Amoxicilina/Ácido clavulánico Viatris 875 mg/125 mg Film-Coated Tablets EFG
Read this label carefully before taking this medicine, as it contains important information for you.
Amoxicilina/Ácido clavulánico Viatrisis an antibiotic that eliminates the bacteria that cause infections. It contains two different medications called amoxicilina and ácido clavulánico. Amoxicilina belongs to a group of medications known as “penicilinas”, which sometimes may lose its effectiveness (become inactivated). The other component (ácido clavulánico) prevents this from happening.
Antibiotics are used to treat bacterial infections and do not work for viral infections, such as the flu or a cold.
It is essential to follow the instructions regarding the dose, administration interval, and treatment duration indicated by your doctor.
Do not store or reuse this medication. If you have any leftover antibiotic after treatment, return it to the pharmacy for proper disposal. Do not dispose of the medication through the drain or in the trash.

If you are unsure if you are affected by any of the above symptoms, inform your doctor or pharmacist before takingamoxicilina/ácido clavulánico.
In some cases, your doctor may investigate the type of bacteria causing your infection. Depending on the results, you may be prescribed a different presentation ofamoxicilina/ácido clavulánicoor another medication.
Symptoms to be aware of
Amoxicilina/ácido clavulánicomay worsen existing conditions or cause serious side effects. These include allergic reactions, convulsions, and inflammation of the large intestine. Be aware of certain symptoms while takingamoxicilina/ácido clavulánicoto reduce the risk of problems. See “Symptoms to be aware of” insection 4.
Blood and urine tests
If you are having blood tests (such as red blood cell studies or liver function studies) or urine tests (to control glucose levels), inform your doctor or nurse about takingthis medication,becauseamoxicilina/ácido clavulánicomay alter the results of these types of tests.
Other medications and Amoxicilina/Ácido clavulánico Viatris
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have taken recently, or may need to take any other medication.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or think you may be pregnant, or intend to become pregnant,consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication.
Driving and operating machinery
Amoxicilina/ácido clavulánicomay cause side effects and symptoms that may make you unable to drive. Do not drive or operate machinery unless you feel well.
Amoxicilina/Ácido clavulánico Viatris contains sodium
This medication contains less than 23 mg of sodium (1 mmol) per tablet; this is essentially “sodium-free”.
Follow exactly the administration instructions of this medication as indicated by your doctor or pharmacist. In case of doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist again.
Adults and children 40 kg or more
•Usual dose: 1 tablet administered twice a day.
•Higher dose: 1 tablet administered three times a day.
Children under 40 kg of weight
It is preferable to treat children 6 years or less with oral suspension of amoxicillin/clavulanic acid or with the sachets.
Patients with kidney and liver problems
How to take Amoxicilina/Ácido clavulánico Viatris
If you take more Amoxicilina/Ácido clavulánico Viatris than you should
If you take more amoxicilina/ácido clavulánico than you should, you may experience symptoms such as stomach upset (nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea) or seizures. Consult your doctor as soon as possible. Bring the packaging with you to show the doctor. You can also call the Toxicology Information Service, phone 91 562 04 20, indicating the medication and the amount taken.
If you forget to take Amoxicilina/Ácido clavulánico Viatris
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Do not take the next dose too soon, wait at least 4 hours before taking the next dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed doses.
If you interrupt the treatment with Amoxicilina/Ácido clavulánico Viatris
Continue taking amoxicilina/ácido clavulánico until you complete the treatment, even if you feel better. You need to take the complete treatment to cure the infection. If you do not, the surviving bacteria may cause the infection to return.
If you have any other doubts about the use of this medication, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them.
Symptoms you should be aware of
Allergic reactions:
→Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of these symptoms.Stop taking amoxicillin/clavulanic acid.
Colitis
Colitis, which causes watery diarrhea, usually, with blood and mucus, stomach pain, and/or fever.
Acute pancreatitis
If you have intense and continuous pain in the stomach area, this could be a sign of acute pancreatitis.
Contact your doctor as soon as possible,so they can advise you, if you experience these symptoms.
Very common(may affect more than 1 in 10 people)
Common(may affect up to 1 in 10 people)
→ If this happens, take amoxicillin/clavulanic acidbefore meals.
Poco common(may affect up to 1 in 100 people)
Side effects that may appear in your blood tests:
Increased levels of certain substances (enzymes) produced by the liver.
Rare(may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people)
→If you experience any of these symptoms, consult a doctor urgently.

Keep this medication out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not store at a temperature above 25°C. Store in the original packaging to protect it from light and humidity.
Do not usethis medicationafter the expiration date that appears on the packaging after the abbreviation CAD or EXP. The expiration date is the last day of the month indicated.
Medications should not be disposed of through drains or in the trash. Dispose of the packaging and medications you no longer need at the SIGRE collection pointof the pharmacy. If in doubt, ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the packaging and medications you no longer need. In this way, you will help protect the environment.

Appearance of the product and content of the container
Film-coated tablets, oblong, scored, and white to pale yellow in color.
Aluminum/PVC/Al blisters.
It is presented in containers with 20, 30, or 500 film-coated tablets.
Only some container sizes may be commercially marketed.
