1. Qué es Furacín solución cutánea y para qué se utiliza

El Nitrofural, principio activo del medicamento, es un derivado de nitrofurano con actividad antiséptica y desinfectante, con acción antibacteriana para la mayor parte de los gérmenes patógenos que normalmente causan infecciones en la superficie de la piel.

Furacin s olución cutánea está indicado en adultos, para la aplicación local en:

Tratamiento alternativo de quemaduras de segundo y tercer grado. Infecciones de la piel. Preparación de superficies en injertos de piel, donde la contaminación bacteriana puede causar rechazo del injerto o infección en el trozo donante, especialmente en centros con historia de resistencia bacteriana.

2. Antes de usar Furacín solución cutánea

No use Furacinsolución cutánea

  • Si es alérgico (hipersensible) al principio activo o a cualquiera de los demás componentes de Furacin solución cutánea.

Tenga especial cuidado con Furacin solución cutánea

  • Si usted padece alguna enfermedad renal, ya que los macrogoles presentes como excipientes podrían absorberse, y su acumulación puede producirle un aumento del riesgo de presentar reacciones adversas.

No hay información adecuada sobre el uso del nitrofural en mujeres embarazadas. Durante el embarazo sólo debería usarse Furacin solución cutánea si el posible beneficio justificase algún riesgo potencial para el feto.

3. Cómo usar Furacín solución cutánea

Siga exactamente las instrucciones de administración de Furacin solución cutánea indicadas por su médico. Consulte a su médico o farmacéutico si tiene dudas.

Furacin solución cutánea es para uso cutáneo.

La dosis normal es:

Adultos: Aplicar directamente sobre la lesión o impregnar previamente una gasa estéril y recubrir la lesión; aplicar una vez al día o cada pocos días, dependiendo de la técnica de vendaje.

Si los síntomas empeoran o no mejoran después de 3 días de tratamiento con Furacín solución cutánea, debe interrumpir el tratamiento y consultar a su médico.

No hay experiencia en niños.

Los pacientes de edad avanzada, por tener probablemente un deterioro de la función renal relacionado con la edad, pueden requerir dosis menores de nitrofural (ver en el epígrafe 2, más arriba: Uso en pacientes de edad avanzada).

Si usa más Furacin solución cutánea de lo que debiera

Si su función renal es normal, aplicando el producto en uso cutáneo no es probable que se produzca sobredosis. En caso de ingestión accidental tenga en cuenta que nitrofural es un producto tóxico cuando se ingiere y los efectos adversos afectan a los nervios, y en los pacientes con deficiencia de glucosa-6-fosfato deshidrogenasa puede aparecer hemólisis (liberación de hemoglobina contenida en los glóbulos rojos).

No use una dosis doble para compensar las dosis olvidadas.

Si usted olvida una dosis, aplíquela tan pronto como sea posible y continúe con su horario habitual de dosificación.

4. Posibles efectos adversos

Al igual que todos los medicamentos, Furacin solución cutánea puede producir efectos adversos, aunque no todas las personas los sufran.

Los efectos adversos observados se describen a continuación según la frecuencia de presentación.

Trastornos de la piel y del tejido subcutáneo

Frecuentes: al menos 1 de cada 100 pacientes pueden presentar reacciones alérgicas, como dermatitis de contacto (enrojecimiento, picor, erupción, hinchazón, etc).

Frecuencia no conocida (no puede estimarse a partir de los datos disponibles): también podrían aparecer micosis por sobrecrecimiento de hongos.

Trastornos renales y urinarios

Frecuencia no conocida (no puede estimarse a partir de los datos disponibles): en pacientes con enfermedad renal, pueden producirse síntomas de deterioro renal progresivo si se produce acumulación de los macrogoles (excipientes), como aumento del nitrógeno ureico en sangre, laguna aniónica y acidosis metabólica (ver en el epígrafe 2, el apartado: Información importante sobre algunos de los componentes de Furacin solución cutánea).

Si considera que alguno de los efectos adversos que sufre es grave o si aprecia cualquier efecto adverso no mencionado en este prospecto, informe a su médico o farmacéutico.

5. Conservación de Furacín solución cutánea

Mantener fuera del alcance y de la vista de los niños.

No utilice Furacin solución cutánea después de la fecha de caducidad que aparece en el envase después de CAD. La fecha de caducidad es el último día del mes que se indica.

No conservar a temperatura superior a 30ºC y mantener el envase perfectamente cerrado para protegerlo de la luz solar directa, luz fluorescente intensa y materiales alcalinos.

Los medicamentos no se deben tirar por los desagües ni a la basura. Deposite los envases y los medicamentos que no necesita en el punto SIGRE de la farmacia. En caso de duda pregunte a su farmacéutico cómo deshacerse de los envases y de los medicamentos que no necesita. De esta forma, ayudará a proteger el medio ambiente.
