There are three doses of this medication: Nicotinell 7 mg/24 h, Nicotinell 14 mg/24 h, and Nicotinell 21 mg/24 h.

The determination of the appropriate dose for each person is based on the number of cigarettes smoked per day or on the results of the Fagerström test. Form and route of administration

Transdermal route (through the skin).

Open the package using scissors and remove the transdermal patch. Do not cut the Nicotinell transdermal patch.

Remove the disposable precut protective liner from the side of the transdermal patch containing the medication. This is the side that should be in contact with the skin.

Immediately after removing the protective liner, place the Nicotinell transdermal patch on a dry and intact area of skin (without cuts, scratches or bruises) and with little hair: shoulder, waist, outer upper arm, etc. Avoid areas of the body subject to friction with clothing. Apply the entire patch to the skin without cutting it.

To ensure perfect adhesion, press firmly on the entire outer surface of the patch with the palm of your hand for at least 10-20 seconds.

Keep the patch for 24 hours. If you have difficulty sleeping, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Change the transdermal patch of Nicotinell every 24 hours. Use a different area of the skin for the placement of the patch, leaving several days before using the same area again.

When you remove the patch from your skin, you must fold it in half with the face in contact with the skin inside before disposing of it in a safe place and keep it out of the reach of children.

During its handling, avoid contact with the eyes and nose and wash your hands after its application.

In the case of prolonged baths in the sea or pool, you have two options:

  • before the bath, remove the transdermal patch and place it immediately in its container. You can stick it back on dry skin later.
  • cover the transdermal patch with a waterproof adhesive (bandage) during the entire bath.

When showering, the transdermal patch can be left on, avoiding directing the water jet directly at it.

Administration frequency

Use a patch every 24 hours.

Treatment duration

The duration of treatment is limited to 6 months.

Consult your doctor if withdrawal symptoms worsen or do not improve, if you experience anxiety or have difficulty quitting the treatment.

If you use more Nicotinell transdermal patches than you should:

In case of accidental overdose or if a child sucks or places a transdermal patch on their skin, remove the patch immediately, wash the skin with water only(do not use soap),consult a doctor or an emergency centerof a hospital or call the Toxicological Information Service (phone 91 562 04 20), indicating the name and amount used.

In children, even small amounts of nicotine are dangerous and could be fatal. If poisoning is suspected in a child, consult a healthcare professional immediately.

Aside from the signs of overdose that only require reducing the dose (see the previous dosage table), severe intoxications may occur with the following symptoms:

  • Pale skin
  • excessive sweating
  • involuntary muscle contractions
  • sensory disturbances
  • and confusion may occur

With high overdose

  • exhaustion
  • seizures
  • low blood pressure that can lead to circulatory collapse or respiratory failure

If you forgot to use Nicotinell transdermal patch:

Use the patch as soon as you remember, and then continue with your schedule as before. Do not use 2 patches at the same time.

If you have any questions about the use of this medication, consult a healthcare professional.
