1. Qué es Carnicor 200 mg/ml solución inyectable y para qué se utiliza

Carnicor solución inyectable contiene como sustancia activa un tipo de proteína denominado L-Carnitina.

Carnicor solución inyectable está indicado en adultos y niños en las siguientes situaciones:

  • Tratamiento de deficiencias primarias y secundarias de L-Carnitina
  • Tratamiento de un tipo de encefalopatía (caracterizada por niveles elevados de amonio en sangre) y/o de toxicidad en el hígado, debidos al tratamiento con ácido valproico.
  • Tratamiento preventivo en pacientes que están siendo tratados con ácido valproico y presentan riesgo alto de desarrollar toxicidad en el hígado.
  • Tratamiento de deficiencias secundarias de L-carnitina en pacientes sometidos a tratamientos de hemodiálisis a largo plazo.

2. Qué necesita saber antes de empezar a usar Carnicor 200 mg/ml solución inyectable

No tome Carnicor

  • Si es alérgico al principio activo o a cualquiera de los demás componentes de este medicamento (incluidos en la sección 6)

Advertencias y precauciones

Consulte con su médico antes de empezar a usar Carnicor si:

  • Tiene problemas renales o si está siendo sometido a diálisis
  • Es diabético y está siendo tratado con insulina o con hipoglucemiantes orales (medicamentos que se usan para tratar la diabetes), porque Carnicor podría ocasionar una mayor reducción de los niveles de azúcar en sangre. En estos casos, el médico le pedirá que realice controles frecuentes de sus niveles de azúcar en la sangre.
  • Está tomando medicamentos que reducen la coagulación de la sangre (anticoagulantes) (Ver sección 2 “Uso de Carnicor con otros medicamentos” y sección 4 “Posibles efectos adversos”).
  • Si tiene precedentes de ataques convulsivos.

La administración de la solución por vía intravenosa debe realizarse lentamente.

Otros medicamentos y Carnicor

Informe a su médico o farmacéutico si está utilizando, ha utilizado recientemente o pudiera tener que utilizar cualquier otro medicamento.

Informe a su médico si está tomando fármacos cumarínicos (medicamentos anticoagulantes). Su médico deberá realizarle las pruebas necesarias para controlar su coagulación. (Ver sección 2 “Advertencias y precauciones” y sección 4 “Posibles efectos adversos”).

Informe a su médico si está tomando medicamentos que contengan ácido valpróico, profármacos del ácido piválico, cefalosporinas, cisplatino, carboplatina e ifosamida, ya que podrían reducir la disonibilidad de L-carnitina.

Embarazo, lactancia y fertilidad

Si está embarazada o en período de lactancia, cree que podría estar embarazada o tiene intención de quedarse embarazada, consulte a su médico o farmacéutico antes de utilizar este medicamento.

Si está embarazada o en período de lactancia, no debe usar Carnicor, salvo que su médico se lo indique.

Conducción y uso de máquinas

El uso de Carnicor solución inyectable no afecta a su capacidad para conducir o utilizar máquinas.

3. Cómo Tomar Carnicor 200 mg/ml solución inyectable

Carnicor solución inyectable se administra por vía intravenosa.

Siga exactamente las instrucciones de administración de este medicamento indicadas por su médico o farmacéutico. Si tiene dudas, consulte de nuevo a su médico o farmacéutico.

La dosis recomendada es:

Déficit primario y secundario de L-Carnitina:Su médico decidirá la dosis más adecuada en función de su situación. La dosis más habitual es de 100 mg/kg/día repartidos en 3-4 dosis (cada 6-8 horas). El médico podrá decidir aumentar esta dosis hasta un máximo de 300 mg/kg/día.

Encefalopatia o toxicidad hepática debidas a toxicidad producida por el uso de ácido valproico:la dosis debe ser ajustada en cada caso por su médico. No obstante, la dosis recomendada es de hasta 100 mg/kg/día repartidos en 3-4 dosis (cada 6-8 horas)

Tratramiento para la prevención de hepatotoxicidad en pacientes que toman ácido valproico:se recomienda una dosis de 50-100 mg/kg/día repartido en 3-4 dosis.

Déficit secundario de L-carnitina durante el tratamiento de hemodiálisis:La dosis recomendada es de 10-20 mg/kg al finalizar cada sesión de diálisis. El médico evaluará la situación cada 3 meses a fin de ajustar la dosis.

Carnicor inyectable se administrará por vía intravenosa lenta durante un periodo de 2-3 minutos.

Si usa más Carnicor solución inyectable del que debe

En caso de sobredosis o ingestión accidental, consulte inmediatamente a su médico o farmacéutico o llame al Servicio de Información Toxicológica, teléfono 91 562 04 20, indicando el medicamento y la cantidad administrada.

Si olvidó usar Carnicor solución inyectable

No use una dosis doble para compensar las dosis olvidadas. Tome la siguiente dosis de la forma habitual.

Si interrumpe el tratamiento con Carnicor solución inyectable

No interrumpa el tratamiento con este medicamento sin consultar previamente a su médico.

4. Posibles efectos adversos

5. Conservación de Carnicor 100 mg/ml solución oral

Mantener este medicamento fuera de la vista y del alcance de los niños.

No requiere condiciones especiales de conservación.

Caducidad

No utilice Carnicor después de la fecha de caducidad que aparece en el envase, después de CAD. La fecha de caducidad es el último día del mes que se indica.

Los medicamentos no se deben tirar por los desagües ni a la basura. Deposite los envases y los medicamentos que no necesita en el Punto SIGRE de la farmacia. En caso de duda pregunte a su farmacéutico cómo deshacerse de los envases y de los medicamentos que no necesita. De esta forma ayudará a proteger el medio ambiente.

Enoxolona, 3 mg
