1. Qué es Zovirax y para qué se utiliza

Zovirax pertenece al grupo de medicamentos llamados antivirales.

Se utiliza en niños, adolescentes y adultos para tratar y prevenir infecciones causadas por el virus del herpes simplex, herpes genital, herpes zóster y el virus varicela.

No tome Zovirax:

  • si es alérgico al aciclovir, valaciclovir o a cualquiera de los demás componentes de este medicamento (incluidos en la sección 6).

Advertencias y precauciones

Consulte a su médico o farmacéutico antes de empezar a tomar Zovirax:

  • Si padece alguna enfermedad del riñón o tiene usted edad avanzada. Es posible que su médico necesite bajarle la dosis. Asimismo, debe beber suficiente cantidad de líquido durante el tratamiento para mantener una hidratación adecuada.
  • Si padece infección por herpes genital, se recomienda tomar precauciones durante las relaciones sexuales aunque se haya iniciado el tratamiento antiviral.

Toma de Zovirax con otros medicamentos

Comunique a su médico o farmacéutico si está utilizando, ha utilizado recientemente o podría tener que utilizar cualquier otro medicamento.

Comunique a su médico si ha tomado recientemente probenecid, cimetidina o micofenolato de mofetilo (medicamento utilizado en pacientes trasplantados).

Embarazo y lactancia

Zovirax 200 mg comprimidos dispersables contiene sodio

Este medicamento contiene menos de 23 mg de sodio (1 mmol) por comprimido; esto es, esencialmente “exento de sodio”.

3. Cómo tomar Zovirax 200 mg

Siga exactamente las instrucciones de administración de este medicamento indicadas por su médico o farmacéutico. En caso de duda, consulte de nuevo a su médico o farmacéutico.

Su médico decidirá la dosis correcta, la frecuencia y la duración del tratamiento.

Recuerde tomar su medicamento.

Su médico le indicará la duración de su tratamiento con Zovirax. No suspenda el tratamiento antes.

Las dosis habituales para adultos son:

  • para el tratamiento de infecciones producidas por herpes simplex: un comprimido de 200 mg cinco veces al día cada cuatro horas, omitiendo la dosis nocturna
  • para la supresión de recurrencias producidas por virus herpes simplex: un comprimido de 200 mg cuatro veces al día cada seis horas, o bien, dos comprimidos de 200 mg dos veces al día cada doce horas
  • para la prevención de infecciones producidas por herpes simplex en pacientes inmunodeprimidos: un comprimido de 200 mg cuatro veces al día cada seis horas
  • para el tratamiento de la varicela e infecciones por herpes zóster: cuatro comprimidos de 200 mg cinco veces al día cada cuatro horas, omitiendo la dosis nocturna.

Las dosis habituales para niños son:

  • para el tratamiento de infecciones producidas por herpes simplex y prevención de infecciones producidas por herpes simplex en niños inmunodeprimidos:
  • niños y adolescentes (de 2 a 18 años): la dosis es igual que para adultos
  • lactantes (de 28 días a 23 meses): serán tratados con la mitad de la dosis de adultos.

Existen otras presentaciones disponibles más apropiadas para niños menores de 6 años.

  • para el tratamiento de varicela:
  • niños (mayores de 6 años) y adolescentes: cuatro comprimidos de 200 mg cuatro veces al día
  • niños entre 2 y 6 años: dos comprimidos de 200 mg cuatro veces al día.

Existen otras presentaciones disponibles más apropiadas para niños menores de 6 años.

Disolver el comprimido en un mínimo de 50 ml de agua y agitar antes de tomar.

Se recomienda que beba mucho líquido mientras esté con este tratamiento.

Si estima que la acción de Zovirax es demasiado fuerte o débil, comuníqueselo a su médico o farmacéutico.

Si toma más Zovirax 200 mg comprimidos dispersables del que debe

En caso de sobredosis o ingestión accidental, consulte inmediatamente a su médico o farmacéutico o llame al Servicio de Información Toxicológica, teléfono: 91 562 04 20, indicando el medicamento y la cantidad ingerida.

Si olvidó tomar Zovirax 200 mg comprimidos dispersables

No tome una dosis doble para compensar las dosis olvidadas, simplemente espere a la siguiente dosis.

4. Posibles efectos adversos

Al igual que todos los medicamentos, este medicamento puede producir efectos adversos, aunque no todas las personas los sufran.

Efectos adversosfrecuentes (pueden afectar hasta 1 de cada 10 personas)

  • Dolor de cabeza, mareos, sensación de cansancio, fiebre.
  • Náuseas, vómitos, diarrea, dolor de estómago.
  • Prurito, erupciones cutáneas (algunas veces causadas por la sensibilidad a la luz solar).

Efectos adversospoco frecuentes (pueden afectar hasta 1 de cada 100 personas)

  • Pérdida de cabello.
  • Urticaria.

Efectos adversosraros (pueden afectar hasta 1 de cada 1.000 personas)

  • Alteración de los análisis de sangre (aumentos reversibles de bilirrubina y enzimas hepáticas, aumentos de la urea sanguínea y la creatinina).
  • Dificultad para respirar.
  • Angioedema (hinchazón de los labios, los ojos y la lengua).
  • Reacción alérgica repentina y grave (reacción anafiláctica).

Efectos adversos muy raros (pueden afectar hasta 1 de cada 10.000 personas)

  • Anemia (descenso del número de glóbulos rojos) o leucopenia (descenso del número de glóbulos blancos), cardenales (por descenso en el número de plaquetas).
  • Agitación, confusión, temblores, dificultad de movimientos, dificultad al hablar, confusión o imaginación de cosas (alucinaciones), alteraciones en la personalidad y el comportamiento de la persona, convulsiones, somnolencia, encefalopatía (alteración en el cerebro), coma. Estos efectos son generalmente reversibles y normalmente aparecieron en pacientes con trastornos de los riñones o con factores predisponentes.
  • Hepatitis (inflamación del hígado), ictericia (color amarillo de la piel y ojos), fallo renal agudo, dolor renal (puede estar asociado a fallo renal).

5. Conservación de Zovirax

Mantener este medicamento fuera de la vista y del alcance de los niños.

No conservar a temperatura superior a 30ºC. Conservar en el embalaje original para protegerlo de la humedad.

No utilice este medicamento después de la fecha de caducidad que aparece en el envase después de CAD. La fecha de caducidad es el último día del mes que se indica.

Los medicamentos no se deben tirar por los desagües ni a la basura. Deposite los envases y los medicamentos que no necesita en el Punto SIGRE de la farmacia. En caso de duda pregunte a su farmacéutico cómo deshacerse de los envases y de los medicamentos que no necesita. De esta forma, ayudará a proteger el medio ambiente.

Composición deZovirax 200 mg comprimidos dispersables

  • El principio activo es aciclovir. Cada comprimido contiene 200 mg de aciclovir.
  • Los demás componentes (excipientes) son: núcleo: celulosa microcristalina (E460), silicato de aluminio y magnesio, carboximetilalmidón sódico (tipo A) (de patata), povidona K30, estearato de magnesio (E572). Recubrimiento:, dióxido de titanio (E171), hipromelosa, macrogol 400, macrogol 8000.
