1. Qué es Magnesia San Pellegrino y para qué se utiliza

Magnesia San Pellegrino es un medicamento con actividad laxante.

Está indicado para el tratamiento sintomático del estreñimiento ocasional en adultos y adolescentes a partir de 12 años.

Debe consultar a un médico si empeora o si no mejora después de 7 días de tratamiento.

2. Qué necesita saber antes de empezar a tomar Magnesia San Pellegrino

No tome Magnesia San Pellegrino:

  • Si es alérgico al hidróxido de magnesio o a cualquiera de los demás componentes de este medicamento (incluidos en la sección 6).
  • Si padece:
    • una enfermedad de riñón grave
    • alguna enfermedad que provoque desequilibrio hidroelectrolítico (sales y agua presentes en el organismo)
    • apendicitis, obstrucción intestinal, hemorragia gastrointestinal o rectal no diagnosticada, colitis ulcerosa (enfermedad inflamatoria del colon), colostomía (procedimiento quirúrgico en el que se saca el extremo del intestino grueso a través de la pared del abdomen), diverticulitis (inflamación en la pared intestinal, formando bolsas anormales), ileostomía (procedimiento quirúrgico en el que se saca el extremo del intestino delgado a través de la pared del abdomen)
    • diarrea crónica.

Advertencias y precauciones

Consulte a su médico o farmacéutico antes de empezar a tomar este medicamento:

  • Si padece alguna enfermedad del riñón, aunque no sea grave, o enfermedades del hígado o del corazón

  • Si es mayor de 65 años

Consulte a su médico tan pronto como sea posible si tiene algún síntoma como dolor abdominal de origen desconocido, algún síntoma que indique hemorragia (como por ejemplo deposiciones negras o vómitos como posos de café),retortijones, vientre hinchado o dolorido, náuseas, vómitos y diarrea.

Niños

En niños de corta edad, el uso de hidróxido de magnesio puede causar hipermagnesemia, especialmente en presencia de insuficiencia renal o deshidratación.

Toma de Magnesia San Pellegrino con otros medicamentos

Comunique a su médico o farmacéutico si está utilizando, ha utilizado recientemente o podría tener que utilizar cualquier otro medicamento.

La administración conjunta de Magnesia San Pellegrino con otros medicamentos puede alterar la absorción o la acción de otros medicamentos utilizados para el tratamiento de:

  • Diabetes: clorpropamida, glibenclamida, glipizida, tolbutamida
  • Infecciones: sulfamidas, quinolonas (ciprofloxacino, ofloxacino, pefloxacino, enoxacino), tetraciclinas (clortetraciclina, doxiciclina, tetraciclina), ketoconazol, metenamina

  • Abandono del hábito de fumar: mecamilamina
  • Otros: medicamentos con cubierta entérica, acidificantes urinarios, como cloruro de amonio, ácido ascórbico o fosfatos de potasio o sodio.

Interferencia con pruebas de diagnóstico

No tome este medicamento durante las 24 horas anteriores a la realización de la prueba de secreción ácida gástrica, concentraciones séricas de gastrina (hormona que regula la secreción de ácidos en el estómago), concentraciones séricas de potasio y determinación del pH sérico y urinario.

Este medicamento se puede tomar con o sin alimentos y bebidas.

Embarazo y lactancia

Si está embarazada o en periodo de lactancia, cree que podría estar embarazada o tiene intención de quedarse embarazada, consulte a su médico o farmacéutico antes de utilizar este medicamento.

Conducción y uso de máquinas

El uso de este medicamento no afecta a la capacidad para conducir y/o utilizar máquinas.

Magnesia San Pellegrino 3,6 g Polvo para suspensión oral en sobres contiene sacarosa. Si su médico le ha indicado que padece una intolerancia a ciertos azúcares, consulte con él antes de tomar este medicamento.

3. Cómo tomar Magnesia San Pellegrino

Siga exactamente las instrucciones de administración del medicamento contenidas en este prospecto o las indicadas por su médico o farmacéutico. En caso de duda, pregunte a su médico o farmacéutico.

La dosis recomendada para adultos y adolescentes a partir de 12 años es de1sobre al día.

Como tomar

Este medicamento se toma por vía oral.

Poner 200 ml de agua en un vaso y añadir el contenido del sobre. Agitar con una cucharilla hasta que no quede medicamento en el fondo del vaso y beber inmediatamente.

Es recomendable beber abundante líquido durante el día.

Tomar preferentemente por la mañana en ayunas.

Si no mejora o los síntomas persisten después de 7 días de tratamiento continuo, debe consultar a un médico.

Si toma más Magnesia San Pellegrino del que debiera

Los síntomas de una sobredosis son: rubor, sed, hipotensión, náuseas, vómitos, cansancio generalizado, confusión, mareos, visión borrosa, descoordinación y debilidad muscular.

En caso de sobredosis o ingestión accidental consulte a su médico, farmacéutico o llame al Servicio de Información Toxicológica, teléfono 915620420 indicando el medicamento y la cantidad ingerida.

4. Posibles efectos adversos

Al igual que todos los medicamentos, Magnesia San Pellegrino puede producir efectos adversos, aunque no todas las personas los sufran.

Durante el periodo de utilización del hidróxido de magnesio como laxante y como antiácido se han observado los siguientes efectos adversos cuya frecuencia no se ha podido establecer con exactitud:

  • con más frecuencia: diarreas
  • con una frecuencia no conocida: dolor abdominal
  • con una frecuencia muy rara: Hipermagnesemia Se ha observado hipermagnesemia tras la administración prolongada en pacientes con insuficiencia renal.

5. Conservación de Magnesia San Pellegrino

Mantener este medicamento fuera de la vista y del alcance de los niños.

No requiere condiciones especiales de conservación

No utilice este medicamento después de la fecha de caducidad que aparece en el envase después de CAD.La fecha de caducidad es el último día del mes que se indica.

Los medicamentos no se deben tirar por los desagües ni a la basura. Deposite los envases y los medicamentos que no necesita en el Punto SIGRE de la farmacia. En caso de duda pregunte a su farmacéutico cómo deshacerse de los envases y de los medicamentos que no necesita. De esta forma, ayudará a proteger el medio ambiente.
