1. Qué es Benerva solución inyectable y para qué se utiliza

Benerva contiene tiamina (vitamina B1), una vitamina hidrosoluble que interviene en muchos procesos del metabolismo humano, principalmente de los glúcidos (hidratos de carbono).

Está indicado en adultos en:

Prevención y tratamiento de deficiencia de vitamina B1 debida a un aumento de requerimientos, ingesta reducida o absorción reducida.

Situaciones frecuentemente acompañadas por deficiencia de Vitamina B1 y que requieren suplementación incluyen:

  • Consumo excesivo de alcohol regularmente.
  • Infección prolongada.
  • Enfermedades intestinales, como la enfermedad celiaca o diarrea persistente.
  • Ingestas elevadas de hidratos de carbono.
  • Estado nutricional deteriorado.

Tratamiento del beriberi (caracterizado por fatiga intensa y lentitud de movimientos, que afecta principalmente los sistemas nervioso y corazón y circulación), la enfermedad de Wernicke (afecta al sistema nervioso) y el síndrome de Korsakoff (causada por consumo excesivo de alcohol, con efectos en el cerebro).

2. Qué necesita saber antes de empezar a usar Benerva solución inyectable

No use Benerva

  • si es alérgico a la tiamina (vitamina B1) o a alguno de los demás componentes de este medicamento (incluidos en la sección 6).

Advertencias y precauciones

Consulte a su médico o farmacéutico antes de empezar a usar Benerva solución inyectable.

El riesgo de reacciones de hipersensibilidad aumenta con administraciones intravenosas o intramusculares de tiamina repetidas. Por tanto, cuando sea posible, es recomendable la administración por vía oral. Es decir, en este caso sería preferible otro medicamento en el que el principio activo se administre por vía oral.

Administrar por vía intravenosa solamente por un profesional sanitario. La administración del producto y la manipulación de las agujas deben realizarse con precaución.

Si hubiese padecido con anterioridad una alergia a la vitamina B1 al contacto con su piel (dermatitis de contacto) por motivos profesionales por ejemplo, podría sufrir una recaída al ser tratado con este medicamento.

Interferencias con pruebas analíticas: Si le van a realizar alguna prueba diagnóstica (incluidos análisis de sangre, orina, etc...) comunique al médico que está tratándose con este medicamento, ya que puede alterar los resultados. En algunas determinaciones de ácido úrico, urobilinógeno o teofilina se podrían producir falsos resultados.

Niños

No utilizar este medicamento en niños por no disponerse de datos en ellos.

Otros medicamentos y Benerva solución inyectable

Informe a su médico o farmacéutico si está tomando/utilizando, ha tomado/utilizado recientemente o pudiera tener que tomar/utilizar cualquier otro medicamento.

Benerva solución inyectable puede interaccionar con los siguientes medicamentos:

  • 5-Fluorouracilo y capecitabina (para algunos tipos de cáncer)
  • Tegafur (para algunos tipos de cáncer).

Embarazo y lactancia y fertilidad

Si está embarazada o en periodo de lactancia, cree que podría estar embarazada o tiene intención de quedarse embarazada, consulte a su médico antes de utilizar este medicamento.

No se recomienda utilizar Benerva solución inyectable si está usted embarazada o en período de lactancia.

Este medicamento no está recomendado en mujeres en edad fértil que no usen un método anticonceptivo eficaz.

Conducción y uso de máquinas

La influencia de este medicamento sobre la capacidad para conducir y utilizar máquinas es nula o insignificante.

Benerva solución inyectable contiene sodio

Este medicamento contiene menos de 1 mmol de sodio (23 mg) por ml de solución inyectable; esto es, esencialmente “exento de sodio”.

3. Cómo usar Benerva solución inyectable

Siga exactamente las instrucciones de administración de este medicamento indicadas por su médico.

En caso de duda, consulte de nuevo a su médico.

Vía intramuscular, o vía intravenosa lenta o perfusión de corta duración.

El contenido de la ampolla no debe mezclarse con ningún otro producto parenteral o fluido para inyección. La inyección debe ser administrada por un profesional sanitario cualificado.

La dosis recomendada es:

  • Adultos:

Se deben administrar 50 mg (media ampolla) de vitamina B1 al día por vía intramuscular durante varios días cuando la absorción esté afectada notablemente y también para el tratamiento del síndrome de Wernicke-Korsakoff y el beriberi.

Para el tratamiento inicial de la falta de vitamina (avitaminosis) B1 o hipovitaminosis B1 grave, la dosis diaria inicial puede ser de 100 mg o llegar a 200 mg por vía parenteral, por ejemplo intramuscular o inyección intravenosa lenta o incluso por perfusión de corta duración, para obtener tan rápido como sea posible una adecuada concentración en sangre de vitamina B1.

Para el síndrome de Wernicke-Korsakoff debido al abuso de alcohol la dosis usual es de 100 mg por vía intravenosa seguido por 50-100 mg por vía intramuscular al día hasta que el paciente consuma una dieta equilibrada.

Para el tratamiento de urgencia, 100 mg (o 200 mg, si se considera necesario, o hasta 1000 mg en las primeras 12 horas si es necesario) por vía intravenosa lenta al día durante tres días.

Se puede administrar por vía intramuscular si intravenosa no es posible. Se puede continuar con 100 mg de tiamina por vía oral.

Si usa más Benerva solución inyectable del que debe

La administración intravenosa rápida y la de dosis múltiples y/o altas aumentan la probabilidad de aparición de reacciones adversas, como reacciones anafilactoides y reacciones en el sitio de inyección.

En caso de sobredosis o ingestión accidental, consulte inmediatamente a su médico o farmacéutico o acuda a un centro médico, o llame al Servicio de Información Toxicológica, Teléfono 91 562 04 20, indicando el medicamento y la cantidad ingerida.

Si olvidó usar Benerva

No use una dosis doble para compensar las dosis olvidadas.

4. Posibles efectos adversos

Al igual que todos los medicamentos, este medicamento puede producir efectos adversos, aunque no todas las personas los sufran.

Al ser notificadas estas reacciones voluntariamente, no es posible estimar su frecuencia.

Se han notificado:

Reacciones en el sitio de inyección: frecuentemente (pueden afectar hasta 1 de cada 10 personas), dolor en el sitio de la inyección tras inyección intravenosa rápida; esta reacción se puede evitar mediante administración lenta.

Se ha informado usualmente tras inyección intravenosa, intramuscular o subcutánea de reacciones alérgicas o anafilácticas, reacciones de hipersensibilidad con sus respectivas manifestaciones clínicas y de laboratorio que incluyen síndrome asmático, reacciones leves a moderadas en la piel y/o tracto respiratorio, tracto gastrointestinal y/o sistema cardiovascular. Se han comunicado síntomas que pueden incluir erupción (rash), picor, especie de ronchas rojizas en la piel generalmente con picor (urticaria), rápida hinchazón en la piel y mucosas (angioedema) y dificultad cardio-respiratoria, así como reacciones graves que incluyen shock anafiláctico.

Si ocurre una reacción alérgica, el tratamiento debe ser interrumpido y consultar a un profesional sanitario.

Dermatitis de contacto en pacientes predispuestos.

5. Conservación de Benerva solución inyectable

Mantener este medicamento fuera de la vista y del alcance de los niños.

No conservar a temperatura superior a 25ºC.

No utilice este medicamento después de la fecha de caducidad que aparece en la etiqueta y la caja después de CAD. La fecha de caducidad es el último día del mes que se indica.

No utilice este medicamento si observa partículas visibles, la solución no es transparente o el envase está dañado.

Los medicamentos no se deben tirar por los desagües ni a la basura. Deposite los envases y los medicamentos que no necesita en el Punto SIGRE de la farmacia. Pregunte a su farmacéutico cómo deshacerse de los envases y de los medicamentos que ya no necesita. De esta forma, ayudará a proteger el medio ambiente.

Composición de Benerva solución inyectable

  • El principio activo es tiamina hidrocloruro (Vitamina B1).

Cada ampolla de 1 ml de solución contiene 100 mg de tiamina hidrocloruro.

  • Los demás componentes (excipientes) son: glicerol, fenol, fosfato sódico, hidrógeno carbonato sódico y agua para preparaciones inyectables.
