1. Qué es Carbaglu y para qué se utiliza

Carbaglu puede ayudar a eliminar niveles plasmáticos de amoníaco excesivos (nivel elevado de amoníaco en sangre). El amoníaco es especialmente tóxico para el cerebro y produce, en casos graves, disminución del nivel de conocimiento y coma.

La hiperamoniemia puede deberse a

  • la falta de una enzima hepática específica, la N-acetilglutamato sintasa. Los pacientes con este raro trastorno no son capaces de eliminar los desechos nitrogenados, que aumentan después de comer proteínas.

Este trastorno persiste toda la vida del paciente afectado, por lo que este tratamiento es necesario de por vida.

2. Qué necesita saber antes de empezar a tomar Carbaglu

Notome Carbaglu:

No tome Carbaglu si es alérgico (hipersensible) al ácido carglúmico o a cualquiera de los demás componentes de Carbaglu (incluidos en la sección 6).

No tome Carbaglu durante la lactancia.

Uso de Carbaglu con los alimentos y bebidas

3. Cómo tomar Carbaglu

La dosis habitual:

La dosis diaria inicial suele ser de 100 mg por kg de peso corporal, hasta un máximo de 250 mg por kg de peso corporal (por ejemplo, si pesa 10 kg, debe tomar 1 g al día, ó 5 comprimidos). Para pacientes que padecen deficiencia de la N-acetilglutamato sintasa, a largo plazo, la dosis diaria habitualmente oscila entre 10 mg y 100 mg por kg de peso corporal.

Su médico determinará la dosis idónea para usted para mantener niveles normales de amoníaco en su sangre.

Carbaglu se debe administrar ÚNICAMENTE por vía oral o a través de una sonda nasogástrica (usando una jeringa, si es necesario).

Cuando el paciente está en coma hiperamonémico, Carbaglu se administra mediante impulso rápido con una jeringa a través de la sonda que se utiliza para alimentarle.

5. Conservación de Carbaglu

Mantener este medicamento fuera de la vista y del alcance de los niños.

No utilice este medicamento después de la fecha de caducidad que aparece en el envase de comprimidos después de CAD.

La fecha de caducidad es el último día del mes que se indica.

Conservar en nevera (entre 2ºC y 8ºC)

Tras abrir el envase de comprimidos por primera vez: no refrigerar. No conservar a temperatura superior a 30° C.

Mantener el envase perfectamente cerrado para protegerlo de la humedad.

Escriba la fecha de apertura en el envase de comprimidos. Deséchelo 3 meses después de la primera apertura.

Los medicamentos no se deben tirar por los desagües ni a la basura. Pregunte a su farmacéutico cómo deshacerse de los medicamentos que ya no necesita. De esta forma, ayudará a proteger el medio ambiente.
