1. What is Simetikon Hasco and what is it used for

Simetikon is a medicine used against bloating and excessive gas accumulation. It works in the stomach and intestines by changing the surface tension at the interface between the liquid contents of the digestive tract and gas bubbles. This facilitates the merging of gas bubbles accumulated in the digestive contents and saliva, and then their passage through the intestine. Gases are removed from the digestive tract by belching, passing wind, or increased gas absorption into the blood. Due to its defoaming properties, simetikon is used as an auxiliary agent to remove gases before diagnostic tests: ultrasound, radiography, and endoscopy of the abdominal cavity. Simetikon Hasco is used in:

  • symptomatic treatment of disorders associated with excessive gas accumulation in the intestines and a feeling of fullness in the abdominal cavity,
  • auxiliary treatment before diagnostic tests: ultrasound, radiography, and endoscopy of the abdominal cavity to remove excess gas before the tests.
