1. Qué es LIVTENCITY y para qué se utiliza

LIVTENCITY es un medicamento antiviral que contiene el principio activo maribavir.

Es un medicamento utilizado para tratar a adultos que han recibido un trasplante de órganos o de médula ósea y han desarrollado una infección por CMV («citomegalovirus») que no ha desaparecido o que ha vuelto a aparecer después de tomar otro medicamento antiviral.

El CMV es un virus que muchas personas tienen sin síntomas y normalmente permanece en el cuerpo sin causar ningún daño. Sin embargo, si el sistema inmunitario se debilita tras recibir un trasplante de órganos o de médula ósea, puede correr un mayor riesgo de enfermar a causa del CMV.

2. Qué necesita saber antes de empezar a tomar LIVTENCITY

No tome LIVTENCITY

  • si es alérgico al principio activo o a alguno de los demás componentes de este medicamento (incluidos en la sección 6).
  • si toma alguno de estos medicamentos:
  • ganciclovir (utilizado para gestionar la infección por CMV)
  • valganciclovir (utilizado para gestionar la infección por CMV)

No se le debe administrar LIVTENCITY si se da alguna de las circunstancias anteriores. En caso de duda, consulte a su médico, farmacéutico o enfermero antes de que le administren LIVTENCITY.

Advertencias y precauciones

Consulte a su médico o farmacéutico antes de tomar LIVTENCITY si ya está en tratamiento con ciclosporina, tacrolimus, sirolimus o everolimus (medicamentos para prevenir el rechazo del trasplante). Es posible que se necesiten análisis de sangre adicionales para verificar las concentraciones de estos medicamentos en la sangre. Las concentraciones elevadas de estos medicamentos pueden causar efectos secundarios graves.

Niños y adolescentes

LIVTENCITY no debe utilizarse en niños ni en adolescentes menores de 18 años, ya que LIVTENCITY no se ha probado en este grupo de edad.

Otros medicamentos y LIVTENCITY

Embarazo

Si está embarazada, cree que podría estar embarazada o tiene intención de quedarse embarazada, consulte a su médico antes de utilizar este medicamento. No se recomienda utilizar LIVTENCITY durante el embarazo, ya que no se ha estudiado en el embarazo y se desconoce si LIVTENCITY puede dañar al bebé mientras está embarazada.

Lactancia

Si está dando el pecho o planea darle el pecho a su hijo, consulte a su médico antes de tomar este medicamento. No se recomienda la lactancia durante el tratamiento con LIVTENCITY, ya que se desconoce si LIVTENCITY puede pasar a la leche materna o si afectaría al bebé.

Conducción y uso de máquinas

La influencia de LIVTENCITY sobre la capacidad para conducir y utilizar máquinas es nula.

LIVTENCITY contiene sodio

Este medicamento contiene menos de 1 mmol de sodio (23 mg) por comprimido; esto es, esencialmente «exento de sodio».

3. Cómo tomar LIVTENCITY

Siga exactamente las instrucciones de administración de este medicamento indicadas por su médico, farmacéutico o enfermero. En caso de duda, pregunte a su médico, farmacéutico o enfermero.

La dosis recomendada es de 400 mg dos veces al día. Es decir, debe tomar dos comprimidos de LIVTENCITY 200 mg por la mañana y otros dos comprimidos de 200 mg por la noche. Puede tomar este medicamento con o sin alimentos, en forma de comprimido entero o triturado.

Si toma más LIVTENCITY del que debe

Si toma una cantidad excesiva de LIVTENCITY, informe a su médico inmediatamente.

Si olvidó tomar LIVTENCITY

Si olvida una dosis y faltan 3 horas o menos para tomar la siguiente dosis, sáltese la dosis olvidada y vuelva al horario regular. No tome una dosis doble para compensar las dosis olvidadas.

Si interrumpe el tratamiento con LIVTENCITY

Aunque se sienta mejor, no deje de tomar LIVTENCITY sin antes consultar a su médico. Tomar LIVTENCITY de la manera recomendada debería darle la mejor oportunidad de eliminar la infección y/o la enfermedad por CMV.

5. Conservación de LIVTENCITY

Mantener este medicamento fuera de la vista y del alcance de los niños.

No utilice este medicamento después de la fecha de caducidad que aparece en la caja y en la etiqueta del frasco después de CAD. La fecha de caducidad es el último día del mes que se indica.

No conservar a temperatura superior a 30 ºC.

Los medicamentos no se deben tirar por los desagües ni a la basura. Pregunte a su farmacéutico cómo deshacerse de los envases y de los medicamentos que ya no necesita. De esta forma, ayudará a proteger el medio ambiente.

6. Contenido del envase e información adicional

Composición de LIVTENCITY

  • El principio activo es maribavir. Cada comprimido recubierto con película contiene 200 mg de maribavir
  • Los demás componentes (excipientes) son
  • Núcleo del comprimido:
  • Celulosa microcristalina (E460(i)), glicolato sódico de almidón (ver sección 2), estearato de magnesio (E470b)
  • Recubrimiento de película:
  • Alcohol polivinílico (E1203), Macrogol (es decir, polietilenglicol) (E1521), dióxido de titanio (E171), talco (E553b), azul brillante FCF aluminio lago (UE) (E133)

Aspecto del producto y contenido del envase

Los comprimidos recubiertos con película de LIVTENCITY 200 mg son azules y tienen forma ovalada y convexa, con la inscripción «SHP» en una cara y «620» en la otra.

Los comprimidos se envasan en frascos de polietileno de alta densidad (HDPE) con tapón a prueba de niños y contienen 28, 56 o 112 (2 frascos de 56) comprimidos recubiertos con película.

Puede que solamente estén comercializados algunos tamaños de envases.
