Levodopa/Carbidopa/Entacapone
This medicine contains three active substances (levodopa, carbidopa, and entacapone) in one film-coated tablet. This medicine is used to treat Parkinson's disease.
Parkinson's disease is due to a low concentration in the brain of a substance called dopamine. Levodopa increases the amount of dopamine and thus reduces the symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Carbidopa and entacapone improve the anti-Parkinsonian effects of levodopa.

Tell your doctor if you, or your family member/caregiver, notice that you are developing desires or tendencies to behave in an unusual way for you or that you cannot resist the impulse, determination, or temptation to perform certain activities that may harm you or others. These behaviors are called impulse control disorders and may include addiction to gambling, eating, or excessive spending, and an abnormally high sexual drive or concern with an increase in sexual thoughts or feelings. Your doctor may need to review your treatment.
During prolonged treatment with this medicine, your doctor may perform regular blood tests.
If you need to undergo surgery, tell your doctor that you are taking this medicine.
This medicine is not recommended for the treatment of extrapyramidal symptoms (e.g., involuntary movements, agitation, muscle stiffness, and muscle contractions) caused by other medicines.
Experience with the use of this medicine in patients under 18 years of age is limited. Therefore, its administration is not recommended in children or adolescents.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines.
Do not take this medicine if you are taking certain medicines for depression (combinations of selective MAO-A and MAO-B inhibitors, or non-selective MAO inhibitors).
This medicine may increase the effect and also the side effects of certain medicines. These include:

This medicine may interfere with the absorption of iron in the gut. Therefore, do not take this medicine at the same time as taking iron supplements. If you take any of them, wait at least 2 or 3 hours before taking the other.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or plan to become pregnant, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.
Do not breastfeed your child during treatment with this medicine.
This medicine may lower your blood pressure, which can cause dizziness or fainting. Therefore, be careful when operating tools or machinery.
If you feel very tired or notice that you fall asleep suddenly, wait until you feel fully awake before driving or doing anything that requires you to be alert. Otherwise, you may put yourself and others at risk of a serious or even fatal accident.
Follow the instructions for administration of this medicine exactly as told by your doctor or pharmacist. If you are unsure, consult your doctor or pharmacist again.
Adults and the elderly
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you think the effect of this medicine is too strong or too weak, or if you experience any side effects.
If you have accidentally taken more tablets of this medicine than you should, talk to your doctor or pharmacist immediately. In case of overdose, you may feel dizzy or agitated, your heart rate may be slower or faster than normal, or your skin, tongue, eyes, or urine may change color.
In case of overdose or accidental ingestion, consult your doctor or pharmacist or call the Toxicological Information Service, telephone: 91 562 04 20, indicating the medicine and the amount taken.
Do not take a double dose to make up for forgotten doses.
If it is more than 1 hour until the next dose:
Take a tablet as soon as you remember, and the next one at the usual time.
If it is less than 1 hour until the next dose:
Take a tablet as soon as you remember, wait 1 hour, and take another tablet then. Then, continue as usual.
There should always be an interval of 1 hour between tablets of this medicine to avoid possible side effects.
Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor tells you to. In that case, your doctor may need to adjust the dose of your other Parkinson's medicines, especially levodopa, to ensure sufficient control of your symptoms. If you stop taking this medicine and other Parkinson's medicines abruptly, you may experience unwanted side effects.

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Many can be alleviated by adjusting the dose.

Dopamine dysregulation syndrome, characterized by an excessive desire for high doses of this medicine beyond what is required to control motor symptoms. Some patients experience severe abnormal involuntary movements (dyskinesias), mood changes, or other side effects after taking high doses of this medicine.

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton after EXP. The expiry date is the last day of the month stated.
Store at a temperature below 30°C.
Store in the original package and keep the bottle tightly closed to protect from moisture.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Return the containers and any unused medicines to the pharmacy. If you are unsure, ask your pharmacist how to dispose of containers and unused medicines. This will help protect the environment.

There are three different packaging sizes (of 30, 100, or 175 film-coated tablets) for this medication. The packages consist of HDPE bottles with an aluminum induction seal and a container as a loose component in the bottle containing silica gel. The HDPE bottle is packed in an external cardboard box.
