Aciclovirum
Read the package leaflet carefully before using the medicine, as it contains important information for the patient.
This medicine should always be used exactly as described in the package leaflet for the patient or as directed by a doctor or pharmacist.
Keep this leaflet, you may need to read it again.
If you need advice or additional information, consult a pharmacist.
If the patient experiences any side effects, including any possible side effects not listed in the leaflet, they should tell their doctor or pharmacist.
See section 4.
If there is no improvement after 10 days or the patient feels worse, they should contact their doctor.

1. What is Hascovir pro and what is it used for

Hascovir pro cream contains the active substance acyclovir. After application to the skin, acyclovir exhibits strong activity against the herpes simplex virus (Herpes simplex).

Indications

Hascovir pro is used for the local treatment of symptoms of cold sores (herpes labialis) and herpes simplex virus (Herpes simplex) infections on the face.

2. Important Information Before Using Hascovir pro

When not to use Hascovir pro
if the patient is allergic to acyclovir, propylene glycol, cetyl alcohol, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions
Caution should be exercised when using Hascovir pro in children, as there is insufficient data on the safety and efficacy of the medicine in children.
Contact with the eyes and mucous membranes should be avoided. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water.

3. How to Use Hascovir pro

Always use Hascovir pro exactly as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Adults and children over 12 years:
Apply a thin layer of cream to the affected area 5 times a day, every 4 hours, for 5 days.
Treatment should be started as soon as possible after the first symptoms appear (tingling, burning, redness).
Do not stop treatment prematurely, even if symptoms disappear, as this may cause the infection to recur.

4. Possible Side Effects

Like all medicines, Hascovir pro can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 people)

  • Transient burning sensation or itching at the application site.

Uncommon (may affect up to 1 in 100 people)

  • Itching of the skin at the application site.
  • Rash.

Rare (may affect up to 1 in 1000 people)

  • Allergic reactions, such as hives, angioedema (swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat).

5. How to Store Hascovir pro

Store at room temperature, in a dry and dark place.
The medicine should be stored out of the reach of children.

6. Contents of the Pack and Other Information

What the pack contains
Active substance: acyclovir.
1 g of cream contains 50 mg of acyclovir.
Excipients: propylene glycol, white petrolatum, cetyl alcohol, liquid paraffin, purified water.
What Hascovir pro looks like and what the pack contains
Cream for external use.
Hascovir pro cream is white or almost white, smooth cream.
Packaging: aluminum tube with a screw cap, containing 20 g of cream.

People with weakened immunity should not use the medicine without consulting a doctor.

During treatment, do not scratch or damage blisters and scabs, especially when washing and drying the skin.
To limit the risk of transmission, do not allow others to touch the herpetic skin lesions, use shared towels, etc.

Hascovir pro and Other Medicines

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines you are taking, have recently taken, or might take.
No interactions with other medicines and other types of interactions are known.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
The medicine may be used in pregnant women only if, in the doctor's opinion, the benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.

Driving and Using Machines

The medicine has no effect on the ability to drive and use machines.

Hascovir pro Contains Propylene Glycol

The medicine may cause skin irritation.

Hascovir pro Contains Cetyl Alcohol

The medicine may cause local skin reactions (e.g., contact dermatitis).

3. How to Use Hascovir pro

This medicine should always be used exactly as described in the package leaflet for the patient or as directed by a doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
The medicine is intended for external use on the skin.
Herpetic lesions and their immediate surroundings should be applied with a small amount of medicine 5 times a day (every 4 hours). It is best to start treatment when the first symptoms of infection appear (tingling, burning, or stinging). Immediate use of the medicine at the right time may prevent or alleviate the development of the infection.
To prevent recurrences of herpes, apply the medicine for 5 days after the symptoms have disappeared.
Do not stop treatment prematurely, even if the symptoms have disappeared. Too short a treatment may cause the infection to recur.
If a dose is missed, use the medicine as soon as possible according to the instructions. Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

4. Possible Side Effects

Like any medicine, this medicine may cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

  • Local skin reactions at the application site (e.g., burning, itching, redness, dry skin).
  • In rare cases, allergic reactions may occur (e.g., rash, itching, swelling).

If any side effects occur, stop using the medicine and consult a doctor or pharmacist.

Store at room temperature, in a dry and dark place.
The medicine should be stored out of the reach of children.

Store below 25°C. Store the tube tightly closed.
Do not store below 15°C. Do not store in the refrigerator or freeze.
The medicine should be stored out of sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the packaging. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month stated.

The active substance of the medicine is acyclovir, 1 g of cream contains 50 mg of acyclovir.
