1. What is Medispirant stepspray and what is it used for

Medispirant stepspray is a liquid for the skin, an ethanolic solution containing active substances with disinfecting, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and drying effects. The medicine reduces excessive sweating by inhibiting the activity of sweat glands. It eliminates the unpleasant odor of sweat by inhibiting the growth of bacteria. Medispirant stepspray has a mild local anesthetic effect, causes a feeling of coolness, and reduces skin itching symptoms.

Indications for use

The medicine is intended for use on the skin in case of excessive foot sweating, eliminating the unpleasant odor associated with this condition.

2. Important information before using Medispirant stepspray

When not to use Medispirant stepspray

  • if the patient is allergic to menthol, salicylic acid, methenamine, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
  • on damaged skin;
  • on mucous membranes;
  • for a long time and on large areas of skin;
  • in children under 12 years of age.

Warnings and precautions

Before starting to use Medispirant stepspray, discuss it with your doctor or pharmacist.
When using Medispirant stepspray, follow these warnings:

  • stop using the medicine if you have a tendency to allergies;
  • avoid contact of the medicine with the mucous membranes of the eyes, mouth, and nose; in case of contact, rinse the medicine with warm water.

Children

Do not use in children under 12 years of age.

Medispirant stepspray and other medicines

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines you are taking, have recently taken, or might take.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or plan to have a child, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.
Due to the lack of data on safety, the use of the medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended.

Driving and using machines

The medicine does not affect the ability to drive and use machines.

Medispirant stepspray contains ethanol

This medicine contains 376.04 mg of alcohol (ethanol) in each 1 g of liquid.
It may cause burning of damaged skin.
The medicine is flammable. Do not use near open fire, lit cigarette, or certain devices (e.g., hair dryers).

3. How to use Medispirant stepspray

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this patient leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you are unsure, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
The medicine is for use on the skin.

Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age

Spray the feet with the liquid for several days, preferably in the evening after washing the feet.

Children

Do not use in children under 12 years of age.

Using more than the recommended dose of Medispirant stepspray

If you notice any worrying symptoms, stop using the medicine and contact your doctor.

Missing a dose of Medispirant stepspray

Continue using the medicine, do not increase the next dose.
Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
If you have any further doubts about using this medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Skin allergic reactions may occur. If such symptoms occur, stop using the medicine.

If you experience any side effects, including any side effects not listed in this leaflet, tell your doctor or pharmacist. Side effects can be reported directly to the Department of Monitoring of Adverse Reactions to Medicinal Products of the Office for Registration of Medicinal Products, Medical Devices, and Biocidal Products:

5. How to store Medispirant stepspray

Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the label on the bottle and carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
Store the medicine at a temperature below 25°C.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. This will help protect the environment.

6. Contents of the packaging and other information

What Medispirant stepspray contains

  • The active substances of the medicine are menthol, salicylic acid, and methenamine. 1 g of liquid for the skin contains 10 mg of menthol, 10 mg of salicylic acid, and 20 mg of methenamine.
  • The other ingredients are: ethanol 96%, purified water.

What Medispirant stepspray looks like and what the pack contains

Medispirant stepspray is a liquid for the skin, an ethanolic solution, clear, optically homogeneous with a characteristic odor of the ingredients.
The packaging of the medicine is: a polyethylene (HDPE) bottle with a spray pump, consisting of materials: polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (LDPE, LDPE/HDPE, LDPE(EPE)), polyoxymethylene (POM), colorless glass, and steel containing 100 g of liquid, placed in a cardboard box.
