1. Qué es INTERMUCOL y para qué se utiliza

Pertenece al grupo de medicamentos denominados mucolíticos, que actúan disminuyendo la viscosidad del moco, fluidificándolo y facilitando su eliminación.

Está indicado para el alivio del exceso de mocos y flemas que aparecen en los procesos gripales, catarrales, o resfriado común.

Debe consultar a un médico si empeora o si no mejora después de 5 días.

2. Qué necesita saber antes de empezar a tomar INTERMUCOL

No tome INTERMUCOL

  • si es alérgico a la carbocisteína y sus derivados o a cualquiera de los demás componentes de este medicamento (incluidos en la sección 6)
  • si padece usted úlcera de estómago o duodeno
  • si padece asma o cualquier enfermedad respiratoria grave.
  • Este medicamento está contraindicado en niños menores de 2 años.

Advertencias y precauciones

Durante los primeros días de tratamiento, podrá observar un aumento de mocos y flemas, que irá disminuyendo a lo largo del tratamiento.

Uso de INTERMUCOL con otros medicamentos

Niños y adolescentes

Embarazo, lactancia y fertilidad:

No se recomienda tomar este medicamento a mujeres embarazadas.

IMPORTANTE PARA LA MUJER

Conducción y uso de máquinas

Debe utilizarse con precaución en aquellas personas cuya actividad requiera atención y que hayan observado mareos o vértigos durante el tratamiento con este medicamento.

INTERMUCOL contiene Rojo cochinilla A, parahidroxibenzoato de metilo y sodio.

Este medicamento puede producir reacciones alérgicas porque contiene Rojo cochinilla A (E-124). Puede provocar asma, especialmente en pacientes alérgicos al ácido acetilsalicílico.

Puede producir reacciones alérgicas (posiblemente retardadas) porque contiene parahidroxibenzoato de metilo (E-218).

3. Cómo tomar INTERMUCOL

Siga exactamente las instrucciones de administración del medicamento contenidas en este prospecto o las indicadas por su médico o farmacéutico. En caso de duda, pregunte a su médico o farmacéutico.

Este medicamento se toma vía oral.

Adultos y niños mayores de 12 años:La dosis recomendada es un sobre (750 mg de carbocisteína) vía oral, tres veces al día.

El contenido se toma directamente del sobre.

No debe tomar más de 3 sobres (2,25 g de carbocisteína) en 24 horas (1 día).

Se recomienda beber un vaso de agua después de cada toma y abundante líquido durante el día.

Si los síntomas empeoran o no mejoran al cabo de 5 días, o se produce: fiebre, erupciones en la piel, dolor de cabeza persistente o dolor de garganta, debe consultar a un médico.

Si toma más INTERMUCOL del que debe

Si usted ha tomado más de lo que debe, consulte a su médico, farmacéutico, o llame al Servicio de Información Toxicológica, teléfono 915 62 04 20, indicando el medicamento y la cantidad tomada.

No tome una dosis doble para compensar las dosis olvidadas.

4. Posibles efectos adversos

Al igual que todos los medicamentos, INTERMUCOL puede producir efectos adversos, aunque no todas las personas los sufran.

Efectos adversos frecuentes (pueden afectar hasta 1 de cada 10 personas):

Trastornos gastrointestinales como: náuseas, vómitos, diarrea, dolor abdominal o dispepsia (malestar gastrointestinal). En algunos casos puede ser útil reducir la dosis administrada.

Efectos adversos raros (pueden afectar hasta 1 de cada 1.000 personas):

Reacciones de hipersensibilidad (reacciones alérgicas), espasmo bronquial (asma), sangrado gastrointestinal, dolor de cabeza, vértigo, mareo, erupciones en la piel, prurito (picor).

Efectos adversos muy raros (pueden afectar hasta 1 de cada 10.000 personas):

Espasmo bronquial (asma), eritema (enrojecimiento de la piel) fijo medicamentoso.

En estos casos, se aconseja interrumpir el tratamiento tan pronto como sea posible.

5. Conservación de INTERMUCOL

Mantener este medicamento fuera de la vista y del alcance de los niños.

No conservar a temperatura superior a 30ºC.

No utilice este medicamento después de la fecha de caducidad que aparece en el envase después de CAD. La fecha de caducidad es el último día del mes que se indica.

Los medicamentos no se deben tirar por los desagües ni a la basura. Deposite los envases y los medicamentos que no necesita en el Punto SIGRE de la farmacia. En caso de duda pregunte a su farmacéutico cómo deshacerse de los envases y de los medicamentos que no necesita. De esta forma, ayudará a proteger el medio ambiente.

Composición de INTERMUCOL

  • El principio activo es carbocisteína. Cada sobre contiene 750 mg de carbocisteína.
  • Los demás componentes (excipientes) son: Sacarina sódica, parahidroxibenzoato de metilo (E-218), esencia de frambuesa, Rojo cochinilla A (E-124), carmelosa sódica, hidróxido de sodio, agua purificada, solución de hidróxido de sodio 1 N (para ajustar el pH).

La sacarina sódica, la carmelosa sódica, el hidróxido de sodio y la solución de hidróxido de sodio 1N, aportan 117 mg (5,09 mmol) de sodio por sobre.
