1. Qué es Medebiotin Fuerte Solución y para qué se utiliza

La biotina, el componente activo, pertenece al grupo de las vitaminas hidrosolubles del grupo B.

Medebiotin Fuerte solución está indicado en tratamiento de los estados carenciales de biotina o cuando existe un aumento de las necesidades de esta vitamina, en adultos y niños.

La deficiencia de biotina puede producir síntomas de dermatitis seborreica (erupción en la piel con inflamación y descamación), alopecia (caída de cabello) o glositis (lesión inflamatoria de la lengua). Las necesidades de biotina pueden estar aumentadas en casos como pacientes en tratamiento prolongado con antiepilépticos y en alimentación parenteral (por vía distinta a la digestiva) no complementada convenientemente. También está indicado en tratamiento de alteraciones del metabolismo de la biotina.

Medebiotin Forte solución inyectable contiene 5 mg de biotina sódica (equivalente a 4,6 mg de biotina) por ampolla de 1 ml. Este medicamento contiene menos de 23 mg (1mmol) de sodio por ampolla, por lo que se considera esencialmente “exento de sodio”.

3. Cómo usar Medebiotin Fuerte Solución

Siga exactamente las instrucciones de administración de Medebiotin Fuerte indicadas por su médico. Consulte a su médico o farmacéutico si tiene dudas.

Medebiotin Fuerte se puede administrar por vía intramuscular, aunque por indicación del médico podrá usarse también por vía intravenosa y también por vía oral, mezclando el contenido de la ampolla con líquidos o papillas.

La dosis normal es:

Adultos

  • En caso de deficiencia con síntomas dermatológicos: 5 mg al día (una ampolla), normalmente por vía oral.
  • En alteraciones metabólicas: se recomiendan 10 mg al día (2 ampollas), aunque la dosis podría llegar hasta 40 mg al día dependiendo del tipo de deficiencia. La dosis de mantenimiento es de 5 a 20 mg al día, aunque podrían ser necesarias dosis hasta de 40 mg o más en función de la intensidad de la afección.

Uso en niños

  • En recién nacidos con deficiencia se recomiendan 5 mg al día (una ampolla) por vía oral o vía intravenosa lenta, ajustándose la dosis según la respuesta obtenida; pacientes mayores pueden requerir 10 mg al día.
  • En alteraciones del metabolismo de biotina: en general se recomiendan de 5 a 10 mg al día o menos, pero podrá ser necesario aumentar la dosis hasta 20 mg al día o más, dependiendo de la deficiencia. La dosis usual de mantenimiento es de 5 a 20 mg /día.

Todas las dosis indicadas podrán modificarse a criterio médico, según intensidad de la afección.

El médico le indicará la duración del tratamiento con Medebiotin Fuerte según la evolución.

Si usa más Medebiotin Fuerte solución del que debiera

Si utiliza más Medebiotin Fuerte de lo que haya indicado su médico es posible que no manifieste síntomas porque no se han observado reacciones tóxicas a la biotina en personas.

En caso de sobredosis consulte inmediatamente a su médico o farmacéutico o llame al Servicio de Información Toxicológica, teléfono 91 562 04 20, indicando el medicamento y la cantidad usada.

5. Conservación de Medebiotin Fuerte Solución

Mantener fuera del alcance y de la vista de los niños.

No utilice Medebiotin Fuerte después de la fecha de caducidad que aparece en el envase después de CAD. La fecha de caducidad es el último día del mes que se indica.

No requiere condiciones especiales de conservación.

Los medicamentos no se deben tirar por los desagües ni a la basura. Deposite los envases y los medicamentos que no necesita en el Punto SIGRE de la farmacia. En caso de duda pregunte a su farmacéutico cómo deshacerse de los envases y de los medicamentos que no necesita. De esta forma, ayudará a proteger el medio ambiente.

Composición de Medebiotin Fuerte solución

  • El principio activo es Biotina.

Cada ampolla contiene 5 mg de biotina sódica (equivalente a 4,6 mg de biotina).

  • Los demás componentes son: hidróxido sódico y agua para preparaciones inyectables.

Aspecto del producto y contenido del envase

Medebiotin Fuerte es una solución inyectable que también puede administrarse por vía oral (ver apartado 3) y se presenta en ampollas de vidrio de color ámbar con 1 ml de solución.

Cada envase contiene 10 ampollas.
