1. Qué es Gastropan y para qué se utiliza

Es un medicamento a base de plantas para el tratamiento de molestias gastrointestinales, tales como calambres leves, flatulencia, plenitud y dolor abdominal.

Gastropan está indicado en adultos y en adolescentes mayores de 12 años.

2. Qué necesita saber antes de empezar a tomar Gastropan

No tome Gastropan:

  • si es alérgico al aceite de menta, aceite de alcaravea, mentol a alguno de los demás componentes de este medicamento (incluidos en la sección 6).
  • en caso de enfermedades hepáticas, enfermedades inflamatorias de los conductos biliares (colangitis), aclorhidria (ausencia de ácido gástrico), cálculos biliares y cualquier otro trastorno biliar.
  • Niños menores de 8 años por razones de seguridad (ver 3. Uso en niños).

Advertencias y precauciones

Consulte a su médico o farmacéutico antes de empezar a tomar Gastropan.

Las cápsulas deben ser ingeridas enteras, es decir, sin romperlas ni masticarlas, ya que esto liberaría el aceite de menta prematuramente, causando posiblemente una irritación local de la boca y el esófago.

Los pacientes que ya sufren ardor de estómago o hernia de hiato a veces presentan una exacerbación de este síntoma después de tomar aceite de menta piperita. En este caso se debe suspender el tratamiento.

En caso de dolor abdominal de origen desconocido que persista más de dos semanas o que empeore, o se presente junto a síntomas como fiebre, ictericia, vómitos o sangre en las heces, se deberá consultar al médico de inmediato.

Niños

El uso en niños entre los 8 y 11 años no se ha establecido debido a la falta de información adecuada.

Otros medicamentos y Gastropan

Informe a su médico o farmacéutico si está tomando, ha tomado recientemente o pudiera tener que tomar cualquier otro medicamento.

No se han llevado a cabo estudios de interacción.

Los medicamentos utilizados para reducir el ácido estomacal, como los bloqueadores de histamina-2, los inhibidores de la bomba de protones o los antiácidos pueden causar una disolución prematura del recubrimiento entérico, lo que puede provocar eructación con olor típico y/o irritación gastrointestinal. Por lo tanto, se debe evitar el uso concomitante.

Si el uso concomitante es médicamente indispensable, Gastropan debe tomarse al menos 2 horas antes de los antiácidos u otros medicamentos utilizados para reducir el ácido estomacal.

Gastropan con alimentos y bebidas

Dado que el recubrimiento gastrorresistente podría disolverse prematuramente si se ingieren alimentos en forma simultánea, Gastropan debe tomarse como mínimo 30 minutos antes de las comidas.

Embarazo y lactancia

Embarazo

No hay datos, o éstos son limitados, en relación con el uso del aceite de menta piperita y del aceite de alcaravea en mujeres embarazadas. No se recomienda utilizar Gastropan durante el embarazo.

Lactancia

Los datos clínicos han demostrado que el 1,8 cineol, un componente del aceite de menta piperita, puede ser excretado en la leche materna humana. No se puede excluir el riesgo en recién nacidos/niños. No se recomienda utilizar Gastropan durante la lactancia.

Conducción y uso de máquinas

No se han llevado a cabo estudios sobre la capacidad para conducir y utilizar máquinas.

Gastropan contiene sorbitol y sodio

Gastropan contiene 12.1 mg de sorbitol en cada cápsula.

Este medicamento contiene menos de 1 mmol de sodio (23 mg) por cápsula, es decir, se considera esencialmente «libre de sodio».

3. Cómo tomar Gastropan

Siga exactamente las instrucciones de administración de este medicamento contenidas en este prospecto o las indicadas por su médico o farmacéutico. En caso de duda, consulte de nuevo a su médico o farmacéutico.

La dosis recomendada es:

Adolescentes a partir de 12 años, adultos y pacientes de edad avanzada:

1 cápsula gastrorresistente dos veces por día.

Pacientes con insuficiencia renal y/o hepática:

No hay datos disponibles para una instrucción de dosificación en caso de deterioro de la función renal/hepática.

Forma de administración

Uso oral.

Las cápsulas se toman enteras con abundante líquido (por ej., un vaso de agua) como mínimo 30 minutos antes de las comidas (preferiblemente por la mañana y al mediodía). Las cápsulas también pueden tomarse sin ingerir una comida posterior.

Las cápsulas deberán tragarse enteras; no deben ser masticadas, trituradas o rotas antes de ser tragadas, para que el principio activo no sea liberado prematuramente.

Duración de uso

Las cápsulas gastrorresistentes se deben tomar hasta que los síntomas desaparezcan, por lo general en un plazo de dos a cuatro semanas. Si los síntomas persisten o empeoran después de 2 semanas, debe buscar consejo médico. En los momentos en que los síntomas son más persistentes, la ingesta de cápsulas gastrorresistentes puede continuar durante períodos de hasta 3 meses por periodo de tratamiento.

Uso en niños

Si toma más Gastropan del que debe

5. Conservación de Gastropan

Mantener este medicamento fuera de la vista y del alcance de los niños.

No utilice este medicamento después de la fecha de caducidad que aparece en la caja y/o en el envase (blíster). La fecha de caducidad es el último día del mes que se indica.

No conservar a temperatura superior a 30 °C.

Los medicamentos no se deben tirar por los desagües ni a la basura.Deposite los envases

Composición de Gastropan

Cada cápsula blanda gastrorresistente contiene como principio activo:

90 mg de aceite esencial de Mentha x piperitaL., (aceite de menta piperita) y 50 mg aceite esencial de Carum carviL., (aceite de alcaravea).

Los demás componentes son:

Gelatina succinilada; glicerol 85%; polisorbato 80; propilenglicol; glicerol monostearato 40-55; copolímero de ácido metacrílico y acrilato de etilo (1:1) dispersión del 30%; triglicéridos de cadena media; dodecilsulfato de sodio; sorbitol líquido (no cristalizado).
