1. What Sueroral Hiposódico is and what it is used for

Sueroral Hiposódico belongs to a group of medicines called oral rehydration formulas.

Sueroral Hiposódico is indicated for the prevention and treatment of dehydration caused by vomiting or diarrhea, whether of infectious or non-infectious origin, infantile and summer diarrhea, acidosis, and ketosis.

2. Before taking Sueroral Hiposódico

Do not take Sueroral Hiposódico

  • In premature babies and children under 1 month.

Be careful with Sueroral Hiposódico

  • If you normally consume cow's milk, you should not take more than 150 ml every four hours, and if the diarrhea worsens, you should stop consuming it.
  • You can eat food normally when the diarrhea is corrected.

Use of other medicines

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Important information about some of the components of Sueroral Hiposódico

This medicine contains glucose. If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to certain sugars, consult with them before taking this medicine.

Patients with diabetes mellitus should note that this medicine contains 20 g of glucose per sachet.

Patients on low-sodium diets should note that this medicine contains 1.15 g (50.11 mmol) of sodium per sachet.

This medicine may cause allergic reactions because it contains Yellow Orange S (E-110) as an excipient.

It can cause asthma, especially in patients allergic to acetylsalicylic acid.

Patients with renal insufficiency or on low-potassium diets should note that this medicine contains 0.84 g (21.51 mmol) of potassium per sachet, of which 0.054 g (1.39 mmol) of potassium is part of the excipient and 0.784 g (20.12 mmol) of potassium is part of the active ingredient.

3. How to take Sueroral Hiposódico

Follow exactly the administration instructions of Sueroral Hiposódico indicated by your doctor. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have doubts.

Sueroral Hiposódico will be taken by dissolving the contents of each sachet in 1 liter of drinking water.

The water, if necessary, can be boiled beforehand but not after preparation.

No other ingredients, such as sugar, should be added.

The dose of Sueroral Hiposódico will depend on the patient's weight and the severity of their illness, although in general, the following doses are recommended:

Infants over 1 month: The recommended dose is approximately 1-1.5 times their usual food volume. It is recommended to administer the solution frequently, in small amounts, and slowly, without the need to suspend breastfeeding.

Children from 1 year: The recommended dose is approximately 200 ml of solution for each diarrheal stool. It is recommended to administer 25-30 ml of solution every 10-15 minutes.

Adults: The recommended dose is 200 to 400 ml of solution for each diarrheal stool.

There is no recommended maximum daily dose, so the solution can be administered freely, as the patient's thirst regulates the amount of Sueroral Hiposódico needed.

Elderly: The recommended dose is the same as for adults.

Altered hepatic function: In this case, no dose adjustment is necessary.

Altered renal function:In patients with altered renal function, Sueroral Hiposódico should not be taken in any case.

Duration of treatment: It is recommended to continue treatment while diarrhea lasts, and once it ends, until the doctor considers it necessary, which is usually achieved within 4 or 5 days.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, Sueroral Hiposódico can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them, when administered too quickly.

The most common ones are vomiting. In these cases, you should interrupt the intake of Sueroral Hiposódico for 10 minutes and resume later, giving smaller but more frequent amounts.

5. Conservation of Sueroral Hiposódico

Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Do not use Sueroral Hiposódico after the expiration date stated on the packaging, after the abbreviation CAD. The expiration date is the last day of the month indicated.

When not using Sueroral Hiposódico, you can store the solution between 2°C and 8°C (in the refrigerator) and must discard it 24 hours after preparation.

Medicines should not be thrown down the drain or into the trash. Deposit the packaging and medicines you no longer need at the SIGRE point in the pharmacy. In case of doubt, ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the packaging and medicines you no longer need. This way, you will help protect the environment.
