1. What Loratadina Viatris is and what it is used for

Loratadina Viatris contains the active substance loratadine, which belongs to a group of medicines known as antihistamines.

This medicine helps to reduce your allergy symptoms by blocking the effects of a substance called "histamine", which is produced in the body when you are allergic to something.

This medicine relieves symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis (e.g., hay fever), such as sneezing, runny or itchy nose, and itching or redness of the eyes.

You should consult a doctor if your symptoms worsen or do not improve after 7 days.

2. What you need to know before taking Loratadina Viatris

Do not take Loratadina Viatris:

  • If you are allergic to loratadine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

Warnings and precautions

Be particularly careful with loratadine if:

  • You have liver disease.
  • You are going to undergo any type of skin allergy test. Do not take this medicine during the 2 days prior to the test, as it may alter the results.

Children and adolescents

This medicine is not recommended for children under 2 years of age.

Adults and children with severe liver problems

Adults and children weighing over 30 kg

Take 1 tablet once a day, every other day, with a glass of water, with or without food.

However, consult your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse before taking this medicine.

If your symptoms worsen or persist after 7 days of treatment, consult a doctor.

If you take more Loratadina Viatris than you should

If you take more loratadine than you should, consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

Somnolence, palpitations, and headache have been reported with overdose of this medicine.

In case of overdose or accidental ingestion, consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately or call the Toxicology Information Service (Telephone 91 562 04 20), indicating the medicine and the amount ingested.

If you forget to take Loratadina Viatris

If you forget to take your dose on time, take it as soon as possible, and then return to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for forgotten doses.

Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Place the packaging and any unused medicines in the pharmacy's SIGRE collection point.
