How to use Pelogel

1. What is Pelogel and what is it used for?

Pelogel contains a thickened aqueous peat extract and peppermint oil in its composition. The gel is used as supplementary dental treatment after prior removal of dental tartar.
The biologically active components of peat, mainly humic acids (humic and fulvic acids), exhibit anti-inflammatory effects in diseases of the oral mucosa and periodontal tissues. Additionally, these acids have a tightening effect on the mucous membrane.
The application of gum massage combined with rubbing in the peat extract improves microcirculation in pathologically altered tissues, which facilitates the absorption of effusions and infiltrates in inflammatory foci.

Indications for use:

Pelogel is used as an auxiliary treatment in:

  • periodontal disease (paradontosis),
  • gingivitis. The gel can be used after basic treatment by a dentist.

2. Important information before using Pelogel

When not to use Pelogel:

  • if the patient is allergic to the active substance or any of the other components of this medicine (listed in section 6),
  • in acute inflammatory conditions of the periodontal tissues, gums, and oral cavity.

Warnings and precautions

Before starting to use Pelogel, it is necessary to discuss it with a dentist or pharmacist. It is also recommended to remove dental tartar.
If there is no improvement after 10-15 days or the patient feels worse, they should consult a doctor.

Children

There is no data on the safety of using the medicine in this age group. Therefore, it is not recommended to use the medicine in children.

Pelogel and other medicines

The patient should inform their doctor or pharmacist about all medicines they are currently taking or have recently taken, as well as any medicines they plan to take.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and fertility

If the patient is pregnant or breastfeeding, thinks they may be pregnant, or plans to have a child, they should consult their doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.

Driving and using machines

Pelogel does not affect the ability to drive or operate machines.

3. How to use Pelogel?

This medicine should always be used exactly as described in the patient leaflet, or
according to the doctor's or pharmacist's instructions. In case of doubts, the patient should consult their doctor or pharmacist.
Adults: the single dose is approximately 2.5g (1/2 teaspoon). Using a soft toothbrush or fingertip, massage the gums with the gel for about 1 minute (2-3 times a day).
After applying the preparation, the patient should not eat or drink for about 1/2 hour. The treatment should be used for about 2-3 weeks.

In case of using a larger dose of the medicine than recommended

There are no known symptoms of overdose.

In case of missing a dose of Pelogel

The patient should use the next dose of the gel, and not use a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

4. Possible side effects

No side effects or exacerbations of disease symptoms have been reported. If any side effects occur, the patient should stop using the medicine and inform their doctor.

If any side effects occur, including any possible side effects not listed in the leaflet, the patient should inform their doctor or pharmacist. 5. How to store Pelogel

Store in a dry place, in a tightly closed package.
The medicine should be stored in a place inaccessible and invisible to children.
Pelogel should not be used after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
The expiry date means the last day of the specified month.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste containers. The patient should ask their pharmacist how to dispose of medicines that are no longer needed. This will help protect the environment.
