Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

If you get any of the following symptoms after using this medicine, you should contact your doctor and stop using Salofalk 1g Suppositories immediately:

  • General allergic reactionssuch as skin rashes, fever, joint pain, and/or breathing difficulties or a general inflammation of your large intestine (which causes severe diarrhea and abdominal pain). These reactions are very rare.
  • A marked decrease in your general health, especially if accompanied by fever and/or sore throat and mouth. Other blood cells (such as platelets or red blood cells, which cause aplastic anemia or thrombocytopenia) may also be affected and cause symptoms that can include unexplained bleeding, bruising, or purple spots under the skin, anemia (feeling tired, weak, and pale, especially in the lips and nails). A blood test can confirm if your symptoms are due to an effect of this medicine on your blood. These reactions are very rare.
    • Severe skin rashes with reddish patches, or circular or coin-shaped patches on the chest, often with central blisters, skin peeling, ulcers in the mouth, throat, nose, genitals, and eyes, generalized rash, fever, and enlargement of the lymph nodes. These can be preceded by fever or flu-like symptoms. These reactions occur in an unknown number of patients (frequency not known).
    • Breathing difficulties, chest pain, or irregular heartbeats, or swollen limbs that may indicate cardiac hypersensitivity reactions. These reactions are rare.
    • Kidney problems(can occur very rarely), such as a change in the color or amount of urine produced and swollen limbs or sudden pain in the side (caused by a kidney stone) (occur in an unknown number of patients (frequency not known)).
