Taking Fluconazole Cinfa with food and drinks

You can take the medicine with or without food.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and fertility

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

If you are planning to become pregnant, it is recommended that you wait one week after a single dose of fluconazole before becoming pregnant.

For longer treatment cycles with fluconazole, consult your doctor about the need to use adequate contraceptive methods during treatment, which should be continued for one week after the last dose.

Do not take fluconazole if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant or breastfeed, unless your doctor has told you to. If you become pregnant while taking this medicine or within one week of the last dose, consult your doctor.

You can continue breastfeeding after taking a single dose of 150 mg of fluconazole. You should not continue breastfeeding if you are taking repeated doses of fluconazole.

Fluconazole taken during the first or second trimester of pregnancy may increase the risk of spontaneous abortion. Fluconazole during the first trimester may increase the risk of a baby being born with congenital anomalies affecting the heart, bones, and/or muscles.

There have been reports of babies born with congenital anomalies affecting the skull, ears, and bones of the thigh and elbow in women treated for three months or more with high doses (400-800 mg daily) of fluconazole for coccidioidomycosis. The relationship between fluconazole and these cases is unclear.

Driving and using machines

When driving or operating machinery, you should take into account that dizziness or seizures may occasionally occur.

Fluconazole Cinfa contains lactose. If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, consult them before taking this medicine.

Fluconazole Cinfa contains sodium

This medicine contains less than 1 mmol of sodium (23 mg) per capsule; this is, essentially, “sodium-free”.

It is recommended to bring the leaflet and the packaging of the medicine to the healthcare professional.

If you forget to take Fluconazole Cinfa

Do not take a double dose to make up for forgotten doses. If you have forgotten to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, do not take the missed dose.

If you have any other questions about the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Anastasiia Shalko

Family medicine12 years of experience

Dr. Anastasiia Shalko is a general practitioner with a background in both paediatrics and general medicine. She graduated from Bogomolets National Medical University in Kyiv and completed her paediatric internship at the P.L. Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. After working as a paediatrician in Kyiv, she relocated to Spain, where she has been practising general medicine since 2015, providing care for both adults and children.

Her work focuses on urgent, short-term medical concerns – situations where patients need quick guidance, symptom assessment and clear next steps. She helps people understand whether their symptoms require in-person evaluation, home management or a change in treatment. Common reasons for booking an online consultation include:

  • acute respiratory symptoms (cough, sore throat, runny nose, fever)
  • viral illnesses such as colds and seasonal infections
  • gastrointestinal complaints (nausea, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, gastroenteritis)
  • sudden changes in how a child or adult feels
  • questions about existing treatment and whether adjustments are needed
  • renewal of prescriptions when clinically appropriate
Dr. Shalko works specifically with urgent and short-term problems, providing practical recommendations and helping patients determine the safest next step. She explains symptoms clearly, guides patients through decision-making and offers straightforward medical advice for everyday acute issues.

She does not provide long-term management of chronic conditions, ongoing follow-up or comprehensive care plans for complex long-term illnesses. Her consultations are designed for acute symptoms, sudden concerns and situations where timely medical input is important.
