1. Qué es VEROLAX y para qué se utiliza

El glicerol, principio activo de este medicamento es un laxante, que se administra por vía rectal. El efecto laxante se consigue por la capacidad del glicerol de ablandar las heces que, junto a una ligera acción irritante local, consigue estimular los movimientos del intestino.

Está indicado para el alivio local sintomático del estreñimiento transitorio y ocasional para niños de entre 2 y 12 años.

2. Antes de usar VEROLAX

  • Si es alérgico (hipersensible) al glicerol o a cualquiera de los demás componentes de este medicamento.
  • Si padece alguna enfermedad anorectal, rectocolitis hemorrágica (un tipo de inflamación crónica del intestino) y hemorroides inflamadas.
  • Si tiene retortijones, cólicos, nauseas, vómitos u otros signos de apendicitis, obstrucción intestinal, enfermedades intestinales inflamatorias agudas o en general, cualquier situación de dolor abdominal, sin conocer la causa que los produce.
  • Niños menores de 2 años.

Tenga especial cuidado con VEROLAX

En caso de la aparición de sangre en heces, irritación, dolor o que no mejora debe interrumpir el tratamiento y consultar al médico.

No use este mediamento más de 7 días seguidos, salvo que su médico se lo indique indique.

Este medicamento se utilizará únicamente bajo estricto control médico, en pacientes con enfermedades graves, especialmente, cardiovasculares (relativas al corazón o a los vasos ságuineos).

3. Cómo usar VEROLAX

Siga exactamente las instrucciones de administración de VEROLAX indicadas por su médico.

La dosis normal es:

Niños de 2 a 12 años: 1 envase unidosis al día.

Este medicamento se administra por vía rectal.

Instrucciones para la correcta administración del medicamento:

  1. Abrir el aplicador, cogiéndolo por el cuello y girar el tapón, facilitando la rotura del precinto.

Dispositivo autoinyector con manos sujetándolo y presionando para administrar la inyección en la piel

  1. Oprimir ligeramente para que unas gotas del medicamento humedezcan el extremo de la cánula, con objeto de facilitar su introducción en el recto.
  2. Introducir la cánula del aplicador en el recto suave y lentamente.
  3. Introducir el contenido del aplicador presionando sobre las paredes del fuelle y sin dejar de presionar retirarlo suavemente una vez terminada la aplicación.

Cada aplicador está cargado con un exceso de producto, que queda en el aplicador tras su uso de forma que la cantidad que se libera en la aplicación es la dosis completa y no es necesario vaciarlo totalmente, lo que facilita su manipulación. Debe desecharse tras su uso.

Si en el momento de la administración nota resistencia, debe interrumpir la misma, ya que puede resultar perjudicial y dañina.

No se debe utilizar el medicamento durante más de 7 días seguidos. Si los síntomas no mejoran debe suspender el tratamiento y consultar al médico.

Si usa más VEROLAX del que debiera

No es probable que se produzcan cuadros de intoxicación, debido a su uso.

El uso abusivo y prolongado de este medicamento puede dar lugar a un síndrome de colon irritable (síntomas o molestias como alternancia del estreñimiento y de la diarrea, espasmos intestinales, hinchazón, náuseas y gases).

En caso de sobredosis o ingestión accidental consulte a su médico, farmacéutico o llame al Servicio de Información Toxicológica, teléfono 91.562.04.20 indicando el medicamento y la cantidad ingerida.

4. Posibles efectos adversos

Al igual que todos los medicamentos, VEROLAX puede producir efectos adversos, aunque no todas las personas los sufran.

Durante el periodo de utilización de VEROLAX solución rectal como laxante , se han observado los siguientes efectos adversos cuya frecuencia no se ha podido establecer con exactitud:

picor, dolor e irritación del ano.

Muy raramente en pacientes alérgicos se han producido reacciones de hipersensibilidad a la manzanilla (por ejemplo dermatitis de contacto). Después de su uso interno estas podrían ser graves, y podrían ser: hichazón de la cara, labios, boca, lengua o garganta que causan dificultad al tragar o respirar.

Si considera que alguno de los efectos adversos que sufre es grave o si aprecia cualquier efecto adverso no mencionado en este prospecto, informe a su médico o farmacéutico.

5. Conservación de VEROLAX

Mantener fuera del alcance y de la vista de los niños.

No requiere condiciones especiales de conservación.

No utilice VEROLAX después de la fecha de caducidad que aparece en el envase, después de CAD. La fecha de caducidad es el último día del mes que se indica.

Los medicamentos no se deben tirar por los desagües ni a la basura. Pregunte a su farmacéutico cómo deshacerse de los envases y de los medicamentos que no necesita. De esta forma ayudará a proteger el medio ambiente.

6. INFORMACIÓN ADICIONAL

Composición de VEROLAX

  • El principio activo es glicerol. Cada envase unidosis con 2,5 ml de solución rectal contiene 1,8 ml de glicerol.
  • Los demás componentes (excipiente) son: extracto fluido de Malva sylvestris, extracto fluido de Matricaria chamomilla, almidón de trigo y agua purificada.

VEROLAX se presenta en forma de solución rectal de color marrón claro.

El medicamento se encuentra envasado en un envase unidosis en forma de fuelle de 2,5 ml, provisto de una cánula de plástico y un tapón de cierre. Estos se envasan en una caja que contiene 6 envases unidosis.
