1. Qué es DulcoLax Picosulfato y para qué se utiliza

El principio activo de este medicamento, picosulfato de sodio, pertenece a un grupo de medicamentos denominados laxantes estimulantes.

Se utiliza para el alivio sintomático del estreñimiento ocasional en adultos y niños mayores de 6 años.

Si los síntomas empeoran, si no se produce ninguna deposición después de 12 horas tras la administración máxima diaria, o si los síntomas persisten después de 6 días de tratamiento, debe consultar con su médico.

2. Qué necesita saber antes de empezar a tomar DulcoLax Picosulfato

Se recomienda beber diariamente de 6 a 8 vasos de líquido cuando se use cualquier tipo de laxantes para ayudar así a ablandar las heces.

No tomeDulcoLax Picosulfato

  • Si es alérgico al picosulfato de sodio o a cualquiera de los demás componentes de este medicamento (incluidos en la sección 6).
  • Si presenta síntomas tales como náuseas, vómitos, dolor abdominal intenso y/o fiebre, que puedan indicar la presencia de apendicitis u otros problemas abdominales.
  • Si sufre de alguna enfermedad inflamatoria aguda intestinal, oclusión intestinal (íleo), perforación gastrointestinal, dolor abdominal intenso o no diagnosticado, deshidratación grave, o si observa sangre en heces.
  • Si observa cambios repentinos en los hábitos intestinales (frecuencia y consistencia de las heces) que persisten más de 2 semanas.

Advertencias y precauciones

Consulte a su médico o farmacéutico antes de empezar a tomar DulcoLax Picosulfato.

  • Como todos los laxantes, DulcoLax Picosulfato no debe tomarse de forma continuada a diario o durante períodos prolongados sin investigar la causa del estreñimiento. Su uso excesivo prolongado puede producir pérdida de agua y electrolitos (diarreas).
  • No utilice este medicamento para intentar perder peso. Este producto no reduce la resorción calórica del intestino y puede provocar efectos adversos graves. Este producto, al igual que otros laxantes estimulantes, no le ayuda a perder peso.
  • Cuando se administra a personas de edad avanzada durante períodos prolongados, puede empeorar estados de cansancio y/o debilidad o producir una disminución de la tensión arterial y falta de coordinación de movimientos.
  • Se han descrito casos de mareo y/o síncope en pacientes que han utilizado Picosulfato de sodio. En base a la información disponible podrían deberse a un síncope por los esfuerzos durante la defecación o a una respuesta refleja al dolor abdominal relacionado con el estreñimiento y no necesariamente con el uso de Picosulfato de sodio.

Niños

En niños menores de 6 años, administrar únicamente bajo criterio médico.

Otros medicamentos y DulcoLax Picosulfato

Informe a su médico o farmacéutico si está utilizando, ha utilizado recientemente o pudiera tener que utilizar cualquier otro medicamento.

El uso simultáneo de diuréticos (medicamentos utilizados para aumentar la eliminación de orina) o adreno-corticoides puede aumentar el riesgo de desequilibrio de los electrolitos si se toman dosis excesivas de DulcoLax Picosulfato. Un desequilibrio de los electrolitos puede dar lugar a una sensibilidad aumentada de los glucósidos cardíacos (medicamentos utilizados para el corazón).

La administración simultánea de antibióticos puede reducir la acción laxante de DulcoLax Picosulfato.

Embarazo, lactancia y fertilidad

Conducción y uso de máquinas

Durante el tratamiento con este medicamento se pueden producir mareos y/o síncope debido a una respuesta vasovagal (p. ej. a espasmos abdominales). Si tiene espasmos abdominales debe evitar tareas potencialmente peligrosas como conducir o manejar máquinas.

DulcoLax Picosulfato contiene sorbitol (E-420), benzoato de sodio (E-211) y sodio

Este medicamento contiene 450 mg de sorbitol en cada ml.

El sorbitol es una fuente de fructosa. Si su médico le ha indicado que usted (o su hijo) padecen una intolerancia a ciertos azúcares, o se les ha diagnosticado intolerancia hereditaria a la fructosa (IHF), una enfermedad genética rara, en la que el paciente no puede descomponer la fructosa, consulte usted (o su hijo) con su médico antes de tomar este medicamento.

El sorbitol puede provocar malestar gastrointestinal y un ligero efecto laxante.

Este medicamento contiene 2 mg de benzoato de sodio por ml. El benzoato de sodio puede producir ictericia (coloración amarillenta de la piel y los ojos) en recién nacidos (hasta 4 semanas de edad).

Este medicamento contiene menos de 1 mmol de sodio (23 mg) por ml; esto es, esencialmente "exento de sodio".

3. Cómo tomar DulcoLax Picosulfato

Siga exactamente las instrucciones de administración del medicamento contenidas en este prospecto o las indicadas por su médico o farmacéutico. En caso de duda pregunte a su médico o farmacéutico.

La dosis recomendada es:

Adultos y adolescentes mayores de 12 años:

De 8 a 12 gotas por día (4 a 6 mg de picosulfato de sodio), en una sola toma.

Esto significa un máximo diario de 12 gotas (6 mg de picosulfato de sodio).

Uso en niños y adolescentes

Niños y adolescentes de 6 a 12 años:

De 2 a 8 gotas por día (1 a 4 mg de picosulfato de sodio), en una sola toma.

Esto significa un máximo diario de 8 gotas (4 mg de picosulfato de sodio).

Se recomienda empezar con la dosis más baja. La dosis se puede ajustar hasta la dosis máxima recomendada capaz de producir deposiciones regulares.

No debe exceder la dosis máxima diaria recomendada.

Forma de administración

Debe administrarse por vía oral.

Las gotas pueden tomarse solas o disueltas en cualquier tipo de bebida (agua, leche, zumo de frutas, etc.) o alimento (purés, papillas, etc.).

DulcoLax Picosulfato debe administrarse por la noche, para producir la evacuación a la mañana siguiente. Debe administrarse en una sola toma al día.

No debe utilizarse más de 6 días seguidos sin consultar al médico.

Si estima que la acción de DulcoLax picosulfato es demasiado fuerte o débil, comuníqueselo a su médico o farmacéutico.

Si toma más DulcoLax Picosulfato del que debe

Podrían aparecer espasmos gastrointestinales, deposiciones mucosas y diarreicas, pérdidas de líquido, potasio y otros electrolitos.

A dosis mucho más elevadas que las recomendadas, se han descrito casos de isquemia (disminución del riego sanguíneo) en la mucosa del colon.

Como todos los laxantes, el uso continuado de altas dosis de laxantes puede producir diarrea crónica, dolores abdominales, disminución de potasio en sangre, hiperaldosteronismo (producción excesiva de la hormona aldosterona por la glándula suprarrenal) secundario y cálculos renales (piedras en el riñón). Se han descrito también lesiones en el túbulo renal, alcalosis metabólica (aumento de la cantidad de bicarbonato en sangre) y debilidad muscular debida a la disminución del potasio sanguíneo.

Si ha tomado más DulcoLax picosulfato de lo que debe, acuda inmediatamente a un centro médico o llame al Servicio de Información Toxicológica 91 562 04 20, indicando el medicamento y la cantidad ingerida.

Si olvidó tomar DulcoLax Picosulfato

No tome una dosis doble para compensar las dosis olvidadas.

4. Posibles efectos adversos

5. Conservación de DulcoLax Picosulfato

Mantener este medicamento fuera de la vista y del alcance de los niños.

No conservar a temperatura superior a 30ºC.

No utilice este medicamento después de la fecha de caducidad que aparece en el envase después de CAD. La fecha de caducidad es el último día del mes que se indica.

No utilizar después de 6 meses de abrir el envase por primera vez.

Los medicamentos no se deben tirar por los desagües ni a la basura. Deposite los envases y los medicamentos que no necesite en el Punto SIGRE de la farmacia. En caso de duda pregunte a su farmacéutico cómo deshacerse de los envases y de los medicamentos que no necesita. De esta forma, ayudará a proteger el medio ambiente.

6. Contenido del envase e información adicional

Composición de DulcoLax Picosulfato

  • El principio activo es picosulfato de sodio. Cada ml (15 gotas) contiene 7,5 mg de picosulfato de sodio.
  • Los demás componentes (excipientes) son: benzoato de sodio (E-211), sorbitol líquido (E-420), citrato de sodio dihidrato, ácido cítrico monohidrato y agua.
