1. Qué es Chiclida y para qué se utiliza

La meclozina hidrocloruro, principio activo de Chiclida pertenece al grupo de medicamentos denominado antihistamínicos, utilizados contra el mareo producido por los medios de transporte.

Chiclida, está indicado en la prevención y tratamiento de los síntomas del mareo producidos por los medios de transporte por tierra, mar o aire, tales como náuseas, vómitos y/o vértigos en adultos y adolescentes mayores de 12 años.

Debe consultar a un médico si empeora o si no mejora después de 7 días.

2. Qué necesita saber antes de empezar a tomar Chiclida

No tome Chiclida

  • Si es alérgico a Meclozina hidrocloruro o a cualquiera de los demás componentes de este medicamento, (incluidos en la sección 6).
  • Si tiene aumentada la presión intraocular (glaucoma).
  • Si presenta agrandamiento de la próstata (Hipertrofia prostática).
  • Si padece una enfermedad que provoque obstrucción del tracto gastrointestinal o del aparato urinario.
  • Si tiene asma.
  • Si tiene diabetes.
  • Niños menores de 6 años

Advertencias y precauciones

Consulte a su médico o farmacéutico antes de empezar a tomar Chiclida:

  • Si padece de crisis en las que aparecen movimientos convulsivos, con o sin pérdida de consciencia (epilepsia).
  • Si es mayor de 65 años puede producirse sequedad de boca, retención de orina, glaucoma, náuseas, mareo, sedación, confusión, bajada de la tensión (hipotensión) o hiperexcitabilidad.
  • Si está utilizando algún medicamento que produce toxicidad en el oído, ya que pueden quedar enmascarados síntomas de esos efectos tóxicos, como pitidos en los oídos, mareos o vértigos.
  • Si padece alguna enfermedad o trastorno del hígado o del riñón, ya que podría aumentar la concentración del principio activo.
  • Si padece o ha padecido enfermedades o trastornos del corazón como arritmia cardiaca, hipertensión arterial, debilidad muscular grave (miastenia gravis), úlcera en el estómago o intestino.
  • Si sospecha que pueda tener síntomas de apendicitis como náuseas, vómitos o calambres abdominales. Se recomienda acudir a un médico para que le pueda descartar la presencia o no de apendicitis.

Evite exponerse al sol mientras tome este medicamento.

Si usted es alérgico a cualquier otro antihistamínico no se recomienda tomar este medicamento.

Interferencias con pruebas analíticas

Si le van a realizar una prueba cutánea que utilizan alergenos comunique al médico que está tomando este medicamento, ya que puede alterar los resultados.

Se recomienda suspender la administración de este medicamento al menos 72 horas antes de la prueba.

Niños

No utilizar este medicamento en niños menores de 12 años.

Uso de Chiclida con otros medicamentos

Informe a su médico o farmacéutico si está tomando, ha tomado recientemente o podría tener que tomar cualquier otro medicamento.

Se desaconseja la utilización conjunta con:

  • Depresores del sistema nervioso central como anestésicos, analgésicos opioides, barbitúricos (utilizados como sedantes, anticonvulsivantes y para problemas del sueño), benzodiazepinas (para el sueño), antipsicóticos.
  • Antiparkinsonianos.
  • Antidepresivos.
  • Neurolépticos ( Utilizados para calmar la excitación y la hiperactividad neuromuscular).

Toma de Chiclida con alimentos, bebidas y alcohol

Las bebidas alcohólicas pueden potenciar la acción de la Meclozina, por lo que no se aconseja su utilización simultánea.

Embarazo y lactancia

Si está embarazada o en periodo de lactancia, cree que podría estar embarazada o tiene intención de quedarse embarazada, consulte a su médico o farmacéutico antes de utilizar este medicamento.

No debe utilizarse durante el embarazo, salvo que sea estrictamente necesario. No administrar durante la lactancia.

Conducción y uso de máquinas

Chiclida puede producir somnolencia por lo que podría afectar a la capacidad para conducir y/o manejar máquinas. Los pacientes deben evitar manejar maquinaria peligrosa, incluyendo automóviles, hasta saber cómo toleran el medicamento.

Chiclida contiene Glucosa

Este medicamento contiene Glucosa. Si su médico le ha indicado que padece una intolerancia a ciertos azúcares, consulte con él antes de tomar este medicamento.

Los pacientes con diabetes mellitus deben tener en cuenta que este medicamento contiene 3,96 g de glucosa por chicle medicamentoso.

Puede producir caries en los dientes.

3. Cómo tomar Chiclida

Siga exactamente las instrucciones de administración del medicamento contenidas en este prospecto o las indicadas por su médico. En caso de duda, pregunte a su médico o farmacéutico.

Adultos y adolescentes (mayores de 12 años): 1 ó 2 chicles de chiclida (25 mg- 50 mg meclozina hidrocloruro) aproximadamente una hora antes de iniciar el viaje. Si es necesario, repetir la dosis cada 24 horas. No superar la dosis de 2 chicles de chiclida (50 mg de meclozina hidrocloruro) al día.

Pacientes con insuficiencia renal y/o hepática: Puede ser necesario reducir la dosis (ver sección 2 Advertencias y precauciones).

Masticar el chicle. No tragar.

Administrar al menos una hora antes de iniciar el viaje.

Si los síntomas empeoran, o si persisten más de 7 días, debe consultar al médico.

Uso en niños

Chiclida está contraindicado en niños menores de 6 años.

No se recomienda administrar este medicamento a niños de 6 a 12 años.

Si toma más Chiclida del que debe

Debe consultar inmediatamente a su médico o farmacéutico.

Los síntomas de una sobredosis pueden variar, desde sedación, dificultad para respirar, pérdida de consciencia a insomnio, alucinaciones, temblores o convulsiones.

En caso de sobredosis o ingestión accidental, consulte inmediatamente a su médico o farmacéutico o llame al Servicio de Información Toxicológica. Teléfono 91 562 04 20 indicando el medicamento y la cantidad ingerida.

Si olvidó tomar Chiclida

No tome una dosis doble para compensar las dosis olvidadas.

Si tiene cualquier otra duda sobre el uso de este medicamento, pregunte a su médico o farmacéutico.

4. Posibles efectos adversos

Al igual que todos los medicamentos, este medicamento puede producir efectos adversos, aunque no todas las personas los sufran.

Si considera que alguno de los efectos adversos que sufre es grave o si aprecia cualquier efecto adverso no mencionado en este prospecto, informe a su médico o farmacéutico.

Si sufre una reacción alérgica grave (shock anafiláctico) con erupción, picor, dificultad para respirar, deje de tomar el medicamento y busque ayuda médica inmediata.

Las reacciones adversas más frecuentes son la aparición de somnolencia y sedación. La boca seca, visión borrosa, náuseas, vómitos y dolor de articulaciones ocurren raramente (pueden afectar hasta 1 de cada 1.000 pacientes).

Otras reacciones adversas de frecuencia no conocida (no puede estimarse a partir de los datos disponibles) son:

  • Dolor abdominal, diarrea y estreñimiento.
  • Sueño y sedación.
  • Aumenta la secreción de los bronquios.
  • Aumento del apetito, anorexia.
  • Ansiedad, euforia, irritabilidad, alucinaciones, insomnio, trastornos de la memoria, trastornos psicóticos, confusión y paranoia.
  • Mareos, dolor de cabeza, trastornos del movimiento (Ej. Parkinson), parestesia (sensación de hormigueo y adormecimiento).
  • Visión doble.
  • Vértigo, acúfenos (ruidos de origen interno en el oído).
  • Sequedad de garganta y de nariz, broncoespasmos (contracción de los bronquios), epistaxis (Hemorragia nasal).
  • Disuria (expulsión difícil, dolorosa e incompleta de la orina), poliuria (producción y excreción de gran cantidad de orina), retención urinaria.
  • Fatiga, debilidad.
  • Taquicardia, palpitaciones y/o arritmias.
  • Hipotensión (disminución de la presión arterial).
  • Puede producirse una hiperexcitabilidad, sobre todo en niños.
  • Disminución en la sangre del número de glóbulos rojos, glóbulos blancos, leucocitos y plaquetas.
  • Reacciones alérgicas en la piel y sensibilidad a la luz solar, tras la exposición intensa, pudiendo aparecer picor y enrojecimiento de la piel.
  • Aumento de peso.

5. Conservación de Chiclida

No requiere condiciones especiales de conservación.

Mantener fuera de la vista y del alcance de los niños.

No utilice este medicamento después de la fecha de caducidad que aparece en el envase después de CAD. La fecha de caducidad es el último día del mes que se indica.

Los medicamentos no se deben tirar por los desagües ni a la basura. Deposite los envases y los medicamentos que no necesita en el punto sigre de la Farmacia. En caso de duda pregunte a su farmacéutico cómo deshacerse de los envases y de los medicamentos que no necesita. De esta forma ayudará a proteger el medio ambiente.

6. Contenido del envase e información adicional

Composición de Chiclida

El principio activo es Meclozina hidrocloruro. Cada chicle contiene 25 mg de meclozina hidrocloruro.

Los demás componentes son: Glucosa monohidrato, glucosa líquida, goma base, esencia de menta, clorofila (CI= 75810). Ver sección 2 “Chiclida contiene glucosa”.
