1. What is SYRON 40 mg and what is it used for

SYRON 40 mg belongs to a group of medications called oral iron preparations.

SYRON 40 mg normalizes altered hematological parameters in iron deficiency states.

SYRON 40 mg is used for the prophylaxis of iron deficiency anemia and iron deficiency states.

2. What you need to know before taking SYRON 40 mg

Do not take SYRON 40 mg

  • If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Ferrimanitol Ovoalbumin or any of the other components of SYRON 40 mg (listed in section 6).
  • If you are allergic to egg proteins.
  • If you have hemosiderosis and hemochromatosis (iron deposition diseases).
  • If you have anemia not related to iron deficiency, such as aplastic anemia, hemolytic anemia, and sideroblastic anemia.
  • If you have chronic pancreatitis and liver cirrhosis.

Warnings and precautions

Consult your doctor or pharmacist before starting to take this medication.

  • If you have or have had gastric or duodenal ulcers, inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, or liver failure.
  • If you are taking or are about to start taking any medication, including antacids, tetracyclines, quinolones, calcium salts, or levodopa.

Consult your doctor if any of the above circumstances have occurred to you.

Other medications and SYRON 40 mg

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using, have used, or may need to take any other medication, including those obtained without a prescription.

SYRON 40 mg should not be administered with:

  • Tetracyclines or penicillamine, as they may decrease each other's oral absorption.
  • Calcium salts, quinolones (ciprofloxacin, etc.), and levodopa, as iron preparations may decrease the absorption of these medications.
  • Antacids, as they may decrease the absorption of iron preparations.

Take any of these medications at least 2 hours apart from the administration of SYRON 40 mg.

Using SYRON 40 mg with food and beverages

SYRON 40 mg should not be taken with milk or dairy products.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or plan to become pregnant, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medication.

In studies conducted with ferrimanitol ovoalbumin in pregnant women, no problems were detected for the fetus.

No data are available on the excretion of ferrimanitol ovoalbumin in breast milk.

Driving and using machines

No signs of impaired ability to drive vehicles or operate machinery have been reported.

SYRON 40 mg contains sodium.

This medication contains less than 23 mg of sodium (1 mmol) per tablet, which is essentially "sodium-free".

3. How to take SYRON 40 mg

Follow the administration instructions for SYRON 40 mg exactly as indicated by your doctor. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist again.

Your doctor will indicate the duration of treatment with SYRON 40 mg. Do not stop treatment before, as there is a risk of relapse of the disease.

The recommended dose is 1 or 2 tablets daily after the main meal. Dissolve the tablet in 100 ml or 200 ml of water and shake until a uniform solution is achieved. The solution should be taken immediately.

If you think the effect of SYRON 40 mg is too strong or too weak, inform your doctor or pharmacist.

If you take more SYRON 40 mg than you should

If you have taken more SYRON 40 mg than recommended, consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately, or call the Toxicology Information Service, phone 91 562 04 20.

If you forget to take SYRON 40 mg

In case you have forgotten a dose, take another as soon as possible and continue with the usual schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for forgotten doses. You may experience symptoms of gastrointestinal irritation with nausea and vomiting.

If you interrupt treatment with SYRON 40 mg

Your doctor will indicate the duration of treatment with SYRON 40 mg. Do not stop treatment before, even if you feel better.

If you have any other questions about the use of this product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medications, SYRON 40 mg can cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them.

Occasionally, gastrointestinal disorders (stomach pain, nausea, constipation, or diarrhea) have been reported, which usually disappear when the dose is reduced or after treatment is suspended. Black pigmentation of stools.

5. Storage of SYRON 40 mg

Keep this medication out of the sight and reach of children.

No special storage conditions are required. Keep SYRON 40 mg in its original packaging.

Do not use SYRON 40 mg after the expiration date indicated on the packaging after CAD. The expiration date is the last day of the month indicated.

Medications should not be disposed of through wastewater or household waste. Deposit the packaging and any unused medication in the pharmacy's SIGRE point. If in doubt, ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the packaging and any unused medication. This will help protect the environment.

6. Contents of the pack and further information

Composition of SYRON 40 mg

The active ingredient is ferrimanitol ovoalbumin. Each tablet contains approximately 300 mg of ferrimanitol ovoalbumin (equivalent to 40 mg of Fe3+).

  • The other components are: mannitol, croscarmellose sodium, povidone, sodium stearyl fumarate, magnesium stearate, hydroxypropyl cellulose, coffee flavor, glycine, sodium saccharin, and Pearlitol 200 SD.

SYRON 40 mg is presented in the form of oblong tablets with a white color and brown spots. Each pack contains 30 tablets.
