1. What is Mentholated Vaseline Orravan and what is it used for
It contains menthol as the active ingredient, which, when applied to the skin, causes a sensation of cold followed by an analgesic (pain-relieving) effect and also has decongestant properties.
Mentholated Vaseline Orravan is indicated for:
- Symptomatic relief of superficial skin pains such as itching and hives (rashes on the skin with itching in general), and neuropathic pains (of nervous origin).
- When applied to the chest, relief of nasal congestion symptoms.
2. What you need to know before starting to use Mentholated Vaseline Orravan
Do not use Mentholated Vaseline Orravan:
- If you are allergic to menthol or to the other component of this medication, vaseline.
- In children under 3 years of age.
- In areas of infected, inflamed, or wounded skin, or in inflammatory skin diseases.
Warnings and Precautions
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Mentholated Vaseline Orravan.
- It is a medication exclusively for external use.
- Avoid contact with the eyes.
- Do not ingest.
- If the discomfort persists during treatment, consult your doctor.
Children and Adolescents
Do not use this medication in children under 3 years of age for safety reasons.
Using Mentholated Vaseline Orravan with Other Medications
The use of this medication does not interact with the use of other medications.
Pregnancy, Breastfeeding, and Fertility
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or plan to become pregnant, consult your doctor before using this medication.
This medication can be used during pregnancy on the skin, but only if there are no other safer alternatives.
Do not apply the medication to the breasts if you are breastfeeding a baby.
Driving and Using Machines

3. How to Use Mentholated Vaseline Orravan
Follow the administration instructions for the medication contained in this package leaflet or as indicated by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The recommended dose is:
Adults and children over 3 years:
- As an analgesic, apply a thin layer of the product to the affected area twice a day.
- As a decongestant, apply a thin layer of the ointment to the chest at night before bed.
For skin use.
Apply the ointment with a gentle massage.
Wash your hands after each application.
If the symptoms worsen or persist after 5 days of treatment, consult your doctor.
Use in Children
Do not use this medication in children under 3 years of age.
If You Use More Mentholated Vaseline Orravan Than You Should
Given the type of medication and the route of administration, it is not expected to cause intoxication due to overdose.
Accidental ingestion of large amounts of menthol can cause digestive disorders such as nausea, vomiting, or drowsiness. Inhalation of high amounts of menthol can cause adverse effects.
Symptomatic treatment will be necessary.
In case of overdose or accidental ingestion, consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately or call the Toxicology Information Service, Phone: 91 562 04 20, indicating the medication and the amount ingested (or go to a medical center).
If You Forget to Use Mentholated Vaseline Orravan
Do not apply a double dose to make up for forgotten doses.
If you have any other doubts about the use of this medication, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
4. Possible Side Effects
Like all medications, this medication can cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them.
During the period of use of Mentholated Vaseline Orravan, no side effects have been reported.
However, some side effects may occur:
Hypersensitivity reactions to menthol, such as contact dermatitis, may occur. Rarely, sensitivity reactions to vaseline may occur.
Acne has also been reported.

5. Storage of Mentholated Vaseline Orravan
Keep below 30°C.
Keep this medication out of sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medication after the expiration date shown on the packaging after CAD. The expiration date is the last day of the month indicated.
Medications should not be disposed of through wastewater or household waste. Deposit the packaging and any unused medication in the pharmacy's SIGRE point. If in doubt, ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the packaging and any unused medication. This will help protect the environment.
6. Package Contents and Additional Information
Composition of Mentholated Vaseline Orravan 20 mg/g Ointment
- The active ingredient is menthol. Each gram of ointment contains 20 mg of menthol (2%).
- The other component (excipient) is vaseline.
Appearance of the Product and Package Contents
The medication is presented in the form of an ointment; it is white, greasy to the touch.
It is presented in an aluminum tube containing 13 g of ointment.
