1. What is Pecto Drill, lozenges and what is it used for
Pecto Drill contains the active substance carbocisteine, which affects the composition of bronchial secretions. Carbocisteine makes the secretions less viscous and more fluid, making them easier to remove from the airways during coughing (mucolytic action). This medicine is used for the symptomatic treatment of respiratory diseases characterized by excessive production of thick and viscous secretions. Pecto Drill is indicated for use only in adults.
2. Important information before taking Pecto Drill, lozenges
When not to take Pecto Drill, lozenges:
- if you are allergic to carbocisteine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
- if you currently have active peptic ulcer disease;
- in breastfeeding women;
Warnings and precautions
Before starting treatment with Pecto Drill, discuss it with your doctor, as special caution is required when taking Pecto Drill:
- if you have had stomach or duodenal ulcer disease in the past;
- in patients with severe respiratory failure, as this may lead to airway obstruction.
- in case of abundant, purulent secretions and fever, as well as in case of chronic bronchitis or lung disease, a doctor's visit is necessary, who may prescribe other medicines;
- do not take simultaneously with cough suppressants and/or expectorants. The cough reflex is a natural defensive reflex of the lungs and should not be suppressed. The use of this medicine should be accompanied by an unhampered cough reflex to facilitate the removal of secretions.

Pecto Drill, lozenges and other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines you are taking, or have recently taken, and about medicines you plan to take. When taking Pecto Drill, do not take other medicines containing carbocisteine (to avoid exceeding the maximum dose), cough suppressants, or expectorants.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and fertility
The use of this medicine is not recommended in pregnant women. The use of this medicine is contraindicated during breastfeeding (see "When not to take Pecto Drill, lozenges"). If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or plan to have a child, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
Driving and using machines
Pecto Drill, lozenges have no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
What Pecto Drill, lozenges contain
- 7.23 mg of aspartame in each lozenge. Aspartame is a source of phenylalanine. It may be harmful to patients with phenylketonuria. This is a rare genetic disorder in which phenylalanine accumulates in the body due to its impaired excretion;
- 600.32 mg of sorbitol in each lozenge. Sorbitol is a source of fructose. If you have been diagnosed with intolerance to some sugars or if you have been diagnosed with hereditary fructose intolerance, a rare genetic disorder in which the body does not break down fructose, you should consult your doctor before taking the medicine or giving it to your child;
- 3.31 mg of glucose in each lozenge. If you have been diagnosed with intolerance to some sugars, you should consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
- less than 1 mmol of sodium (23 mg) per lozenge, which means the medicine is considered "sodium-free".
- 0.16536 µg of benzyl alcohol in each lozenge, which may cause allergic reactions. Pregnant or breastfeeding women and patients with liver or kidney disease should consult their doctor before taking the medicine, as a large amount of benzyl alcohol may accumulate in their body and cause side effects (metabolic acidosis).
- 1.272 µg of butylhydroxyanisole in each lozenge, which may cause local skin reactions (e.g., contact dermatitis) or eye and mucous membrane irritation;
- Cytral flavoring substance, which may cause allergic reactions.
3. How to take Pecto Drill, lozenges
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Dosage Initially, the recommended dose is one lozenge three times a day. After a satisfactory response to treatment, the dosage should be reduced to one lozenge twice a day. Do not take the medicine before bedtime. Route and method of administration The medicine is for oral use. The lozenge should be sucked or chewed. Duration of treatment The duration of treatment should be limited to five days. After this time, if symptoms do not disappear, consult your doctor. Do not exceed the recommended dose of the medicine. After taking the medicine, do not suppress the cough reflex. This will help remove mucus and phlegm from the lungs. If you feel that the effect of the medicine is too strong or too weak, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Overdose of Pecto Drill, lozenges
If you have taken more than the recommended dose of the medicine, stop taking it immediately and consult your doctor or pharmacist. Symptoms of overdose may include gastrointestinal disorders (including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain).
Missed dose of Pecto Drill, lozenges
Take the missed dose as soon as possible, unless it is time for the next dose. In this case, skip the missed dose and continue taking the medicine as usual. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose. If you have any further questions about the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. The following side effects may occur with unknown frequency (cannot be estimated from the available data):
- Gastrointestinal disorders: upper abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting, diarrhea;
- Nervous system disorders: headache;
- Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: allergic reactions: skin redness (erythematous rash), itching, urticaria, angioedema (rapidly progressing skin or mucous membrane swelling, usually of the face or throat, which may cause difficulty breathing and swallowing) and round areas with a red-purple reaction on the skin, which recur in the same place after re-administration of the medicine (drug rash).
If you experience any of these symptoms, consult your doctor, who will recommend reducing the dose or stopping the medicine.

5. How to store Pecto Drill, lozenges
Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Store in a temperature below 25°C. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton and blister. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month. Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. This will help protect the environment.
6. Contents of the pack and other information
What Pecto Drill, lozenges contain
The active substance is carbocisteine. One lozenge contains 750 mg of carbocisteine. The other ingredients are: povidone, sorbitol, sodium saccharin, aspartame, flavoring substance 28M107 (contains, among others, sorbitol, glucose, benzyl alcohol, butylhydroxyanisole, d-limonene, cytral), talc, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, purified water.

Pecto Drill are white, round lozenges without odor and with a slightly sweet taste. Packaging: 20 lozenges in blisters, in a cardboard box.
