these instructions, consult a doctor or pharmacist.
The recommended dose is:

Adults (including the elderly)

  • 1-2 inhalations four times a day.
  • Maximum 12 inhalations per day.

This medicine should always be used exactly as described in this patient leaflet or as directed by a doctor, pharmacist, or nurse. Do not use more inhalations than recommended by a doctor. In case of doubts, consult a doctor, pharmacist, or nurse.

Checking the inhaler

Before first use, check that the inhaler is working properly. The inhaler should also be checked if it has not been used for 3 days or longer.

  • 1. Remove the mouthpiece cover by gently squeezing its sides with your thumb and index finger.
  • 2. Point the mouthpiece away from you and press the canister twice (once, then again) to release two doses into the air.

How to use the inhaler

It is essential to breathe as slowly as possible just before using the inhaler.

  • 1. Use the inhaler in a standing or sitting position.
  • 2. Remove the mouthpiece cover. Check the mouthpiece from the outside and inside to make sure it is clean and free of particles (Figure A).
Hand holding the inhaler and pointing it towards the face, with the letter A marked
  • 3. Hold the inhaler upright, grasping the base of the mouthpiece with your thumb. Exhale slowly until it becomes uncomfortable (Figure B). Do not inhale yet.

  • 5. Inhale slowly through your mouth. As soon as you start inhaling, press the top of the canister to release the dose of medicine. Do this while continuing to breathe slowly and deeply (Figure C).
  • 6. Hold your breath, remove the inhaler from your mouth, and remove your finger from the top of the inhaler. Hold your breath for a few seconds or until it becomes uncomfortable (Figure D).
Profile of the face with closed mouth and held breath with the letter D marked
  • 7. If your doctor has prescribed two doses, wait about one minute before taking the next dose. Repeat steps 3 to 7.
  • 8. After using the inhaler, put the mouthpiece cover back on to prevent dust from entering. Put the cover back on by pushing it firmly.

The mouthpiece is designed specifically for use with this medicine only. Do not use another mouthpiece with this medicine or use the mouthpiece with another medicine.
Practice using the inhaler in front of a mirror several times. If a mist is coming out of the top of the inhaler or the sides of your mouth, try again.
For people with reduced hand strength, it may be more convenient to hold the inhaler with both hands. You should then place both index fingers on the top of the inhaler and both thumbs on the bottom of the inhaler under the mouthpiece. A doctor, nurse, or pharmacist will help the patient.
The inhaler can be used with the Aerochamber Plus spacer. This may be helpful for people who have difficulty synchronizing their breath with the inhaler activation.
In case of difficulty using Ipravent Inhaler, consult a doctor.

When using Ipravent Inhaler, be careful not to get the aerosol into your eyes.

In case the medicine accidentally gets into your eyes, rinse them with running water. Cleaning the inhaler

Regular cleaning of the inhaler is essential. Otherwise, it may not work properly.

  • Remove the canister and mouthpiece cover.
  • Wash and clean the white mouthpiece in warm water with soap.
  • Rinse in warm water and let it air dry; do not use heating systems.
  • Clean the small hole in the mouthpiece thoroughly.
  • After the mouthpiece is dry, put the canister back and replace the cover.

The metal canister must notbe put in water .

Consult a doctor immediately if:

  • the patient feels that the inhaler is not working as well as usual;
  • the patient needs to use the inhaler more often than prescribed by the doctor.

The doctor may need to check how well the medicine is working. In some cases, the doctor may change the medicine the patient is taking.

Make sure Ipravent Inhaler does not run out suddenly

The inhaler contains 200 doses of medicine. However, it is not possible to determine if the inhaler is empty or if 200 doses have been used. There may still be a small amount of liquid in the canister. Missing a dose of Ipravent Inhaler

  • If the patient forgets to take a dose, they should take it as soon as possible.
