1. What is Vitamina C Synteza and what is it used for

Vitamina C Synteza contains ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Water-soluble vitamin C is essential in human metabolic processes. It participates in oxidation and reduction processes occurring in the body's cells. It is involved in the biosynthesis of collagen, a factor determining the proper development of cartilage, bone, dentin, and the normal healing of wounds, as well as maintaining the proper condition of blood vessels. Vitamin C stimulates the biosynthesis of many intercellular substances and the synthesis of prostacyclin. It inhibits the production of thromboxane. It participates in the process of iron ion absorption from the digestive tract, metabolism of tyrosine, phenylalanine, folic acid, histamine, norepinephrine, carnitine, proteins, and lipids, as well as in the conversion of adrenal steroids and cholesterol. It inhibits lipid oxidation and inactivates superoxide free radicals.

Vitamina C Synteza is used:

  • to supplement vitamin C deficiency in the body;
  • to treat metabolic consequences of hypovitaminosis;
  • to treat iron deficiency anemia;
  • to accelerate the healing and scarring of wounds;
  • as an auxiliary measure in states of reduced immunity;
  • during the course of infectious diseases and the convalescence period.

2. Important information before taking Vitamina C Synteza

When not to take Vitamina C Synteza:

  • if the patient is allergic to vitamin C or any other component of this medicine (listed in section 6).

1/4

Warnings and precautions

Vitamina C Synteza should not be taken by patients during radio- and/or chemotherapy. Taking a daily dose above 1 g may falsify the results of blood and urine tests based on oxidation and reduction reactions.

Children

Vitamina C Synteza should not be taken by children under 12 years of age.

Vitamina C Synteza and other medicines

The patient should inform their doctor or pharmacist about all medicines they are currently taking or have recently taken, as well as any medicines they plan to take. Concurrent use of vitamin C with preparations containing metal salts or with oxidizing agents weakens their mutual effect. Vitamina C Synteza taken with cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12) may reduce its effectiveness, so a few hours' interval should be maintained between the administration of these medicines. Salicylic acid and its derivatives reduce the concentration of vitamin C in blood serum. Vitamin C may reduce the effectiveness of tricyclic antidepressants, aminoglycosides, enhance the effect and toxicity of oral anticoagulants and sulfonamides, and increase the serum concentration of concurrently administered estrogens.

Taking Vitamina C Synteza with food and drink

Vitamina C Synteza can be taken independently of meals.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If the patient is pregnant or breastfeeding, thinks they may be pregnant, or plans to have a child, they should consult their doctor before taking this medicine.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy, Vitamina C Synteza should be taken only in doses recommended by a doctor.

Breastfeeding

Ascorbic acid passes into breast milk, so during breastfeeding, the medicine should be taken only in doses recommended by a doctor.

Driving and operating machinery

Vitamina C Synteza has no influence or negligible influence on the ability to drive and operate machinery.

Taking Vitamina C Synteza in elderly patients

Elderly patients can safely take Vitamina C Synteza.

The medicine contains yellow quinoline (E 104) and orange yellow (E 110)

The medicine may cause allergic reactions.

3. How to take Vitamina C Synteza

This medicine should always be taken exactly as described in this patient leaflet or as directed by a doctor. In case of doubts, consult a doctor or pharmacist. Oral administration. Recommended dose: adults and children over 12 years - 1 capsule once or twice a day.

2/4

Taking a higher dose of Vitamina C Synteza than recommended

No severe symptoms of vitamin C overdose have been observed after oral administration. Excess vitamin C is effectively removed from the body by the kidneys, so in case of overdose, the patient should drink plenty of water. In case of overdose, side effects may occur (see section 4).

Missing a dose of Vitamina C Synteza

A double dose should not be taken to make up for a missed dose. In case of any further doubts about taking this medicine, consult a doctor or pharmacist.

4. Possible side effects

High doses, above 1 g per day, taken for a longer period, may cause side effects: Gastrointestinal disorders: Frequency not known: diarrhea, heartburn. Urinary disorders: Frequency not known: increased risk of uric acid, cystine, and oxalate stones.

Reporting side effects

If any side effects occur, including any side effects not listed in this leaflet, the patient should inform their doctor or pharmacist.
