1. Qué es Beromun y para qué se utiliza

Beromun contiene el principio activo tasonermina (factor de necrosis tumoral alfa-1a), producido por tecnología de ADN recombinante. Pertenece a un grupo de medicamentos conocidos como inmunoestimuladores, que ayudan al sistema inmune a combatir las células cancerígenas.

Beromun se utiliza, junto con medicamentos que contienen melfalán, para el tratamiento de sarcomas de tejidos blandos de brazos y piernas. 2. Qué necesita saber antes de empezar a usar Beromun

No use Beromun

  • si es alérgico a tasonermina o a alguno de los demás componentes de este medicamento (incluidos en la sección 6).
  • si tiene problemas importantes de corazón
  • si tiene un trastorno pulmonar grave
  • si tiene o ha tenido recientemente una úlcera en el estómago
  • si tiene un recuento de células de la sangre demasiado bajo o problemas de sangrado
  • si tiene una enfermedad hepática o renal moderada o grave

Advertencias y precauciones

Beromun le será administrado por un médico experto y especializado en la técnica de perfusión de extremidad aislada (PEA). Esta técnica asegura que Beromun queda limitado al brazo o pierna afectado. Es importante que no llegue a otras partes de su cuerpo, porque la llamada fuga sistémicapuede causar efectos adversos graves en los principales órganos del cuerpo.

Durante la técnica PEA y el periodo de siete a diez días después en que deberá estar en el hospital, su médico vigilará cuidadosamente su tensión arterial, circulación y cualquier efecto adverso. Beromun contiene sodio

El medicamento reconstituido contiene hasta 151,27 mg (6,58 mmol) de sodio por dosis recomendada. Se debe tener en cuenta en pacientes con dietas pobres en sodio.

El envase de este medicamento contiene goma de látex. Puede provocar reacciones alérgicas graves.

3. Cómo usar Beromun

Beromun será administrado mediante la técnica de perfusión de extremidad aislada (PEA), junto con el medicamento antitumoral melfalán. Esto sucederá mientras usted está inconsciente, bajo la influencia de un anestésico general.

El caudal de sangre que entra y sale de su extremidad afectada se interrumpirá utilizando un torniquete. La sangre, abastecida de oxígeno mediante una máquina cardio-pulmonar, se bombea a la extremidad afectada mediante un catéter introducido en la arteria principal mientras se drena (se bombea hacia fuera) de la vena principal. Beromun y después melfalán se inyectan en este circuito y de esta forma la extremidad afectada quedará expuesta a Beromun durante un total de 90 minutos.

La dosis recomendada de Beromun depende de la extremidad afectada y habitualmente es de 3 mg para el brazo y de 4 mg para la pierna. El polvo de Beromun debe disolverse antes de ser utilizado. La solución resultante se administrará en una arteria de su brazo o pierna afectado, mediante la técnica de la perfusión de extremidad aislada (PEA) durante un periodo inicial de 30 minutos.

Después se añadirá melfalán y la técnica PEA continuará durante otros 60 minutos.

Finalmente se lavará su extremidad para eliminar los restos de Beromun y melfalán.

La técnica PEA permite que las células tumorales de su extremidad puedan quedar expuestas a una dosis muy elevada de Beromun y melfalán, potenciando su efecto antitumoral pero sin alcanzar el resto de su cuerpo, donde podría causar efectos adversos graves.

Por lo general no recibirá una segunda PEA con Beromun. Si sucede, no tendría lugar hasta un mínimo de seis semanas después de la primera PEA.

Si usa más Beromundel que debe

Debido a que Beromun siempre es administrado por médicos de hospital expertos y cualificados, una sobredosis accidental es extremadamente improbable. No obstante, en caso de que sucediera, su médico lavará inmediatamente la extremidad afectada para eliminar Beromun e interrumpirá la técnica PEA. 4. Posibles efectos adversos

5. Conservación de Beromun

Mantener este medicamento fuera de la vista y del alcance de los niños.

No utilice este medicamento después de la fecha de caducidad que aparece en el envase y en la etiqueta del vial después de CAD. La fecha de caducidad es el último día del mes que se indica.

Conservar en nevera (entre 2ºC y 8ºC). Una vez reconstituido el producto debe usarse inmediatamente.

6. Contenido del envase e información adicional

Composición de Beromun

  • El principio activo es tasonermina. Cada vial contiene 1 mg de tasonermina. El contenido de un vial de Beromun polvo debe reconstituirse con 5,3 ml de solución inyectable estéril de cloruro de sodio al 0,9%.
  • Los demás componentes (excipientes) son dihidrógeno fosfato de sodio dihidrato, fosfato de disodio dodecahidrato y albúmina sérica humana.

Beromun es un polvo de color blanco a casi blanco para solución para perfusión (polvo para perfusión), proporcionado en un vial de vidrio con tapón de goma y precintado con una cápsula de aluminio flip-off.
