1. Qué es Copinal suspensión y para qué se utiliza

Copinal suspensión contiene como principio activo una sal de zinc, el acexamato de zinc, que pertenece a un grupo de compuestos denominados antiulcerosos. El acexamato de zinc actúa reduciendo la cantidad de ácido producida por el estómago y potencia los mecanismos que protegen la mucosa del estómago.

Copinal suspensión se utiliza:

  • en la prevención de las lesiones gastrointestinales inducidas por medicamentos antiinflamatorios no esteroideos (AINE).
  • en el tratamiento de la úlcera gástrica y de la úlcera duodenal.

2. Qué necesita saber antes de empezar a tomar Copinal suspensión

No tome Copinal suspensión

  • si es alérgico al acexamato de zinc o a cualquiera de los demás componentes de este medicamento. (incluidos en la sección 6).
  • si padece insuficiencia renal grave (enfermedad grave de los riñones).

Advertencias y precauciones

Consulte a su médico o farmacéutico antes de empezar a tomar Copinal suspensión.

Si ha tomado zinc durante un período largo de tiempo, en ese caso, su médico deberá controlar los niveles de cobre y de zinc, debido a que podrían alterarse sus niveles en sangre.

A fin de realizar un seguimiento de su tratamiento, su médico le realizará análisis de sangre y de orina periódicamente.

Debe informar a su médico si siente debilidad muscular o una sensación anormal en las extremidades ya que puede indicar un exceso de cobre.

Toma de Copinal suspensión con otros medicamentos

Comunique a su médico o farmacéutico que está tomando, ha tomado recientemente o podría tener que tomar cualquier otro medicamento.

Tenga especial cuidado si está tomando antibióticos del tipo de las tetraciclinas, ya que el zinc puede conducir a un menor efecto o una falta de acción frente a la infección producida por las bacterias. Se recomienda dejar un intervalo de 4 horas como mínimo entre la toma de uno y otro fármaco.

Embarazo, lactancia y fertilidad

Si está embarazada o en periodo de lactancia, cree que podría estar embarazada o tiene intención de quedarse embarazada, consulte a su médico o farmacéutico antes de utilizar este medicamento.

3. Cómo tomar Copinal

Siga exactamente las instrucciones de administración de este medicamento indicadas por su médico. En caso de duda, consulte de nuevo a su médico.

Recuerde tomar su medicamento.

Su médico le indicará la duración de su tratamiento con Copinal suspensión.

Copinal suspensión se toma durante o inmediatamente después de las comidas principales. Presionar el sobre con los dedos en varias direcciones antes de abrirlo para homogeneizar la suspensión y verter ésta en un poco de agua. Antes de su ingestión agitar ligeramente con una cucharilla. El contenido también puede ingerirse directamente, sin necesidad de mezclarlo.

En la prevención de las lesiones gastrointestinales inducidas por medicamentos AINE: la dosis recomendada es un sobre (300 mg de acexamato de zinc) al día, durante o inmediatamente después de la cena.

En el tratamiento de la úlcera gástrica y de la úlcera duodenal: la dosis recomendada es un sobre (300 mg de acexamato de zinc), hasta 3 veces al día durante o inmediatamente después de las comidas.

Si toma más Copinal suspensión del que debiera

Si usted ha tomado más Copinal suspensión del que debe o en caso de ingestión accidental, consulte inmediatamente a su médico o a su farmacéutico o llame al Servicio de Información Toxicológica, teléfono 91 562 04 20, indicando el medicamento y la cantidad ingerida.

Con la ingesta conjunta de varios sobres puede presentarse vómito, lo que contribuye a su autoeliminación, que puede favorecerse con la aplicación de lavado gástrico.

Si olvidó tomar Copinal suspensión

No tome una dosis doble para compensar las dosis olvidadas. Continúe adelante el tratamiento con la posología recomendada.

4. Posibles efectos adversos

Al igual que todos los medicamentos, Copinal suspensión puede producir efectos adversos, aunque no todas las personas los sufran.

En algunos casos, en ayunas, pueden aparecer náuseas (sensación de mareo) y sensación pasajera de molestias en el estómago. Para evitarlas deberá tomar Copinal suspensión siempre durante o inmediatamente después de las comidas.

La toma de Copinal suspensión puede dar lugar a una disminución de los niveles de cobre, y pueden presentarse efectos secundarios:

  • Disminución de glóbulos rojos, glóbulos blancos y síndrome mielodisplásico.
  • Neuropatías periféricas y mielopatías.

Si experimenta efectos adversos, consulte a su médico o farmacéutico, incluso si se trata de efectos adversos que no aparecen en este prospecto.

5. Conservación de Copinal suspensión

No requiere condiciones especiales de conservación.

Mantener este medicamento fuera de la vista y del alcance de los niños.

No utilice este medicamento después de la fecha de caducidad que aparece en la caja y en el sobre después de CAD. La fecha de caducidad es el último día del mes que se indica.

No utilice este medicamento si observa cambios en el aspecto de la suspensión.

Los medicamentos no se deben tirar por los desagües ni a la basura. Deposite los envases y los medicamentos que no necesita en el Punto SIGRE de la farmacia. En caso de duda pregunte a su farmacéutico cómo deshacerse de los envases y de los medicamentos que no necesita. De esta forma, ayudará a proteger el medio ambiente.

Composición de Copinal suspensión

  • El principio activo es acexamato de zinc. Cada sobre de 10 g contiene 300 mg de acexamato de zinc.
  • Los demás componentes (excipientes) son: parafina líquida ligera, monoestearato de glicerina autoemulsionable, sorbitol líquido no cristalizable, sacarosa, óxido de magnesio ligero, benzoato de sodio, sacarina sódica, polisorbato 60, aceite esencial de menta piperita, polisorbato 20, parahidroxibenzoato de metilo, sal de sodio (E-219), parahidroxibenzoato de propilo, sal de sodio (E-217) y agua purificada.
