1. Qué es Furaseptic10 mg/ml y para qué se utiliza

Furaseptic contiene como principio activo clorhexidina. La clorhexidina es un antiséptico que se administra sobre la piel.

Está indicado como antiséptico de heridas y quemaduras leves de la piel, y como antiséptico del

ombligo en recién nacidos.

Debe consultar a un médico si empeora o no mejora después de 5 días.

2. Qué necesita saber antes de empezar a usar Furaseptic 10 mg/ml solución cutánea

No useFuraseptic

  • Si es alérgico a clorhexidina o a cualquiera de los demás componentes de

este medicamento (incluidos en la sección 6).

  • No utilizar en ojos ni oídos, ni en el interior de la boca u otras mucosas.

Advertencias y precauciones

Consulte a su medico o farmaceutico antes de empezar a usar este medicamento.

  • Este medicamento es exclusivamente de uso externo sobre la piel. NO INGERIR.
  • Evite el contacto con el cerebro, las meninges (las membranas que rodean el cerebro y la médula espinal) y el oído medio.
  • Furaseptic no debe entrar en contacto con los ojos debido al riesgo de lesiones visuales. Si entra en contacto con los ojos, lávese inmediata y abundantemente con agua. En caso de irritación, enrojecimiento o dolor en los ojos, o alteraciones visuales, consulte a un médico inmediatamente.

Se han notificado casos graves de lesión persistente de la córnea (lesión de la superficie del ojo) que podría llegar a requerir un trasplante de córnea cuando productos similares han entrado accidentalmente en contacto con los ojos durante intervenciones quirúrgicas, en pacientes con anestesia general (sueño profundo inducido indoloro).

  • No debe utilizarse en caso de heridas profundas y extensas sin consultar al médico.
  • No debe aplicarse repetidamente, ni utilizarse sobre grandes superficies, con vendaje

oclusivo (no transpirable), sobre la piel lesionada y en mucosas.

  • No debe utilizarse para la asepsia de zonas de punción o inyección, ni para la

desinfección de material quirúrgico.

  • Se debe retirar cualquier material empapado, gasas o pijamas antes de comenzar con la intervención.

-No usar grandes cantidades y evitar que la solución se acumule en los pliegues de la piel, bajo el paciente o que empape las sábanas u otro material húmedo en contacto directo con el paciente.

-Cuando se aplique vendaje oclusivo a las zonas previamente expuestas a este medicamento, se debe tener especial cuidado de que no haya exceso de producto antes de colocar el vendaje.

Niños y adolescentes

  • Consultar con el médico antes de utilizar en niños menores de 30 meses.
  • Se debe utilizar con precaución en neonatos, especialmente en niños prematuros nacidos antes de la semana 32 de gestación y durante las 2 primeras semanas de vida. Este medicamento puede causar quemaduras químicas en la piel.

Uso deFurasepticcon otros medicamentos

  • Informe a su médico o farmacéutico si está utilizando, ha utilizado recientemente o podría

tener que utilizar cualquier otro medicamento.

  • Debe evitarse el uso de varios antisépticos a la vez o de forma sucesiva, salvo con otros

compuestos catiónicos (por ejemplo cloruro de benzalconio).

  • No debe usarse en combinación ni después de la aplicación de jabones aniónicos

(jabones), ácidos, sales de metales pesados y yodo, por lo que debe aclararse bien la piel

después de limpiarla.

Embarazo, lactancia y fertilidad

Si esta embarazada o en periodo de lactancia, cree que podria estar embarazada o tiene intención

de quedarse embarazada, consulte a su médico o farmacéutico antes de utilizar este

medicamento.

No hay datos o éstos son limitados en relación al uso de clorhexidina en mujeres embarazadas.

Se desconoce si clorhexidina se excreta en la leche materna, por lo que deberá tenerse en cuenta el posible riesgo de efectos sistémicos.

3. Cómo usar Furaseptic10 mg/ml

Uso cutáneo. NO INGERIR

Siga exactamente las instrucciones de administración del medicamento contenidas en este

prospecto o las indicadas por su médico o farmacéutico. En caso de duda pregunte a su médico

o farmacéutico.

Administrar sin diluir. Se recomienda limpiar y secar la herida antes de aplicar Furaseptic. Aplicar directamente sobre la zona afectada, o bien sobre una gasa, una o dos veces al día. Dejar actuar y secar.

No realizar más de dos aplicaciones diarias del producto.

En caso de sobredosis o ingestión accidental, consulte inmediatamente a su médico o

farmacéutico o llame al Servicio de Información Toxicológica, teléfono: 91 562 04 20,

indicando el medicamento y la cantidad ingerida.

Información para el profesional sanitario

En caso de ingestión accidental proceder al lavado gástrico y protección de la mucosa digestiva. Se han descrito casos de hemólisis tras la ingestión de clorhexidina.

En caso de hemólisis puede ser necesaria transfusión sanguínea.

4. Posibles efectos adversos

Al igual que todos los medicamentos, este medicamento puede producir efectos adversos,

aunque no todas las personas los sufran.

  • Trastornos alérgicos de la piel como dermatitis (inflamación de la piel), prurito (picor), eritema (enrojecimiento de la piel), eccema, erupción, urticaria (habones), irritación de la piel y ampollas y quemaduras químicas en neonatos.
  • Lesión corneal (lesión en la superficie del ojo) y lesión ocular permanente, incluido deterioro visual permanente (tras la exposición ocular accidental durante las intervenciones quirúrgicas en la cabeza, la cara y el cuello) en pacientes bajo anestesia general (sueño profundo inducido indoloro).

5. Conservación de Furaseptic10 mg/ml

Mantener este medicamento fuera de la vista y del alcance de los niños.

Conservar por debajo de 30ºC.

Conservar en el embalaje original para protegerlo de la luz.

No utilice este medicamento después de la fecha de caducidad que aparece en el envase después

de CAD. La fecha de caducidad es el último día del mes que se indica.

Los medicamentos no se deben tirar por los desagües ni a la basura. Deposite los envases y los

medicamentos que no necesita en Punto SIGRE de la farmacia. En caso de duda pregunte a su

farmacéutico cómo deshacerse de los envases y de los medicamentos que no necesita. De esta

forma, ayudará a proteger el medio ambiente.

6. Contenido del envase e información adicional

Composición deFuraseptic10 mg/ml

  • El principio activo es digluconato de clorhexidina. Cada ml de contiene 10 mg de digluconato de clorhexidina.
  • Los demás componentes (excipientes) son: agua purificada.

Aspecto del producto y contenido del envase

Solución transparente que se presenta en frasco de plástico blanco de 30 ml con cuentagotas o bien en frasco de plástico blanco de 30 ml con pulverizador.

Información adicional

Las ropas que hayan estado en contacto con este medicamento, no deben lavarse con lejía

ni otros hipocloritos pues se produciría una coloración parduzca en los tejidos, sino con

detergentes domésticos a base de perborato sódico.
