ZINCAS FORTE, 27 mg zinc ions, tablets

Zinci hydroaspartas

Read the package leaflet carefully before using the medicine, as it contains important information for the patient.

This medicine should always be used exactly as described in the package leaflet for the patient or as directed by a doctor, pharmacist, or nurse.

  • This leaflet should be kept in case it needs to be read again.
  • If advice or additional information is needed, a pharmacist should be consulted.
  • If the patient experiences any side effects, including any possible side effects not listed in the leaflet, they should inform their doctor, pharmacist, or nurse. See section 4.
  • If there is no improvement after 30 days or the patient feels worse, they should contact their doctor.

1. What is Zincas Forte and what is it used for

Zincas Forte is a medicine containing zinc.
Zincis a microelement. It regulates the production of growth hormone and sex hormones (it is necessary for the production of sperm and egg cells). It reduces the body's susceptibility to infections and allergies. It affects the proper secretion of insulin by the pancreas.
A zinc deficiency can cause: skin disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, nervous system disorders, immune system disorders, and bone system disorders. A significant zinc deficiency can cause dwarfism and underdevelopment of the sex organs.

Indications for use:

  • supplementing zinc deficiency in the body.

2. Important information before using Zincas Forte

When not to use Zincas Forte

  • if the patient is allergic (hypersensitive) to zinc hydroaspartate dihydrate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6),
  • if the patient has kidney failure,
  • if the patient is being treated with antibiotics or other medicines (see the section "Zincas Forte and other medicines").

Warnings and precautions

A dose higher than recommended may cause diarrhea.

Children

Zincas Forte should not be used in children under 15 years of age.

Zincas Forte and other medicines

The patient should inform their doctor or pharmacist about all medicines they are currently taking or have recently taken, as well as any medicines they plan to take.
Zincas Forte should not be used at the same time as the following medicines:

  • antibiotics from the tetracycline group (e.g., doxycycline), as zinc reduces their absorption,
  • containing acetylsalicylic acid,
  • non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), e.g., ibuprofen, indomethacin,
  • diuretics, e.g., hydrochlorothiazide,
  • corticosteroids, also known as steroids, e.g., hydrocortisone,
  • medicines and dietary supplements containing calcium, iron, and copper, as they reduce zinc absorption,
  • chelating agents, e.g., penicillamine - a medicine used to treat, among other things, lead or copper poisoning.

Using Zincas Forte with food and drink

The medicine should be taken after a meal, with a glass of water (see section 3).
Zincas Forte should not be taken at the same time as dairy products (milk and its derivatives). These products reduce zinc absorption.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and fertility

If the patient is pregnant or breastfeeding, thinks they may be pregnant, or plans to have a child, they should consult their doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.
Zincas Forte should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Driving and using machines

There is no data on the harmful effects of Zincas Forte on the ability to drive and use machines.
Zincas Forte contains sucrose. One tablet contains 12.24 mg of sucrose. This should be taken into account in patients with diabetes. If the patient has previously been diagnosed with intolerance to certain sugars, they should consult their doctor before taking the medicine.

3. How to use Zincas Forte

This medicine should always be used exactly as described in the package leaflet for the patient or as directed by a doctor or pharmacist. In case of doubt, the patient should consult their doctor or pharmacist.

Use in adults and adolescents over 15 years of age

Recommended dose:
1 tablet per day.
Zincas Forte should be taken orally, after a meal, with a glass of water.
If the symptoms do not improve after 30 days of using the medicine, the patient should contact their doctor.

Using a higher dose of Zincas Forte than recommended

In case of taking a higher dose of the medicine than recommended, the patient should consult their doctor or pharmacist.
Symptoms of Zincas Forte overdose (listed in section 4) may occur.

Missing a dose of Zincas Forte

In case of missing a dose, the patient should take the medicine as soon as possible. They should not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, Zincas Forte can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
When used as directed, no side effects have been observed.
Larger doses of the medicine may cause side effects, such as:

  • nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea,
  • metallic taste in the mouth,
  • headache. Long-term use of Zincas Forte may cause copper deficiency and anemia.

Reporting side effects

If the patient experiences any side effects, including any possible side effects not listed in the leaflet, they should inform their doctor, pharmacist, or nurse. 5. How to store Zincas Forte

The medicine should be stored out of sight and reach of children.
Store in a temperature below 25°C.
Store in the original packaging to protect from light and moisture.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
The expiry date refers to the last day of the given month.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. The patient should ask their pharmacist how to dispose of medicines they no longer use. This will help protect the environment.

6. Package contents and other information

What Zincas Forte contains

  • The active substance of the medicine is zinc hydroaspartate dihydrate. One tablet contains: 27 mg of zinc ions in the form of 150 mg of zinc hydroaspartate dihydrate.
  • The other ingredients are: potato starch, sucrose, talc, magnesium stearate, dextrin, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (type C), microcrystalline cellulose.

Zincas Forte is a white, round, flat tablet on both sides.
Available packaging: a container containing 50 tablets in a cardboard box.
