1. Qué es Menalmina 10 mg/ml solución cutánea y para qué se utiliza

Menalmina 10 mg/ml solución cutánea es un medicamento para uso cutáneo cuyo principio activo es la clorhexidina digluconato. La clorhexidina es un antiséptico que se aplica sobre la piel.

Está indicado como antiséptico para pequeñas heridas superficiales como quemaduras leves, arañazos, cortes y abrasiones en adultos, adolescentes, niños y bebés a partir de 2 meses de edad o mayores.

2. Que necesita saber antes de empezar a tomar Menalmina 10 mg/ml solución cutánea

No use Menalmina 10 mg/ml solución cutánea:

-Si es alérgico a clorhexidina digluconato o a cualquiera de los demás componentes de este medicamento (incluidos en la sección 6).

-En los oídos, especialmente si el timpano está dañado.

Advertencias y precauciones

Consulte a su médico o farmacéutico antes de empezar a usar Menalmina 10 mg/ml solución cutánea.

-Este medicamento es exclusivamente de uso externo sobre la piel. No ingerir.

-Evitar el contacto con los oídos o el interior de la boca u otras mucosas. En caso de contacto accidental lavar inmediatamente con abundante agua.

-Menalmina 10 mg/ml solución cutánea no debe entrar en contacto con los ojos debido al riesgo de lesiones visuales. Si entra en contacto con los ojos, lávese inmediata y abundantemente con agua. En caso de irritación, enrojecimiento o dolor en los ojos, o alteraciones visuales, consulte a un médico inmediatamente.

Se han notificado casos graves de lesión persistente de la córnea (lesión de la superficie del ojo) que podría llegar a requerir un trasplante de córnea cuando productos similares han entrado accidentalmente en contacto con los ojos durante intervenciones quirúrgicas, en pacientes con anestesia general (sueño profundo inducido indoloro).

-No debe utilizarse en caso de heridas profundas y extensas sin consultar al médico.

-No debe aplicarse repetidamente, ni utilizarse sobre grandes superficies, con vendaje oclusivo (no transpirable), sobre la piel lesionada y en mucosas.

-No debe utilizarse para la asepsia de zonas de punción o inyección, ni para la desinfección del material quirúrgico.

-Menalmina 10 mg/ml solución cutánea puede causar quemaduras químicas en la piel. No use elevadas cantidades y evite que la solución se acumule en los pliegues de la piel, bajo el paciente o que empape las sabanas u otro material húmedo en contacto directo con el paciente.

Niños

Utilizar con cuidado en neonatos, especialmente aquellos nacidos antes de la semana 32 de gestación y en las primeras semanas de vida.

Informe a su médico o farmacéutico si está utilizando, ha utilizado recientemente o pudiera tener que utilizar cualquier otro medicamento.

Debe evitarse el uso de varios antisépticos a la vez o de forma sucesiva.

No debe usarse en combinación ni después de la aplicación de jabones aniónicos, yodo, sales de metales pesados y ácidos.

Embarazo, lactancia y fertilidad

Si está embarazada o en periodo de lactancia, cree que podría estar embarazada o tiene intención de quedarse embarazada, consulte a su médico o farmacéutico antes de utilizar este medicamento.

No existen riesgos conocidos con el uso de Menalmina 10 mg/ml solución cutánea durante el embarazo o lactancia.Se desconoce si clorhexidina digluconato o alguno de sus metabolitos se excreta en la leche materna. No se prevén efectos durante el embarazo, ni en los recién nacidos ni lactantes, ya que la exposición sistémica a la clorhexidina es insignificante. Menalmina 10 mg/ml solución cutánea puede utilizarse durante el embarazo o la lactancia. Las mujeres lactantes deben evitar usarlo en sus senos.

Conducción y uso de máquinas

La influencia de este medicamento sobre la capacidad para conducir o utilizar máquinas es nula o Insignificante.

3. Cómo usar Menalmina 10 mg/ml solución cutánea

Siga exactamente las instrucciones de administración de este medicamento indicadas por su médico o farmacéutico. En caso de duda, consulte de nuevo a su médico o farmacéutico.

Uso externo.

Se recomienda limpiar y secar la herida antes de aplicar Menalmina 10 mg/ml solución cutánea. Aplicar directamente sobre la zona afectada, o bien mediante una gasa, una o dos veces al día aplicando suficiente producto para cubrir toda la superficie de la herida.

La duración del tratamiento depende del tipo y curso de la herida y según la experiencia, es de aproximadamente 1 a 2 semanas

En caso de ingestión accidental proceder al lavado gástrico y protección de la mucosa gástrica. Acudir a un centro médico y/o llamar al Servicio Nacional de Toxicología Tel.91 562 04 20, indicando el producto y la cantidad ingerida.

4. Posibles efectos adversos

Al igual que todos los medicamentos, este medicamento puede producir efectos adversos, aunque no todas las personas los sufran.

5. Conservación de Menalmina 10 mg/ml solución cutánea

Conservar en el embalaje original para protegerlo de la luz.

Mantener este medicamento fuera de la vista y del alcance de los niños.

No utilice este medicamento después de la fecha de caducidad que aparece en la etiqueta del envase después de “CAD”. La fecha de caducidad es el último día del mes que se indica.

Los medicamentos no se deben tirar por los desagües ni a la basura. Deposite los envases y los medicamentos que no necesita en el Punto SIGRE de la farmacia. Pregunte a su farmacéutico cómo deshacerse de los envases y de los medicamentos que ya no necesita. De esta forma, ayudará a proteger el medio ambiente.

Composición de Menalmina 10 mg/ml solución cutánea

-El principio activo es clorhexidina digluconato. Cada ml contiene 10 mg de clorhexidina digluconato. El excipiente es agua purificada.

Información adicional

Las ropas que hayan estado en contacto con este medicamento, no deben lavarse con lejía ni otros hipocloritos pues se produciría una coloración parduzca en los tejidos, sino con detergentes domésticos a base de perborato sódico.

Aspecto del producto y contenido del envase

Solución transparente o ligeramente amarilla.

Se presenta en un frasco de plástico de 40 ml (provisto de obturador y tapón de rosca) o en 10 envases unidosis de 3ml.
