1. Qué es Herbion y para qué se utiliza

Herbion contiene extracto seco de hoja de hiedra.

Herbion es un medicamento a base de plantas usado como expectorante para la tos productiva en adultos, adolecentes y niños a partir de 6 años.

2. Qué necesita saber antes de empezar a tomar Herbion

No tomeHerbion

  • Si es alérgico a extracto de hoja de hiedra (Hedera helix L.), a algún componente de la familia de las araliáceas o a alguno de los ingredientes de este medicamento (enumerados en la sección 6).

No administrar el medicamento a niños menores de 2 años de edad, ya que existe el riesgo de que se agraven los síntomas respiratorios.

Advertencias y precauciones

Consulte a su médico o farmacéutico antes de empezar a tomar Herbion:

  • Si tiene dificultad para respirar, fiebre o secreciones purulentas (con pus), consulte a su médico o farmacéutico.
  • Si los síntomas empeoran o si no mejoran tras 7 días del uso del medicamento, consulte con su médico.
  • No se recomienda el uso simultáneo con otros antitusivos (como codeína o dextrometorfano) sin consultar con su médico.

Niños

No está recomendado el uso de Herbion pastillas para chupar en niños de 2 a 5 años de edad pues no es posible ajustar la dosis en la formulación pastillas para chupar. En este rango de edad está recomendada una formulación en jarabe.

En niños entre 2 a 4 años de edad con tos persistente o recurrente se requiere diagnóstico médico antes de iniciar el tratamiento.

3. Cómo tomar Herbion

Siga exactamente las instrucciones de administración indicadas por su médico o farmacéutico. En caso de duda consulte a su médico o farmacéutico.

La dosis habitual para adultos, pacientes de edad avanzada y adolescentes mayores de 12 años de edades de 1 pastilla para chupar, 3 veces al día.

Uso en niños

La dosis habitual para niños de 6 a 11 años de edades de 1 pastilla para chupar, 2 veces al día.

El uso de Herbion pastillas para chupar no está recomendado en niños menores de 6 años de edad.

Deshaga la pastilla en la boca. No tome las pastillas para chupar inmediatamente antes o durante las comidas.

Se recomienda beber mucha agua u otras bebidas calientes sin cafeína mientras toma Herbion.

Si los síntomas persisten más de 1 semana durante el uso de este medicamento, consulte al médico o al farmacéutico.

Si toma más Herbion del que debe

No tome más dosis que la recomendada. La toma de dosis mayores que la recomendada (más del doble de la dosis diaria) puede provocar náuseas, vómitos, diarrea y agitación. El tratamiento es sintomático.

Si ha olvidado tomar Herbion

No tome una dosis doble para compensar las dosis olvidadas.

4. Posibles efectos adversos

Al igual que todos los medicamentos, este medicamento puede producir efectos adversos, aunque no todas las personas los sufran.

5. Conservación de Herbion

Mantener este medicamento fuera de la vista y del alcance de los niños.

No utilice este medicamento después de la fecha de caducidad que aparece en el envase después de CAD. La fecha de caducidad es el último día del mes que se indica.

No conservar a temperatura superior a 25ºC.

Conservar en el embalaje original para protegerlo de la humedad.

Los medicamentos no se deben tirar por los desagües ni a la basura. Deposite los envases y los medicamentos que no necesita en el Punto SIGRE de la farmacia. En caso de duda, pregunte a su farmacéutico cómo deshacerse de los envases y de los medicamentos que ya no necesita. De esta forma ayudará a proteger el medio ambiente.

6. Contenido del envase e información adicional

Composición de Herbion

  • El principio activo es un extracto seco de hoja de hiedra. Cada pastilla para chupar contiene 35 mg de extracto (como extracto seco) de Hedera helix L., folium (hoja de hiedra) (5–7,5:1).

Disolvente de extracción con etanol 30% (m/m).

  • Los demás componentes son: isomaltosa (tipo M) (E953), ácido cítrico, saborizante natural a caramelo (propilenglicol (E1520)), cítricos de sabor natural (butilhidroxianisol (E320)), sucralosa (E955) y aceite de menta. Ver sección 2 “Herbion contiene isomaltosa (type M) (E953) y butilhidroxianisol (E320)”.
  • Excipiente utilizado en el extracto: simeticona.

Aspecto del producto y contenido del envase

Las pastillas son de color marrón claro a marrón, redondas, con bordes biselados y superficie rugosa. Puede haber partículas de color amarillo a marrón, áreas más claras, burbujas de aire y bordes ligeramente dentados. Diámetro de las pastillas: 18,0 mm – 19,0 mm, espesor: 7,0 mm – 8,0 mm.

El medicamento se presenta acondicionado en blíster (PVC/PE/PVDC-Al), en formatos de 8, 16 y 24 pastillas para chupar.

Puede que solamente se comercialicen algunos tamaños de envase.
