Ascorbic acid
This medicine should always be taken exactly as described in this patient leaflet or as directed by a doctor or pharmacist.
Vitamina C Synteza contains ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Water-soluble vitamin C is essential in human metabolic processes. It participates in oxidation and reduction processes occurring in the body's cells. It is involved in the biosynthesis of collagen, a factor determining the proper development of cartilage, bone, dentin, and the normal healing of wounds, as well as maintaining the proper condition of blood vessels. Vitamin C stimulates the biosynthesis of many intercellular substances and the synthesis of prostacyclin. It inhibits the production of thromboxane. It participates in the process of iron ion absorption from the digestive tract, metabolism of tyrosine, phenylalanine, folic acid, histamine, norepinephrine, carnitine, proteins, and lipids, as well as in the conversion of adrenal steroids and cholesterol. It inhibits lipid oxidation and inactivates superoxide free radicals.
Vitamina C Synteza is used:

Vitamina C Synteza should not be taken by patients during radio- and/or chemotherapy. Taking a daily dose above 1 g may falsify the results of blood and urine tests based on oxidation and reduction reactions.
Vitamina C Synteza should not be taken by children under 12 years of age.
The patient should inform their doctor or pharmacist about all medicines they are currently taking or have recently taken, as well as any medicines they plan to take. Concurrent use of vitamin C with preparations containing metal salts or with oxidizing agents weakens their mutual effect. Vitamina C Synteza taken with cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12) may reduce its effectiveness, so a few hours' interval should be maintained between the administration of these medicines. Salicylic acid and its derivatives reduce the concentration of vitamin C in blood serum. Vitamin C may reduce the effectiveness of tricyclic antidepressants, aminoglycosides, enhance the effect and toxicity of oral anticoagulants and sulfonamides, and increase the serum concentration of concurrently administered estrogens.
Vitamina C Synteza can be taken independently of meals.
If the patient is pregnant or breastfeeding, thinks they may be pregnant, or plans to have a child, they should consult their doctor before taking this medicine.
Pregnancy
During pregnancy, Vitamina C Synteza should be taken only in doses recommended by a doctor.

A double dose should not be taken to make up for a missed dose. In case of any further doubts about taking this medicine, consult a doctor or pharmacist.
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Vitamin C is generally well-tolerated. High doses, above 1 g per day, taken for a longer period, may cause side effects: Gastrointestinal disorders: Frequency not known: diarrhea, heartburn. Urinary disorders: Frequency not known: increased risk of uric acid, cystine, and oxalate stones.
