1. Qué es Kilor y para qué se utiliza

Kilor pertenece a un grupo de medicamentos denominados preparados orales de hierro trivalente.

Kilor normaliza los parámetros hematológicos alterados en los estados deficitarios de hierro.

Kilor se utiliza en pacientes adultos para el tratamiento de la anemia ferropénica y de los estados carenciales de hierro.

2. Qué necesita saber antes de empezar a tomar Kilor

No tome Kilor:

  • si es alérgico al ferrimanitol ovoalbúmina o a alguno de los demás componentes de este medicamento (incluidos en la sección 6).
  • si padece hemosiderosis y hemocromatosis (enfermedades por depósito de hierro).
  • si tiene anemias no relacionadas con déficit de hierro, tales como anemia aplásica, hemolítica y sideroblástica.
  • si padece pancreatitis crónica y cirrosis hepática.
  • si padece inflamación crónica del páncreas y cirrosis del hígado.

Advertencias y precauciones

Consulte a su médico o farmacéutico antes de empezar a tomar Kilor.

Si padece o ha padecido úlcera gástrica o duodenal, enfermedades inflamatorias del intestino, colitis ulcerosa o insuficiencia hepática.

Si esta usted está tomando o va a comenzar a tomar algún medicamento antiácido, tetraciclinas, quinolonas, sales de calcio o levodopa.

Consulte a su médico si cualquiera de las circunstancias anteriormente mencionadas le hubieran ocurrido alguna vez.

Otros medicamentos y Kilor

Informe a su médico o farmacéutico si está tomando, ha tomado recientemente algún medicamento o pudiera tener que tomar cualquier otro medicamento.

Kilor no se debe administrar conjuntamente con:

  • Tetraciclinas o penicilamina debido a que pueden disminuir mutuamente la absorción oral.
  • Sales de calcio, quinolonas (ciprofloxacina, etc.) y levodopa, porque los preparados de hierro pueden disminuir la absorción de estos medicamentos.
  • Antiácidos, ya que pueden disminuir la absorción de los preparados de hierro.

La toma de cualquiera de estos medicamentos se distanciará como mínimo 2 horas de la administración de Kilor.

Toma de Kilor con alimentos y bebidas

Kilor no debe ser administrado conjuntamente con leche ni derivados lácteos.

Embarazo, lactancia y fertilidad

Si está embarazada o en periodo de lactancia, cree que podría estar embarazada o tiene intención de quedarse embarazada, consulte a su médico o farmacéutico antes de utilizar este medicamento.

En estudios realizados con ferrimanitol ovoalbúmina en mujeres embarazadas no se han detectado problemas para el feto. No se dispone de datos referentes a la excreción de ferrimanitol ovoalbúmina por la leche materna.

Conducción y uso de máquinas

No se han descrito signos de afectación de la capacidad de conducir vehículos y utilizar maquinaria.

Kilor contiene lactosa, sacarosa, alcohol bencílico y sodio

Este medicamento contiene lactosa y sacarosa. Si su médico le ha indicado que padece una intolerancia a ciertos azúcares, consulte con él antes de tomar este medicamento.

Puede producir caries.

Este medicamento contiene 0,081 mg de alcohol bencílico en cada sobre.

El alcohol bencílico puede provocar reacciones alérgicas. Consulte a su médico o farmacéutico si está embarazada o en periodo de lactancia o si tiene enfermedades de hígado o riñón. Esto es debido a que se pueden acumular grandes cantidades de alcohol bencílico en su organismo y provocar efectos adversos (acidosis metabólica).

Este medicamento contiene menos de 23 mg de sodio (1mmol) por sobre; esto es, esencialmente “exento de sodio”.

3. Cómo tomar Kilor

Siga exactamente las instrucciones de administración de este medicamento indicadas por su médico. En caso de duda, consulte de nuevo a su médico o farmacéutico.

Su médico le indicará la duración del tratamiento con Kilor. No suspenda el tratamiento antes, ya que existe riesgo de recaída de la enfermedad.

La dosis recomendada en adultos es 1 sobre diario después de la comida principal. Vierta el contenido del sobre en 200 ml de agua y agite hasta conseguir una disolución uniforme. La solución debe ingerirse inmediatamente.

En niños utilizar Kilor 40 mg granulado para solución oral.

Si estima que la acción de Kilor es demasiado fuerte o débil, comuníqueselo a su médico o farmacéutico.

Si toma más Kilor del que debe

Si usted ha tomado más Kilor del recomendado, consulte inmediatamente a su médico o farmacéutico o llame al Servicio de Información Toxicológica, teléfono 91 562 04 20.

Si olvidó tomar Kilor

En caso de que haya olvidado una dosis, tome otra tan pronto como sea posible y continúe con el horario habitual. No tome una dosis doble para compensar las dosis olvidadas.

Podrían observarse síntomas de irritación gastrointestinal con náuseas y vómitos.

Si interrumpe el tratamiento con Kilor

Su médico le indicará la duración del tratamiento con Kilor. No suspenda el tratamiento antes, aunque se encuentre mejor.

Si tiene cualquier otra duda sobre el uso de este medicamento, pregunte a su médico o farmacéutico.

4. Posibles efectos adversos

Al igual que todos los medicamentos, este medicamento puede producir efectos adversos, aunque no todas las personas lo sufran.

Ocasionalmente, han sido descritas molestias digestivas (dolor de estómago, náuseas, estreñimiento o diarrea), que suelen desaparecer al disminuir la dosis administrada o, en su caso, tras la suspensión del tratamiento. Deposiciones con pigmentación negra.

5. Conservación de Kilor

Mantener este medicamento fuera de la vista y del alcance de los niños.

Este medicamento no requiere condiciones especiales de conservación.

No utilice este medicamento después de la fecha de caducidad que aparece en el envase después de CAD. La fecha de caducidad es el último día del mes que se indica.

Los medicamentos no se deben tirar por los desagües ni a la basura. Deposite los envases y los medicamentos que no necesita en el Punto SIGRE Símbolo circular con una cruz negra en el centro y una flecha curvada que indica rotación en sentido horario de la farmacia. En caso de duda pregunte a su farmacéutico cómo deshacerse de los envases y de los medicamentos que no necesita. De esta forma, ayudará a proteger el medio ambiente.

6. Contenido del envase e información adicional

Composición de Kilor

  • El principio activo es ferrimanitol ovoalbúmina. Cada sobre contiene 600 mg (aprox.) de ferrimanitol ovoalbúmina (equivalente a 80 mg de Fe3+).
  • Los demás componentes son: esencia de plátano (contiene alcohol bencílico), etil vainillina, lactosa monohidrato, cloruro sódico y sacarosa.

Aspecto del producto y contenido del envase

Kilor se presenta en forma de sobres monodosis conteniendo un granulado de color marrón rojizo, olor a vainilla y sabor a plátano.

Cada envase contiene 15 o 30 sobres.

Puede que solamente estén comercializados algunos tamaños de envase.
