1. Qué es Cefixima Codal y para qué se utiliza

El principio activo de Cefixima Codal es cefixima, un antibiótico de la tercera generación de las cefalosporinas. La cefixima actúa eliminando las bacterias que causan la infección.

Los antibióticos se utilizan para tratar infecciones bacterianas y no sirven para tratar infecciones víricas como la gripe o el catarro.

Es importante que siga las instrucciones relativas a la dosis, el intervalo de administración y la duración del tratamiento indicadas por su médico.

No guarde ni reutilice este medicamento. Si una vez finalizado el tratamiento le sobra antibiótico, devuélvalo a la farmacia para su correcta eliminación. No debe tirar los medicamentos por el desagüe ni a la basura.

Está indicada en las siguientes infecciones, cuando se cree que las bacterias causantes son sensibles:

  • Otitis media aguda (infección grave del oído medio).
  • Infecciones de las vías respiratorias superiores (faringitis, amigdalitis, sinusitis aguda).
  • Infecciones de las vías respiratorias inferiores (exacerbaciones agudas de bronquitis crónica, neumonía adquirida en la comunidad).
  • Infecciones de las vías urinarias (cistitis aguda, pielonefritis aguda no complicada).
  • Uretritis y cervicitis (inflamación de la uretra y del cuello (extremo inferior) útero) gonocócicas (infección causada por gonorrea) no complicadas.

2. Qué necesita saber antes de empezar a tomar Cefixima Codal

No tome Cefixima Codal

  • Si es alérgico al cefixima o a los antibióticos de la clase de las penicilinas (betalactámicos). Existe una rara posibilidad de que se produzca una reacción alérgica repentina y grave (reacción anafiláctica/shock anafiláctico) incluso con la primera clase de antibióticos. Los síntomas pueden ser opresión en el pecho, mareos, malestar (sensación general de malestar, enfermedad), desmayos o dificultad para respirar, eritema (erupción). Si experimenta alguno de estos síntomas, busque ayuda médica inmediatamente y deje de tomar Cefixima Codal.

3. Cómo tomar Cefixima Codal

Siga exactamente las instrucciones de administración de este medicamento indicadas por su médico o farmacéutico. En caso de duda, consulte de nuevo a su médico o farmacéutico.

Cefixima Codal es para uso oral.

Los comprimidos se deben tragar con un vaso de agua. Se recomienda tomar Cefixima Codal aproximadamente a la misma hora cada día.

Este medicamento se puede tomar con o sin alimentos.

El comprimido se puede partir en dosis iguales.

La dosisrecomendadaes:

Adultos o niños mayores de 12 años (o más de 30 kg de peso): 400 mg al día (1 comprimido), de una sola vez.

En pacientes de edad avanzada se puede utilizar la misma dosis que en adultos, salvo que exista insuficiencia renal grave (en este caso se debe consultar al médico).

La duración del tratamiento varía según el tipo de infección a tratar oscilando, por regla general, entre 3 y 7 días, y debe cumplirse en su totalidad.

Si toma más Cefixima Codal del que debe

Si ha tomado Cefixima Codal en exceso, consulte a su médico lo antes posible. Lleve consigo el envase y este prospecto para mostrárselo a su médico.

Si olvidó tomar Cefixima Codal

Si se olvida de tomar una dosis, tómela tan pronto como se acuerde el mismo día. Si se olvida tomarla un día, tome la dosis normal al día siguiente. No tome una dosis doble para compensar la dosis olvidada.

Si interrumpe el tratamiento con Cefixima Codal

Continúe tomando Cefixima Codal hasta el final del tratamiento, incluso si se siente mejor. Se requieren todas las dosis prescritas para combatir la infección. Si algunas bacterias sobreviven, la infección puede volver o empeorar nuevamente.

4. Posibles efectos adversos

5. Conservación de Cefixima Codal

Mantener este medicamento fuera de la vista y del alcance de los niños.

No utilice este medicamento después de la fecha de caducidad que aparece en la caja, después de “CAD”. La fecha de caducidad es el último día del mes que se indica.

Conservar por debajo de 25ºC.

Los medicamentos no se deben tirar por los desagües ni a la basura. Deposite los envases y los medicamentos que no necesita en el Punto SIGRE de la farmacia. En caso de duda, pregunte a su farmacéutico cómo deshacerse de los envases y de los medicamentos que ya no necesita. De esta forma, ayudará a proteger el medio ambiente.

Composición de Cefixima Codal

  • El principio activo es ceficima. Cada comprimido recubierto con película contiene 447,68 mg de cefixima como trihidrato, equivalentes a 400 mg de cefixima.
  • Los demás componentes son

Núcleo: celulosa microcristalina (E460), hidrógenofosfato de calcio dihidrato (E341), almidón pregelatinizado, estearato de magnesio (E470b);

Película: alcohol polivinílico (E1203), dióxido de titanio (E171), macrogol 3350 (E1521), macrogol 4000 (E1521) , talco (E553b), óxido de hierro rojo (E172), óxido de hierro amarillo (E172).

Cefixima Codal 400 mg son comprimidos recubiertos con película de color marrón claro, ovalados, biconvexos, ranurados por ambos lados y con unas dimensiones de 18,2 ± 0,3 mm x 9,2 ± 0,3 mm.
